This was written by the drummer Steve Prestwich. A truely beautiful song. He traded up with keyboardist Don Walker to write Flame Trees another great Cold Chisel banger. Normally you would do Chisel live but this one the official video tells the story as well. Really enjoying you discover this remarkable band.
Such a fantastic performance, yes so emotional. Mossys smooth vocals and Jimmy prowling around adding some soulful ad-libs before an exploding verse, just beautifull.
Thanks heaps for the great reaction. That’s the thing with Cold Chisel every song isn’t the same they are all unique. You should check out Australian legend John Farnham covering this song as well
Originally off their 1982 album, Circus Animals (my favourite of theirs). They broke up the end of 1983, and reformed in 1997. The Ringside concerts were a more intimate setting in the round in the early 2000s. Another big hit from that album was "Forever Now" but you should also check out "Taipan", "No Good for you" and "Wild Colonial Boy" from the same album. I believe the Circus Animal live concerts from 1982 are on TH-cam but the studio versions are equally good. I've finally subscribed because i like that your journey is heading to Chisel town.
It's been a real kick for me to "discover" a top tier band. There is so much music from Australia that never reached us in the U.S. I'm kind of hoping that y'all might discover some of the more neglected bands and deeper album cut that I like to play on my channel.
It was filmed at a 2003 concert and released in the same year. The song initially came out on their 1982 album “Circus Animals”. You should listen to the album version, which is not acoustic! (In fact, listen to the entire album!)
Now that you've seen the original band perform this song...now you "HAVE" check out John Farnham performing it. This one is from when he was a bit older ....the Voice has just got even better ❤❤ Start from around 2.40 to avoid most of the banter m.th-cam.com/video/EBo1cMumwBM/w-d-xo.html
Good thing the reactor got the original first - I’ve no issue with Farnham at all - he’s a stupendous singer - so much so that he attracts the kind of fans that love him more than the lyrics he sings cos it makes them feel emotions they’d otherwise have no access to. So even when he warns them that he’s going to sing a serious song, and being a performer who totally engages his audience … well the crowd just undermines the lyrics of the song by their reaction. Why don’t you recommend a Farnham song you like instead.

Written by the drummer, who spent the whole song showcasing his percussion skills on the egg shaker!
Just a classic performance. Have to say, yours are the only "reaction" videos I truly enjoy. Keep it up and thanks.

You just have to tear up with this tune dude… love your channel, just found it tonight 🙌 I saw this band in the early 80’s. Brilliant 😘
Thanks for checking me out. I fell in love with this band and have played a shitload of their music ever since. I love it, it's all new to me.

Love from Australia ❤ your welcome
This performance is from the 2003 Ringside concert
Worth listening to the original studio version too. Fantastic song.

Absolutely a must
If you liked their slower stuff my I suggest 4 Walls or Water into Wine. They are both fantastic songs.

I'm with you Frankie.
I was wondering about the date as it looked a lot like other cuts I've played from that concert.
Forget 2010 .
Song was released in 1982 before the big 1983 bust up.
À beautiful moment.
