    You’ve been so good to us! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and techniques. I have a quick question! It has nothing to do with this video. When you go on a shoot, after setting up your camera with the correct exposure like shutter speed, iso, and aperture for the look that you want... at what power do you normally start with your flash and how close do you put it to subject? The a7iii back screen isn’t that great, how do you know if the exposure is okay. Do you look at your histogram? Sometimes things look a little weird when looking at the A7iii back screen. Thanks in advance

    • @EliInfante
      @EliInfante  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're welcome I make this content for you guys! The way I expose is I look through the view finder. I've trained my eyes to know what exposure will look good once I import. I believe the most important thing to understand is preserve the highlight and shadow detail. I'll admit the Sonya7iii screen isn't the best.

    Hi Eli,
    Great walkthrough through the settings - some useful information here :)
    I was wondering if you've ever experienced issues with the flash sync?
    What I mean is my Sony A7 III sometimes triggers the flash properly and sometimes it seems to fire it off the sync (too late) and I get the image not lighten by the flash. It doesn't matter if I have a speedlight (Canon's btw...) mounted directly on the camera's hotshoe or if I fire it with my a trigger. I've tried different scenarios - Godox X2T on my camera and then the speedlight on the trigger, Canon dedicated trigger mounted on the Godox trigger and triggering a studio strobe or the speedlight with a receiver connected to the flash light (that Canon dedicated, as the rebranded Godox X1R receiver does not communicate with my X2T-S trigger (probably broken- I bought a used one)). So no matter how I set that equipment I get the flash triggered in sync and after a small break (let's say 1-2 mins. without shooting), camera triggers the flash too late once or twice and then starts triggering properly again. I have EFCS and Silent shooting switched off. The flash is set to Fill on the camera and I have the latest firmware installed.
    Have you ever experienced similar issues and/or can suggest what might be wrong?

  • @wairrior
    @wairrior 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    When you shoot in APSC mode a 55mm will always be a 55mm. You're not getting more compression. it will appear as an 82mm but will still be a 55mm. You're just cropping exactly the same way you could do it in Post. It' just faster this way...

  • @atephoto

    5:20 DRO: Only affects lower shadows and blacks by increasing brightness, so if you expose for highlights then they would be the same in both LR and Camera. DRO doesn't change the exposure even in Auto mode, only photographer does. I have it on to see and compose highlights to shadows, but I know I have to pay attention to my bright whites to know that I'm correctly exposed, then develope for shadows in post.

    05:30 Hi, Eli. Hope you don't mind that I have to add some information about the DRO/Auto HDR and Creative Style in Sony Alpha system because these seem to be only affected "Shooting in JPG Format and Video". However, Sony Image Edge Desktop applications "DO support" the DRO/Auto HDR and Creative Style in RAW format file. RAW files with DRO and Creative Style. All RAW files with DRO and Creative Style will be shown correctly! Other photo editing software don't support Sony DRO and Creative style in RAW files such as Capture One and Lightroom etc... Although Sony IEDT isn't as fast as Capture One and lacks of data organizer feature, it's still great and save more time in the workflow with it. That's why Sony does not disable this two functions when users choose only RAW or JPG+RAW.

    You only turn off front curtain sync when shooting high-speed sync from over 1/5000 and depending on artificial light backgrounds. Other than that you shouldn't have any problems front curtain on.

    I was using ratings also but I had two memory cards, the Sony SF-G128 & SF-G64, both to unusable and had to be replaced by Sony support. They sent me Tough cards, and I'm apprehensive of trying ratings with these cards cause I'm afraid they'll fail also.

    I have a Nikon D750 and I can delete easy by image after image simply by not moving my thumb of the delete button. The image goes to the next I hit delete and so on. with the ARIII I have to hit play, delete button, use the wheel to move to delete then click ok. Then hit play repeat. It sucks. Is there a simple way like the Nikon where I can delete images without moving my thumb to all these different areas?

    I don't really use the EVF on my A7III, so when I'm shooting in wide and I need the focus on a specific spot, I just tap the screen to put the focus point where I need it. I then press the center button and it returns to wide mode. That seems easier than changing to flexible spot. What say you?

    Hey! You said leave ISO to 100. When I did that, my screen went completely black. When I switched back to auto, it’s visible then. How do I fix it?

    • @elzafarizki
      @elzafarizki 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it depends on the light situation you are in. If you are in a dark situation, you might want to increase the ISO. if you leave that at 100, then it's going to be very dark. When you switch your ISO to Auto, the camera will adjust your ISO automatically. So, it might not be at 100 anymore, it can be at ISO 3200 or 6400, that is why it is visible on your back monitor screen again. Hope this helps! Happy shooting!

    • @EliInfante
      @EliInfante  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ISO 100 because I mainly shoot outdoors. If you're shooting in low light you will need to increase your ISO.
