    Great video. Even if people don't use this information for adding usb ports....they can see how to wire up anything in the cubby. Also, this helps those who are wondering how to remove their stereo screen. I had no idea that it was only 1 wire behind it until now.

    Just did this mod with my new 2024 Maverick. Used a 48w superfast charge version of this same set of USB ports. The only difference was there's slight less room in that hole you put your wiring through in the 2024.

    That was a great video, that’s why I watch your channel. I have a Ford maverick XL on order. Hope to get it sometime in the first quarter of next year. I will be using your videos to help me do mods. Thank you.

      Jeff, mine took 17 months to arrive. Be prepared, it might be awhile. Mine was an extreme case, most didn’t take that long.

    Nice job. I would install on the back of the cubby so I can slip a cell phone holder in as well. When traveling I like to use my phone GPS and hate having the cord running down the dash. Why Ford didn't think of this is beyond me.

    The part you are working on around 4:55 (the cubby and screen housing). Does this have a part number? Can it be further disassembled?

    • @GearGadgetExperiments
      @GearGadgetExperiments  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know the part number. Not sure how much more is can be disassembled. I really didn't pay attention to that.

    Thank you so much for this video! This just be the best explained DIY video ever. What gauge wire did you use to connect from the dash down to the fuse box area?

    Great video! I would have found a way to prop the USB ports vertically facing the inside of the car (driver). Also, what was the port number you ended up using in the Fuse Box for the Switched12 Volt Power?

    • @GearGadgetExperiments
      @GearGadgetExperiments  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't remember the number, but you can see which one it was in the video.

    Great job! I really enjoy your videos. Do you think there's enough room to install it vertically?

    Rad video!
    Does anyone know where the standard USB port wires to? I'd like to add an inline port or splice such that I can mount essentially a phone "dock" out of the cubby. In this video, it's just for power, but I'd like the the integrated phone interface to take over when in rest my phone in the cubby-holder.
    I 3d printed a phone holder now, but i have to drag the cable up across my console. It's lame! I want the same experience, but better cable management!

    Does the "always on" line auto shut off after a while, like the cigarette lighter?

    • @GearGadgetExperiments
      @GearGadgetExperiments  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the specific line I tested. I waited a few hours, it never shut off.

    • @dino5254

      How many minutes does it take to shut off? I just noticed it was live and I have my dash cam running on it.

      @@dino5254 I never tested how long the cig light port stays on.

    I wish someone would sell a form, fit and function replacement panel that is bigger and just delete the cubby. Needs to have a better antiglare coating than the OEM one. I wish the OEM infotainment was a little better, my only real complaint is it forgets what source it was on when it was turned off, so when I start the vehicle it defaults to a radio setting that is just static. I like some of the Etsy options to add a mounting option to the cubby

      The maverick forgets a few things after you turn it off. That is kinda a bummer.

    Great video. With the world moving towards USB-C for everything do you see yourself swapping this in the future for something else?

    Super sketch that those fuses you inserted into the tap have so much of their legs exposed. Those are hot leads just waiting to find a ground - you should have trimmed those fuse legs so they are flush with no leg exposed.
