Don't know if anybody's done it yet, but as a long time Aussie gigrat and pub girl that saw most of the bands you're reacting to, I consider you an honorary Aussie mate.. 🍺👍Drink up Greg!
You didn't screw up at all mate, absolutely not your fault, the Angels were one of our best and favourite bands in oz, but since Doc sadly passed away they've had new lead singer, one of them being Dave Gleeson who has been the lead singer for another great band called "the sreaming jets", but there's no replacing Doc Neeson, anyway this is the first time I've watched your channel and I was so impressed that i've just subscribed mate, thanks for listening to Aussie music that most of the world is missing out on 👍
No dramas Greg. We appreciate the efforts you go to broaden your musical horizons and love your honest reactions. Don't be bummed - this tune should certainly have helped.
This song itself might be first time I heard the album version. Sounds ok but love the live versions I heard even more as the crowd seem to sing along. I must have watched their concert, live from Narrara heaps of times in the mid 80's. Just really captured them at their peak.
It happens! Your reactions are a lot of fun and your choices rock! The silver lining is that you get to listen to some great songs when you get a chance!
I guess the Brewster brothers feel like the band can't move on while the ghost of Doc still haunts them, so they're trying to erase his memory. It'll never work because Doc was sooo unique and brilliant and the fans are loyal to him.
I do not think I ever had an album from The Angels. I just tended to listen to live recordings of theirs and stuff I heard on radio that never got around to buying an album. So yesterday when I clicked on one song to listen to from you, it was a song to I do not recall hearing so thought it would be interesting. But a bit of the way through it I knew it was not Doc Neeson singing , so I assumed one of the other band members was lead vocal for that song. Only later did I notice the album logo says Face to Face Recharged so was not the original album from back in their day. Still the music sound ok but the vocals lacked what I was used to from the Angels with Doc Neeson. I read someone else in comments point out it was another singer the band recorded this with. I never really listend to the band Screaming Jets much which the singer was from. He has an ok voice but not something that does much for me. Guess it a bit like the band INXS recorded stuff after the lead singer Michael Hutchenance died. The chemistry always going to be different with a different singer but it a bit odd to re-do a whole album with that other singer. I was not a big fan of INXS but any songs I did like I would not really listen to with someone else singing for them Terene Trent-Darby fronted INXS but I never listened to any of that. Saw a few songs like with Jon Stevens singing with INXS but he was an awesome singer for Noiseworks so I can listen to it as a Jon Stevens and INXS track but it still not original INXS. I guess it a bit like Van Halen re-doing an early album that had David Lee Roth on vocals and doing it ith Sammy Hagar. If they had done that I would have been pissed off. I would never listen to Mean Street, Unchained or Panama with Sammy Hagar doing it with Van Halen because I love the orignal too much with David Lee Roths vocals. I did have the Van Halen album after David Lee Roth left and was a good album in about 1986 but I never loved the vocals as much, so never listened to any more albums of Van Halen after that, even though loved the guitar work and drums of both Van Halen brothers. Sammy Hagar was just a bit to cheesy for my taste and type of songs were becoming too different to what I really liked of their earlier stuff. Anyway, do not worry Greg. Innocent mistake from you, so no one going to hang you for it here. :)
The fact you care so much is nice but don't think twice about it good sir. I enjoyed watching anyway as I do every day for the past month or so. Love the channel, been meaning to leave a comment saying as much. Also if I may, if you have room on your list for suggestions, to add "Buttland" and maybe "Return of Creature with the Atom Brain" by another important Aussie band from the 80's called "Celebate Rifles", they would fit right in on your channel. Also I loved that you did "Working Man's Boogie" by Colored Balls (gotta check out the black and white live on TV clip in your own time, if not on the channel of course. It's the coolest!) Not sure if you're yet to hear the Lobby Lloyd/Colored Balls masterpiece "GOD" (live @ Sunbury), but if not it's a total must. I'll leave it there.
Sorry just one more thing about the recording of "GOD" live @Sunbury I just remembered that is worth noting. By all accounts including Lobby himself, this was recorded in the middle of the night one night at the Sunbury 72 festival in Australia while the band and everyone was blazing on acid and what have you. From what I recall reading, the festival goers were back at the campsites and the band just wanted to play and did an impromptue 3am jam that was electrifying to say the least and quickly brought the crowd in.
Awesome! That's the Angels! There is NO substitute for Doc. So sad to hear about your bad experience with getting the Face to Face cover but I am glad you have realised it. Not your fault so no need to apologise.
What was so weird is when I went to their website to try and confirm who the vocalist was, there was zero information. I had to rely on my viewer's information and go to a third party website to confirm it. Very time consuming.
@@deepcutsreactions7774 I wonder if there's some legal fuckery behind it all. Bands fighting with their singers over money seems to be quite a common occurrence.
@@morganmatta That's for sure. John Fogerty was not able to sing or play the songs he wrote for Creedence Clearwater Revival for about twenty years. They were all copyrighted as CCR so he didn't have legal control over his own art. It all got pretty ugly in the courts. I saw the concert on TH-cam where he was finally able to perform those great songs again and it was glorious. He had a nice little band backing him up, The Gateful Dead. I probably should play something from that concert.
@@deepcutsreactions7774 Sounds like a concert well worth a listen. I can imagine it must have been an incredible feeling for him and that his performance must have benefited so much from that. Talking of amazing performances, Missy Higgins released her new album last week, 20 years to the day after her first album, and performed a song from each on a local TV show. You can find them on the YT channel 'The Project'. Absolutely breathtaking. (you might even find a new appreciation for one of her old slow songs 😁)
At the risk of being impertinent, please consider reacting to the Divinyls “Boys in Town” official video. Best band and song you haven’t done yet! Also, I repeat myself but please react to my favourite Jimmy Barnes solo song “Too Much Ain’t Enough Love”, also the 1987 official video filmed in Hong Kong. (Please not the Barnes / Bonamassa remake that looks like a commercial for Chanel No. 5!)
Hey, impertinence is my byline. I was looking for the Jimmy Barnes live version and I can't tell which one it is. I had already avoided that thing with Joe Bonamassa.
@@deepcutsreactions7774 Hey Greg, I know you prefer live versions but the 1987 official video of TMAEL is good and the lead solo is fantastic. And the Divinyls one, though simple, is an Australian early 80s video classic.
Please don't apologise. You do heaps more research than most of the bozos on here... It's hardly your fault if the info isn't available. And who gives a rat's arse if it's not the version you grew up loving. You are introducing classic Oz music to your audience, and hopefully we can appreciate that all of this is new to you. And I for one, really do appreciate your honest reactions, and insights. So you mucked something up... If this is the biggest mistake of your life you are doing well!! Thanks for all you do Greg. 🌼
And thats why the Angels never became successful overseas like ACDC..they made sh.. business moves like this re recording albums .classic example of dumb ideas from the Angels. Great band tho
My childhood right here. Awsome!!! Thanks Greg. 👍🏻
RIP Doc you did good thanks for the memories. Peace out.

No need to apologise, Greg. We appreciate your efforts to be "real" and some pricks just make life difficult. Keep rocking your own style.
Still touring but since Doc passed they're on their third lead singer

It is a bit weird for them to rerecord one of their classic albums with a new singer. Can't think of another example of that happening.
What was so weird is when I went to their website to try and confirm who the vocalist was, there was zero information. I had to rely on my viewer's information and go to a third party website to confirm it. Very time consuming.
