    Sorry to hear about your hard drive. Actively spinning drives are VERY delicate. Love the recommendations for accessories. One tip: "Zhiyun" is actually a compound word in Chinese meaning "wise cloud" if you pop that word into Google translate you'll hear the correct pronunciation. To my ear, it sounds like "chew-ying". I saw that tip in a Chinese TH-camr's video on the Weebill S.

    I just got my weebil S last week and watching you i also bought few accessories e.g. tripod quick release, small magic arm and led light. Thanks for this tips, i'm fond of watching camera stuff, gadgets etc. I love the grip of the weebil S than my crane M2 for a girl like me, but i now realized you guys are truly amazing coz it's not easy to get great video footage! i'm still learning - baby steps hahaha!

    Enjoyed your video a LOT....I was a technologies Manager at Paramount Studios for 25 years, and as such I have enormous experience in Hard drives and Backups systems. As a consultant I handled Backups for a digital marketing company (right there on Canoga by Arnie Mortons) where I backed up 200 servers constantly, 24/7...including the marketing servers for Guitar Center, Joanne Fabrics, Harbor freight, etc....and I will tell you that one HUGE issue that I NEVER see addressed in YT videos like this is BACKUP....My favorite Saying?...."back it it up or Pack it up". I am often amused when a friend mentions that they just bought a new 10TB drive and they were excited because they could now keep all their files in one place. It is always fun to watch their faces drop when I ask them if their 2nd 10TB drive was the same brand....because if you are going to buy a drive, you HAVE to buy another drive (or multiple drives) that equal or surpass the main drive in capacity. and of course, they have only bought one, with no backup planned....because if you do NOT have a fully functional B/U system in place....you will WILL lose everything eventually....not "if", but "when". It is SO easy to set up B/U systems these days....I also Backup up My backups....because HD space is SO cheap these days. I would HIGHLY suggest that you create a video on your experience with this, and document how you B/U your files....it might not be the most exciting video for people to watch, but it will ultimately be the most valuable.

      Agree 100% with multiple backup systems. I film simultaneously with 30 cams when on location for 10 hours....& keeping footage secure and accessible is challenging.

    It might be a year since this video was posted and I would to help you since you helped many of us with your brilliant tips. It would be best to get a solid state hard drive because it doesn't have moving parts. Its more durable and won't crash if something like a fall happens. I normally get an internal SSD and turn it into an external with an enclosure case. It comes out more affordable and you can choose different hard drive sizes to suit your needs.

    Ok I am backing up now. I watch your channel because you give great realistic advice. This one video helps anyone who listens to this one suggestion. Do not know how I missed the battery pack video but I will go check it out. Yes lockdown is intense here in LA County. But it is a good time to experiment with gear combinations. Thanks for sharing, as usual after listening to you, I am glad I am a subscriber!

    In addition to these accessories, I also use the awarding winning, 'Ifootage Cobra 2 C180-II' glass fibre light weight monopod (with the detachable mini tripod), on my Zhiyun Weebill S and Crane 3 Lab.
    Okay - it is a little expensive, but I can achieve smooth, level and rock steady articulated shots (using a two hand operation), with this monopod - similar to using the manual stabaliser / gimbal system, but not as heavy on one hand, as on the stabaliser 'grip hand'.
    The monopod can extend up to 6 ft in length and is very light, rigid and strong, ideal for overhead / low to the ground / through windows and doorways and tracking shots etc.
    I personally find that you tend to have so much more freedom when using a monopod, such as this!
    (I have tried using my manual stabiliser and my full body stabaliser vest system, with my Zhiyun gimbals - but I feel both are too restricting, as well as being heavier)
    Does anyone else use this type of monopod with their gimbals....?

    • @MrPhilbautista
      @MrPhilbautista 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here. The nice thing about this combo is it's so easy to take the gimbal off the monopod and attach it to the feet, giving the setup a lower profile when not in use or when you need table top shots.

    Good video but... you might have mentioned that the quick release adaptor only comes with one attachment plate to put on the gimble side of things! To use the adaptor as you use it, you need to buy two of them. I just found this out when I ordered one and discovered it only comes with one attachment plate. If I'm wrong in this, please do correct me before I order a second adaptor.

    There are data recovery options out there! I think TH-camr Louis Rossmann has a tech who does recovery from the disk platters.
    Going forward all drives should be RAID and a cloud backup solution might be good too. Need a fast Internet connection for big video file backup though!

    Are the Zhiyun quick release strong enough to safely attach a Crane 3S using a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter? If so, it would be convenient to move the gimble from the tripod to the Thanos SE vest.

    SSD is the answer for backups, when they fly they are still good (unlike the old disc drives)

    • @IanHobday
      @IanHobday 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      SSDs have their problems too and can be nearly impossible to recover data from if they fail. Big enterprise quality HDD in RAID arrays are still the best option for on-site storage.

    Question about the battery pack: Can it be used on the Zhyune Crane 2? Reason I am asking is because I find myself needing extra juice for my Crane 2. I can't find any extra batteries anywhere and I was curious to know if I can use that battery pack. Thanks in advance!
