The only thing I’m kinda disappointed that you didn’t mention about the Shrek, is that the world of Shrek for every film became increasingly stylized and leaned further into a fantasy style world as the series went on. While in my own opinion, the first 3 shrek movies start out in an absurdist fairytail parody, I think it was a better choice to move onto a more serious-ish fantasy I know you said you haven’t watched Puss in Boots the Last Wish, but it does even better worldbuilding than Shrek 4 and Puss in Boots 1
Shrek, to me at least, feels like a balance between both a fairytale parody world and a serious heroic fantasy world (think D&D, particularly the Forgotten Realms). Even with the first two. And even with the parody aspect, the Shrek films work the best when they still have character development and drama even with the parody aspect and humour.
Shrek has basically become the most memed and popular character in all of DreamWorks Animation and I'm sure the extensive style building with each film helped with that.
The first two Shrek films knew what they wanted to be. In that they are a parody of Fairytale cliques and Disney. The third and fourth movie try to balance both being cynical and dark especially with the villains and three just didn’t work. The fourth film I will admit is not my favorite but at least it was balanced better than the third movie.
Joseph the King of Dreams is actually a fairly good movie. Though I wouldn't call it a sequel it's more of a direct to video prequel since Joseph's story actually starts the events that would eventually be ended by Moses.
The list is pretty solid, despite me being disappointed that you didn't see Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. It's one of those movies where you can completely ignore every other part of the franchise and just have a good time.
You are in for a treat with The Last Wish. It is arguably the best animated film released in a decade. That said, I would consider watching the original-as it provides essential character development relevant to the sequel.
Hearing you say "Peabody sent me all the way back to middle school. The film blew my mind as a kid and I latched onto it for a long time despite the film and subsequent Netflix show not being received all that well. People rarely talk about it, so it's nice to hear some praise every now and again.
Honestly, I think Pitch Black would've been more interesting if he were... just that... just darkness. I get wanting to characterise him, but I think if he were stylised in shadows and silhouettes, it'd give him a unique sort of eldritch and shapeless quality that really fits the nature of fear. They could've still done everything they did with him, but had it far more stylised and interesting.
Having him constantly change shape would be neat. I would add two other points: - He is badly in need of a better voice actor. Jude Law just does not have the right voice for this sort of character. - He really needs to summon other creatures. Yes, we get it 'Nightmares', but using nothing but that stupid pun makes for very monotone (in more ways than one) minions.
@@dr.cliche7560to your voice point I think William Dafoe would have been a better choice for the character his voice lends itself well to dark into, intimidating antagonists
For me, Kung Fu Panda 2 will always be my favorite. As a child, I liked it, but it wasn't even top 5. However, as an adult now, holy shit, the movie hits like my dad's belt used to. The villain is directly connected to Po instead of Shifu or Oogway and in a terrifying way. Bringing genocide among the species out of a fear of them being the reason for Shen's own unbecoming. The menace Shen carries in the way he talks, the way he moves, it's cold blooded and ruthless. Po's arc is one of the best in animation history. A topic most movies refuse to get anywhere close to and KFP2 runs with it gloriously. Overcoming trauma and learning to accept your past and use it to better your future instead of constantly running away from it. You can't hide everything, you have to let your emotions flow. Everything this movie does it hits head on. Absolutely phenomenal in every way. I know most still prefer the first, but for me, the second will always be better. On another note, how the hell did KFP2 get passed off by people as "just another kids film" ? I just find that absolutely insane. It literally starts with the genocide of a species and we see murder multiple times throughout the film. Hell, there's even a really unnerving scene that may be sexual harassment related with Shen whispering into Tigress's ear in a sultry way that the 5 would all be part of something beautiful. This movie is fucking dark as hell.
Probably because, like many animated films, it was marketed as a kids' movie, with emphasis on the fun bits. (the first How to Train Your Dragon got the same treatment: rather good coming-of-age story, advertised as a wacky adventure) And to be a bit fair, the movie does have plenty of comedic bits too, though they rarely fall flat or clash with the tone of their respective scenes. But yeah, Kung Fu Panda 2 is definitely one of Dreamworks' best.
Not to mention the villain actually utilizes industry as opposed to magic maguffin number 467, which makes him considerably more imposing. He does not need arcane eldritch artifacts-merely manpower, resources, and the intelligence to develop them.
Now I'm think about how many DreamWorks films are based on books. Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon, Captain Underpants, The Bad Guys, Rise of the Guardians, Home, and even The Boss Baby. Also, my girlfriend's daughter REALLY loves Trolls. Granted, she's 5, so make of that what you will
That was a lot of fun. I do love list/tier videos/journals. They're a lot of fun to listen to or read. Even though, as humans, we are ALL going to have different opinions and takes, and likewise these lists are either going to be very entertaining and fun or just really infuriate us in disbelief, but that's what makes them great! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, my friend.
TheMysteriousMrEnter the Troll hunters movie is actually the series finale of all three of Guillermo del Toro’s tales of arcadia shows, troll hunters, 3below and Wizards. I do recommend seeing all three of them before the movie
I know trolls is a flawed franchise, but I can’t help but love it. I mean you got to give credit to the animators for world building and the use of different arts and crafts textures also in the characters too
DreamWorks is insanely hit and miss. You really nailed it with the "It feels like two different companies" things. Whereas DreamWorks' highs can be some of the best in the animation industry of all time, Pixar's worsts are like on par with some DreamWorks' mids.
Did you know Home was based on a book? I found it in one of those Little Free Library things while on a walk years ago, and it was actually really good. I forget how they resolved the massive gaping plot hole, but the worldbuilding was really interesting and the alien was far less of an idiot.
Dreamworks surprisingly does a lot of book adaptations. However, from what I've heard, the adaptations are vastly different from the books they're based on. Except Captain Underpants, they were fricking loyal to that franchise (which is great cause I'm pretty sure it's the only book series I read that Dreamworks got their hands on).
Rise of the Guardians and How to Train Your Dragon were also based off of books. In fact DreamWorks is upcoming movie, Orion and the dark, is also based off a book.
As a kid, I ended up randomly hyperfixating on two Dreamworks films for about half a year to a year - Monsters VS Aliens and Megamind - and regarding MvA... yeahhh it doesn't hold up the *best*, but I still have a soft spot for it, and I personally feel that Susan is one of the better female protagonists that I've seen in an animated film. I also had a bit of a kid crush on Dr. Cockroach (I may still have a plush of him, not 100% sure)
MvA DOES NOT deserve the flack it often gets. No, it isnt a masterpiece, no, it’s not DreamWork’s best outing by far, yes it has its shortcomings, but Susan is one of the few human protagonists to come from a major animated film and BEHAVES like it. Male or female. She’s the Basic Becky who walks by in a Starbucks, sat two rows down from you in high school, shops at JC Penny, and just wants a normal uneventful married life in the suburbs. So IMAGINE this person has a meteorite fall on them, becomes a gigantic monstrosity, gets taken into a facility with other freaks of a nature, and has no hope again to live the life she wanted. No imagine AGAIN suddenly aliens actually exists and are about to invade Earth, and you’re out in the crossfire, again, how do you think a normal person would react to this unending rabbit hole of topsy turvy? YOU RUN! Susan is not some larger life heroine, she’s a rightfully confused and terrified young woman in a bizarre situation that just keeps escalating. Overs the course, she learns to accept her new role and fate, and becomes the defender Earth needs. Enter is full of shit, let me again stress that MvA is NOT an S tier cinematic masterpiece devoid of blemishes , but putting it next to flipping SHARK TALE of all things (a film I shamefully also admit to having a soft spot for, but I’m not going to pretend is much worth to defend) is lunacy. His gripes are just the typical mold of MvA’s usual detractors, just a sorted spew of opinionated takes that don’t really reflect the actual quality of the film, you could certainly say this movie doesn’t have the most well thought out and structured jokes, which would totally be fair, but just saying “muh not funny” is meaningless. Maybe I’m bias because I grew up with retro cheesy sci-fi/creature features, which this film pays homage to and I appreciated the references, that’s fine. You know what, I actually LIKE this movie more than Megamind and HTTYD, that’s right, I SAID IT, gut me angry internet nerds. I can perfectly acknowledge that Megamind and HTTYD are probably much superior and better structured overall, and I understand why people love them as much as they do, but they didn’t really do it for me personally. I know I’m probably not choosing a wise hill to die on, but fuck it, it’s how I feel, I’m okay with being wrong, I’ve been wrong about worse.
Yeah MvA is one of the only ones I'd rank differently than Mr Enter. It's not great but it's far from F tier. Besides, it spawned a lot of memes back in the day. Good times. I'd say it's an excellent example of a "so bad it's good" dumb fun watch. Certainly doesn't belong in the same ranking as Home, that's for sure.
@@datachu Your sentiments are 100% valid and I’m not saying HTTYD is a bad film even remotely. It’s in many ways a superior film to MvA, but it’s just not one I have a strong affinity for personally, but I perfectly understand why others love it.
Here is how i describe The Bad Guys. Its Pulp Fiction but family friendly. Like the beginning to the end. I got constant vibes of that movie. Also the stylish art style also helped push that vibe, mainly the chemistry between Mr Wolf and Mr Snake is what gave me Pulp Fiction vibes, also Diana Foxington is a mood of a character, along with the rest of the crew.
Wallace & Gromit and Sinbad are really great, especially the former. For Shark Tale, I did find ONE likable character in Shark Tale, it was Mr. Sykes the Martin Scorsese Pufferfish. He's not exactly a character who's morally in the right, but he serves as a better, more sympathetic antihero than Oscar. For The Croods, I find the human characters ugly, but the environments are gorgeous. Even if it does feel a bit like a Great Value version of James Cameron's Avatar. Or a prototype of Trolls. Lastly, Megamind is getting a TV series sequel. And I don't see much faith in the TV series, to be honest.
Joseph the King of Dreams: If anything, keep the soundtrack a listen. I grew up with this film and watched it more than Prince of Egypt. And the Soundtrack is really something to hear. Rise of the Guardians:Where I do see the flaws; the pacing, the ending, but I don't really care as much. This film was inspiring to me, my fursona was loosely based off Jack Frost. I wish I saw it in theaters, cause I would have been blown away by the animation alone..
Would definitely love to see a Kung Fu Panda 2 admirable animation. Tbh, I'm working on a script for my own review of the movie myself, but I like hearing what others have to say about it and there's not many full on reviews of the movie, mostly just reactions
He has said before on his Admirable Animations that he tries to use either more obscure stuff or stuff that he thinks doesn't get enough love, neither of which Kung Fu Panda 2 qualifies for (both a mainstream movie and one that most regard as being very good). But he did review Soul as an Admirable... so maybe he's changed his mind on that. Here's hoping.
8:07 in monsters vs aliens I did not understand the point of that scene. Until I watched a doctor on Steven Spielberg and they showed a clip of Close Encounters of the strange kind where they communicate through music. Then it clicked, this scene was a reference/parody of close encounters. I think it was a bad idea to parody films most people know nothing about😂
Or at least to have the parody/reference take up so much screentime. If you're going to reference something your target audience is unlikely to know about (Close Encounters of the Third Kind was actually a fairly popular movie, but the chances of kids knowing about a 1977 film are pretty slim), just have it be a quick quip or visual gag, not a whole scene like that reference was. A better done reference to that movie is in UHF, where George Newman makes a mound out of mashed potatoes and says "this means something, this is important", which is a direct reference to Close Encounters, but: 1. UHF was made about 12 years after CE, so it's much more likely viewers will get it; 2, the reference is made by someone who is established to daydream about movies, so it can be passed off as just his eccentricity; and 3. the reference only lasts 6 or 7 seconds, not a whole scene.
Maybe I was a weird child but I had seen the Spielberg film before monsters vs aliens and got the joke even as a 9 year old. Although that’s probably not the average experience
It's nice to see Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2 in the S rank along with Shrek 2, Road to El Dorado, the Bad Guys. Though I'm surprised that Madagascar and Spirit are in the Haven't seen / Don't remember tier as they're pretty solid films on their own.
that was the stakes at the start then it became a pointless rescue mission that put everyone in danger because the stolen charater was willing to sell out all his kind to live not 1 or 2 people the whole race of people if they accepted his death and loss they would of been fine
Part of the conflict started because Poppy threw a very loud party with fireworks alerting the Bergen,Chef, and she kidnapped a good chunk of her friends. Even though Branch was the one who warned her not to. Branch did serve as the "Agent of order" in the story since Poppy being the optimistic person she is that needed to learn a lesson. That being optimistic can get you in trouble if you ignore the "unhappy/boring/gray" parts of life
Before even starting this, I really do hope that at the very least, you agree that "Shrek 2" is some top tier material. It does what a sequel should do, has some great music, expands on the universe even more, and it's just a solid good time with pop culture references that still stand well to this day. 👀 "Prince of Egypt" is such a great movie too. Even people who aren't particularly religious seem to love it's presentation and story, like, if all Bible stories were given this treatment, I think we could have had a niche genre of films that would be great for sharing the religion without being cringe or too preachy.
I really respect Captain Underpants for its art direction and how it converted the book's art into 3D. It seems like a difficult feat to accomplish if the style is very simple and not done with a 3D space in mind.
Spirit was like the trilogy of films i watched religiously as a kid. The other two being The Lion King nad Shrek 2. For a fair bit of time i forgot about this movie all the way up until my first year of high school when i was searching for a movie to watch i saw Spirit on the tv and immediately all the memories of me watching it came back. I watched it immediately and loved it all over again. A couple of weeks later my mother saw it on recently watched and decided to watch it. My little brother was there with her when i walked in around the 15 minute mark and she told me how i'd watch it every day. I decided to stay and watch the movie again with her. I adore Spirit still. Its definitely not in the top 5 or even 10 maybe for some, but it really left an impression on me, and i love the memories it gave me.
Most of these dreamworks movies have some of my favourite villains Lord Shen Grimmel Death (and yes he’s a villain shut up) Jack Horner Kai Tai lung Fairy godmother
My favorite villains are Mrs.Tweedy Lord Farquad Eris Victor Quarttermaine Tai Lung Gallaxhar Red Death Lord Shen Chantel DeBois Drago Bludvist Dave Kai Spiny Mandrill Dr. Armstrong Anubis Narissa The VeVe's The Nothing The Chameleon
I saw Puss in Boots: The Last Wish because I had heard good things about it. Now, I am obsessed with it. Give it a watch sooner rather than later. It will blow you away.
Everyone I have seen or spoken to agrees. This movie makes all the correct choices and has great villains and antagonists. Someone loved this movie, and you can tell.
My thoughts about Teenage Kraken is that I liked everything about the movie except the plot. The animation is great, the characters are great, the music is great, the jokes are funny, but the plot is really dumb. How Ruby ended up being tricked by the villain was so obvious and stupid that I genuinely don't understand how the writers thought it was a good idea.
The sad thing is I definitely would have agreed with him at the time. Honestly I’m still holding out for the miracle that the bullshit on Peacock will just get shafted and an actual good sequel will be made but yeah. I mean the odds are better than what they would be for wreck it Ralph at least.
Over here in Europe, Shrek was always taken seriously as an excellent series of animated films (apart from 3). 2 is legitimately one of my favourite animated films of all time.
When you get around to doing reviews of the ones you noted you want to review, you can keep this chart handy so that if you change your mind on a position (or are reviewing an "I didn't see it yet," add it to a proper position), you can.
I would recommend watching the original Wallace & Gromit shorts before Curse of the Were-Rabbit, the two are just so different from each other, for obvious reasons, that how you feel about the movie is going to partially depend on how you feel about the short films.
The canon order is the first three shorts (A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave), the Cracking Contraptions microseries, then The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (the movie), and A Matter of Loaf & Death. After that, play Telltale’s Grand Adventures game.
It’s good to see someone else praise Ruby Gilman. Like, it’s far from perfect (I actually disagree with your opinion of Chelsea, and find her underwhelming as a villain), but but it has an awesome premise and is the most visually stunning Dreamworks film. Look how much their underwater animation has improved since Shark Tale.
Another thing about Dreamworks I've noticed is that they seem to like making (mostly) book adaptations of somewhat niche IP. There's surprisingly a lot of them. However, from what I've heard, the adaptations are vastly different from the books they're based on. Except Captain Underpants, they were fricking loyal to that franchise (which is great cause I'm pretty sure it's the only book series I read that Dreamworks got their hands on).
49:40 released around the same time in the way that “Fox & The Hound” & “Interview With A Vampire” were released around the same time IE 13 years apart
With Trollhunters, start with the show first, then 3 Below and Wizards It's probably best to skip "Trollhunters: Rise of Titans" because there's a plethora of mistakes and terrible writing decisions in the movie. So, don't bother with that movie
But Shrek was never a loving or playful parody. No, it contained all the bitterness and anger that Jeffrey Katzenberg held for Michael Eisner following their falling out and Katzenberg's subsequent departure from Disney, where he worked, to make his own animation studio. The whole story is really interesting, and when you know, you see it VERY clearly
I remember seeing a trailer for Trolls 2 and just thinking that it sounds like the plot has the same mechanics of Avengers: Infinity War. Both movies feature a villain traveling across the universe to collect colorful MacGuffins so that they can rewrite reality to their design.
He just announced that he is doing a double feature review on both movies on his channel in 2024. I don’t know if it will be an admirable animation or Atrocities review but we will have to see
Kung Fu Panda the TV series has a great special with a villian that is intimidating and stick heavy to the lore of the series/movies and why the title of DRAGON WARRIOR EXISTS! Infact in my opinion... that villian should been the villian of the 3rd movie.. but hey... not all is perfect. I say watch it. It's kinda good! A better finale to Kung Fu Panda series.
Even though I did enjoy what we got. I do wish that Dreamworks got the reins to do the Mario movie instead of Illumination. In regards to Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, I'd like to say that it was the second film I watched in theaters twice.
So, the president's piano thing from Monster's Verses Aliens was a reference to the 1977 movie Close Encounter's of The Third Kind, where the aliens communicated through a musical chime
I'm someone who actually really liked monsters versus aliens I'm not going to say the movie is good but I like Stupid humor and the movie is full of that.
Fellow enjoyer of Monsters vs Aliens. I enjoy a lot of the humor too, and there is something kind of charming about it... but yeah, I wouldn't tout it as this great movie.
Peabody and Sherman is the most underrated Dreamworks movie. I’m so glad you put it in S. Maybe I’m biased as a history nerd but it makes me so angry how nobody talks about this film when it’s SO good
Trolls 3 is by far the best Trolls film. Because instead of James Cordin troll, we now have Eric Andre troll! Also a ton of adult jokes. It's just a really fun film, its basiclly a mash up of several music videos strung together with a plot to make a movie.
Wow. A surprise as I myself am currently marathoning the entire Dreamworks filmography myself. Funnily enough, am currently on BEE MOVIE, which is at the bottom of my 5 layer tier list, along with Shrek The Third and Shark Tale. Only one at top tier at the moment is Prince Of Egypt, but I'm sure once I reach the Dragon films that will change
It would be cool if you made a full review on each Kung Fu Panda film I feel like there is alot to talk about in those movies; enough to be worthy of making a full review on it
I was very VERY Afraid Mr. E was going to give Ruby Gillman a very bad score. But I'm very thankful he didn't. I liked the movie too and think it deserved way better than what it got
in monsters vs aliens, I think the scene with the president and the keyboard is supposed to be a parody of a scene in close encounters of the third kind. dont know if that helps or make it worse
As much as I enjoy the film, that reference scene was definitely one of the worst bits. A drawn out bit for really no payoff (since the audience knows it's a robot sent by Galaxar to get Susan) and it just wasn't delivered very well. And for the record, it being a Close Encounters reference makes it a little worse, since it's such a long bit to refer to a movie no child is likely to know (unless either of you know kids who would get references to movies from the 70's) and doesn't really make much sense in the movie itself.
I saw Ruby Gillman for my birthday. I saw it shortly before my birthday, but it was my birthday movie. I loved it! I know it's generally considered a bad movie and people didn't like it but I really did.
With DreamWorks I find it's either really good or really bad with very little in between. I'm going to assume this video is going to line up similar to that.
I always say that Dreamworks is to Disney/Pixar (probably Pixar moreso nowadays) what Sonic is to Mario. Mario is consistent, but can get a bit safe at times, while Sonic is more experimental, which leads to more varying quality. Likewise, while Disney/Pixar movies are usually more consistently good, I find myself liking Dreamworks' output on the whole more, even though it's got a more wide range in quality
I did really enjoy this, and I'm very happy that a ton of my favorite films in Dreamworks' library ranked highly like The Bad Guys, Megamind, Shrek 2, and Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2.
trolls 3 is actually pretty fun it had an intetesting cast some scene are a little dull but most of it is just fun it's basically just a long we are every single boy band joke and the villens are just stolen talent and are fun and over the top vain celebrities also it actually gives depth to the music killed my grandma line it doesn't make it better but give more reason to how emotional destroying it was for branch and why he would reject music completely
I seriously don't understand why you would make a video like this when you haven't seen a solid third of the movies. Obviously people are going to click on this video for your opinion on some of the more popular movies like The Last Wish or Madagascar, or some of the highly acclaimed movies like Spirit or the Wallace and Grommet films. Why even make the video if you're not going to put in the time to watch those?
I definitely agree with you on Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; that was an amazing story. Fun fact, that was actually my 6th grade Spring Concert Play.
Excluding your thoughts on Last Wish I am actually interested to hear what you think about the Penguins of Madagascar movie and Flushed Away. Kinda interested in Puss In Boots 1 too.
I think Puss 1 got overshadowed by The Last Wish. And yeah, TLW is excellent but Puss 1 is not a bad movie. It's good, an easy B tier, IMHO. I especially liked the childhood flashback. And the two movies do make a nice pair - the birth of the legend and the death of the legend.

So, Trollhunters is part 1-of-4 of the series Dreamworks series, Tales of Arcadia. Followed by 3Below, Wizards, and Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans. All of them tell a complete, chronological story revolving around the same group of characters. With the main and side characters switching focus in each of the Series Trilogy, and all being focused on in the film. The story and characters are surprisingly good. But the film...set the fandom on fire, and not in a good way. At least, the last 10 minutes or so did.
Given how the ending retconned certain plot elements, especially related to Jim and Toby, yeah The movie ticked off the entire fandom,in a bad way. Not the biggest fan of Smarty Pants but he explained it better than I can in Trollhunter video
Also, I actually think the first two Madagascar films are pretty good. The first one showed Alex's deterioration into madness that's both funny and depressing. And the second had some of the best jokes I've seen in a DreamWorks movie.
8:00 Ngl I had never even heard of the movie but that scene description sounded hilarious to me so I looked it up and actually thought it was funny 😂 Guess I'm easily entertained lol
47:15 We actually are. Next year we are getting a sequel series for Megamind that is exclusive to Peacock. I'll tell you at this point after waiting for a sequel for this movie for so long, I'll take what I can get.
DreamWorks movies fall into 2 categories

-pop culture references and meme material.
Or wasted potential, like Home.
Megamind is both
Ironically both apply even to most of their best outputs.

I would add two other points:
- He is badly in need of a better voice actor. Jude Law just does not have the right voice for this sort of character.
- He really needs to summon other creatures. Yes, we get it 'Nightmares', but using nothing but that stupid pun makes for very monotone (in more ways than one) minions.
@@dr.cliche7560 As much as I like Jude Law,you're right
He's better in the books he gets a tragic backstory
@@dr.cliche7560to your voice point I think William Dafoe would have been a better choice for the character his voice lends itself well to dark into, intimidating antagonists
Imagine if he was 2D-animated.
As sacrilegious as it is you haven't seen The Last Wish, having it be the film to "end" you catching up in Dreamworks movies is a good idea.
(the first How to Train Your Dragon got the same treatment: rather good coming-of-age story, advertised as a wacky adventure)
And to be a bit fair, the movie does have plenty of comedic bits too, though they rarely fall flat or clash with the tone of their respective scenes.
Granted, she's 5, so make of that what you will
THANK YOU, i don't understand why schaffrillas only sees the bad guys as a movie with good animation and nothing more
That guys a joke
@@hauntedcake4104 not really, he just has some takes i disagree with he's pretty chill
Schraffilas has plenty of awful takes
I mean you got to give credit to the animators for world building and the use of different arts and crafts textures also in the characters too
And that’s why Trolls is a better franchise than Madagascar, get mad Millenials and zoomers.
Good to see ya here
DreamWorks is insanely hit and miss.
Boss Baby was based on a book too. I used to volunteer at the library in my old elementary school, and I saw the book there.
Also, the character named "General WR Monger" is extremely levelheaded and willing to listen to reason
@@alexgomez6723As much as I like MvA, strong disagree, HTTYD is S+++ tier
Best pr0n of any DreamWorks film. I may have contributed to it...
Maybe the Megamind tv show could be fine
There's going to be a Megamind show!?
@@DragonGoddess18DreamWorks does not have a good track record when it comes to TV spin offs.
Eris really made Sinbad a memorable film for me. It's one I would enshrine in my DVD collection solely for her.
@@alexgomez6723 I actually kind of liked the DreamWorks TV show spin-offs on Nickelodeon, but part of that could be from nostalgia.
I love how you used the "No Bitches" image for Megamind.
I watched Puss n Boots: The Last Wish a couple months ago on vacation. It might actually beat Shrek 2 for me.
This definitely a nice late night surprise.
47:15 after seeing the trailer to Megamind 2 do you still stand by that?
It's nice to see Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2 in the S rank along with Shrek 2, Road to El Dorado, the Bad Guys. Though I'm surprised that Madagascar and Spirit are in the Haven't seen / Don't remember tier as they're pretty solid films on their own.
Wait, Trolls didn't have actual stakes? Weren't they trying to escape being harvested for food?
Well they're usually pretty low stakes. At least low enough that everyone makes it out alive at the end.
that was the stakes at the start then it became a pointless rescue mission that put everyone in danger because the stolen charater was willing to sell out all his kind to live not 1 or 2 people the whole race of people if they accepted his death and loss they would of been fine
That being optimistic can get you in trouble if you ignore the "unhappy/boring/gray" parts of life
Well, if the other trolls had any common sense the entire conflict could've been avoided.
Poppy was literally the reason why Chef found the colony. If anything, I would say Branch was 100% in the right.
Before even starting this, I really do hope that at the very least, you agree that "Shrek 2" is some top tier material. It does what a sequel should do, has some great music, expands on the universe even more, and it's just a solid good time with pop culture references that still stand well to this day. 👀
"Prince of Egypt" is such a great movie too.
I would really like to see
Every SONY PICTURES ANIMATION movie ranked.
Every ILLUMINATION movie ranked.

I saw Puss in Boots: The Last Wish because I had heard good things about it. Now, I am obsessed with it. Give it a watch sooner rather than later. It will blow you away.
It’s amazing
Everyone I have seen or spoken to agrees. This movie makes all the correct choices and has great villains and antagonists. Someone loved this movie, and you can tell.
My thoughts about Teenage Kraken is that I liked everything about the movie except the plot. The animation is great, the characters are great, the music is great, the jokes are funny, but the plot is really dumb. How Ruby ended up being tricked by the villain was so obvious and stupid that I genuinely don't understand how the writers thought it was a good idea.
“Maybe one day we’ll get a sequel to Megamind”

Road to El Dorado got in the S tier my man right there i LOVE that film
I personally like Home a decent amount
Sure it isn't amazing, but it has heart and the friendship between the main characters really makes me smile
Just wanted to make sure that the Prince of Egypt is S tier.
Jesus Christ the Megamind Segment aged horrendously
It’s good to see someone else praise Ruby Gilman. Like, it’s far from perfect (I actually disagree with your opinion of Chelsea, and find her underwhelming as a villain), but but it has an awesome premise and is the most visually stunning Dreamworks film. Look how much their underwater animation has improved since Shark Tale.
It’s literally imperialistic and pro-ethnic cleansing propaganda.
With Trollhunters, start with the show first, then 3 Below and Wizards
It's probably best to skip "Trollhunters: Rise of Titans" because there's a plethora of mistakes and terrible writing decisions in the movie.
After hearing your thoughts on the first Boss Baby in this tier list, do you still plan on reviewing it for Atrocities 200?
He just announced that he is doing a double feature review on both movies on his channel in 2024. I don’t know if it will be an admirable animation or Atrocities review but we will have to see
You do not have to worry about spoiling Ruby Gillman. Dream works did it themselves in all of the trailers. That is why I have yet to watch it.
that and it is so predictable and generic, that it's not even worth your time
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was like the one animated film that just blindsided everyone with how good it was.
Don’t expect Enter to understand simple things.
I'm someone who actually really liked monsters versus aliens I'm not going to say the movie is good but I like Stupid humor and the movie is full of that.
Guilty pleasure?
Fellow enjoyer of Monsters vs Aliens. I enjoy a lot of the humor too, and there is something kind of charming about it... but yeah, I wouldn't tout it as this great movie.
MvA gets too much flack and so much criticism leveled towards it is really bad faith.
Peabody and Sherman is the most underrated Dreamworks movie. I’m so glad you put it in S. Maybe I’m biased as a history nerd but it makes me so angry how nobody talks about this film when it’s SO good
Joseph King of Dreams is not a sequel but more like a prequel that takes some few hundreds years ago before The Price of Egypt.
Trollhunters is a decently fun adventure story with really well thought put worldbuilding
Id be down for a full Monsters vs Aliens review.

It's a very odd parody of that scene
This is a long overdue ranking list and now it's finally here.
Aw yes the studio known for great character stories, about half of the time
With DreamWorks I find it's either really good or really bad with very little in between.
They should really make a sequel to Bee Movie which follows a fish and is named "Sea Movie"
I did really enjoy this, and I'm very happy that a ton of my favorite films in Dreamworks' library ranked highly like The Bad Guys, Megamind, Shrek 2, and Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2.
Antz was quite a well done film. In an era of overly safe films, Antz was masterful in exposing kids to the darker side of entertainment.
Antz is fantastic 👏 😁
trolls 3 is actually pretty fun it had an intetesting cast some scene are a little dull but most of it is just fun it's basically just a long we are every single boy band joke and the villens are just stolen talent and are fun and over the top vain celebrities also it actually gives depth to the music killed my grandma line it doesn't make it better but give more reason to how emotional destroying it was for branch and why he would reject music completely

Troll hunters/Tales of Arcadia is such a great franchise with a very . . . Ending

In what way was the movie negatively received
Given how the ending retconned certain plot elements, especially related to Jim and Toby, yeah
The movie ticked off the entire fandom,in a bad way. Not the biggest fan of Smarty Pants but he explained it better than I can in Trollhunter video
The immense irony of Rise of the Guardians is that Australia hates rabbits so much that they officially killed off the Easter bunny.
Also, I actually think the first two Madagascar films are pretty good. The first one showed Alex's deterioration into madness that's both funny and depressing. And the second had some of the best jokes I've seen in a DreamWorks movie.
Every up and down I still love dreamworks

Ngl I had never even heard of the movie but that scene description sounded hilarious to me so I looked it up and actually thought it was funny 😂
Guess I'm easily entertained lol
Glad you’re taking a break from the high guardian spice sludge to make a video on good media.
Shrek 2 is the best imo. Also, damn, quite the undertaking. Respect ✊🏼
Puss in Boots The Last Wish is
Shrek 2 should be number 1. It’s iconic
47:15 We actually are. Next year we are getting a sequel series for Megamind that is exclusive to Peacock. I'll tell you at this point after waiting for a sequel for this movie for so long, I'll take what I can get.
Prince of Egypt was my school's old standby for when the teacher was too hungover to teach.
29:35-29:40 Hunchback isn’t underrated anymore. It now gets the attention it deserves.
