This episode is a gem, a sight for sore eyes. Though not 100% faithful to Agatha Christie's book, it is, along with "Death On The Nile", the very best. Everything's perfect here, from the cast to the set and costumes. And I must say, what a masterstroke to play Erik Satie's Gnossienne. It adds to the overall feeling of sadness and nostalgia. I never get tired of wathcing this, time and again! As for David Suchet, he is second best to no one when it comes to impersonating Hercule Poirot! Thank you for sharing this with us!
I've seen articles claiming that Agatha Christie thought Albert Finney the best actor but I think had she seen David Suchet that opinion would have changed!
@@sarahpeart6500 Indeed! I'm entirely with you on that! Even when he does not impersonate Poirot, David Suchet is a wonderful actor. I saw him in a flick about Stalin. Unfortunately, I can't seem to remember the title, but the actor's performance has been etched in my memory, that's for sure!
I got the reprinted series, I don't have all the poirot ones, but I think I have all the Miss Marples ones (they have what appears to be Christie's signature on them)
What an incredibly sad story of one man's insatiable ego-centristic selfishness and other people's lives which were destroyed by him. He is the perfect example of what happens to a person who is never told no.
You are a perfect example of someone who likes to repeat other peoples obsevations....( true òr false...) and think you sound intelligent because of it. "Someone who's never been told no" ìs such an observation ,which has been chewed down to the bone....
Like in practically all Christie's tales there doesn't seem to be clue one as to how Poirot arrives at his astonishing reevaluation of all the seemingly so damning witnesses accounts. David Suchet let's us forget this kind of trivialities easily. Found the music obnoxious but now I read it is Satie and I must get out of this underestimation somehow. Wish me luck!
*** SPOILER ALERT!!! DO NOT READ AHEAD*** xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I have recently watched the episode and read the book, and can't help thinking it would have made more sense for Elsa to kill Caroline instead of Amyeus?? That way, she could have continued the relationship. The younger sister is a more logical suspect given Poirot's reasoning, or even Philip or the governess. Welcome feedback!
I don't know, because in my opinion Amyas is the one she had the relationship with, and even though she learns that he and Caroline still love each other and have no intention of divorcing in the end, it's Amyas who has more responsibility in her eyes. He's the one guilty of leading her on. So Elsa felt humiliated towards Caroline, but felt sadness, rather hatred, towards Amyas ! :) And personally I understand her
@@gayane3213 So, Elsa killing him is a hate crime? Even though she went on to marry others?? Thank you for your feedback and comments, though. Interesting!
@@dlgm161 Yes, in my opinion, since she felt "dead" ever since the murder of Amyas, who was, for her, the great love of her life, the rest of her life, the husbands she may have had were of no importance to her. And please, this is by far my favorite Agatha Christie book, I love discussing it !! :) If you haven't seen it, check out The Hollow (or better still, read it), I find it "complements" Five Little Pigs

One of the best episode of the series
One of the best and hardest stories to watch 😢
I have the book. Actually I have a collection of Agatha Christies books. They are falling to bits but I still read them. Best crime writer ever

Beautifully made and acted. Everyone was wonderful. I didn know Poirot had adventures without Hastings and I didn miss Hastings at all!
Quite a few. Some after the Mystery at Styles because Hastings went off with his Cinderella! But he comes back towards the end
The dumb blonde side kick.
What a powerful story, supremely rendered in this episode.
I love a good Poirot mystery. I've seen all of them and he plays his role very well.
I adore this one, beautifully directed and acted, with additional layer of quality on top of the novel which is masterpiece itself too

Surely it's about a WOMAN'S insatiable ego-centric selfishness? The truly guilty?

"Someone who's never been told no" ìs such an observation ,which has been chewed down to the bone....
Small masterpiece's......tremendous acting ...good script.😘
Un elenco increíble. Magnifico todo.
Agatha at her best.
Maggie Smith's son gives the most compelling brilliant performance.
So nice ❤❤
Amazing even after watching it many times!!
Little finger... game of thrones
❤❤❤❤❤

İ Read This Book's
hope you made lots of $ on the ads, there sure were a lot of them.
Hackett Path
And then she was sent off to St. Trinians.......
Awfully sorry fear Maggie Smith whom I admire, but I can't stand her son Toby Stephens' permanent sneer and haughty look, talented though he is.
That just means you don't understand how good an actor he is
