Thanks for stressing the fact that it's needed to first load and then change the speed, bc not all the operation manuals say that, or it's unnoticeable for beginners. I've shot with Zenit E and Zenit EM before and gotten quite good photos, but I've forgotten many things now after quite a few years, so I really appreciate this video, thanks!
Also there is one nice feature. When you set your speed button to “b” position, you can push and rotate the shutter release button anti clockwise and it will be blocked for the desired time. To stop the exposure you should push the button and rotate it clockwise
Wow this is a really useful video, I'm about to purchase an old model. Probably doesn't work just wanna have it as my first antique camera collection. But to see the actual camera working and the way you're explaining it step by step it's just very informative and makes me wonder how great the designers/engineer's have came up with the mechanism♥️... You deserve a ton of views by the way sir. Very informative video... Also thanks for warning about the speed dial...
Thanks a lot! That’s a great review!! You explained everything so much better then those Russian guys whom I usually watch, even thought now lots of people in our country are trying to find such cameras in the granny’s houses :)
Hello , please tell more specifically about what will happen to the camera if you change the speed of the film before you cocked the trigger and where did you find this information , btw great review
Hello. Due to the particular design and construction of the Zenit E and Zenit EM curtain mechanism, the speed selector knob is directly connected to one of the springs that operate the correct tension and return of the two cloth curtains of the shooting mechanism. When you do not cock the camera and change the speed, you are twisting that spring and that alters the tension of it. Such action in the long term will result in the loss of tension of the whole curtain mechanism, resulting in an incorrect operation and return of the curtains. So, basically by changing the speed without cocking the mechanism damages the correct tension of the springs inside it. I hope it is clear. If you hacve oine of this cameras, you now can operate it the correct way, and it may be no harm to the camera, because the way to cause damage is by repeating the incorrect operation in the long term. This was told to me by two of the camera mechanics that fixed two Zenit E for me, as well as other Zenit models. I hope this is clear and helps you. Any other doubt, leave it here and i will try to solve it. Thanks for your positive comments.
Hello! I am about to buy one of these Zenit E and I just found out from you that speed rotation only after cocking thr mechanism. Is there any way to check if it was not operated correctly before buying? Without inserting a film and taking pictures... Thank you :)
Espero sea claro.
I am totally a newbie with film cameras and i had this model from parents. The review was extremely helpful but i have one question: the difram is not always 2.8 right? How do we choose correctly which one to use with the proper speed of course
@@pedrogabrielmejia6093 thank you for replying! My question is more about how to know which is the right combination to choose after adjusting the circle.to the line.
@@xeniasimeonidou7746 Hello Xenia. I hope it is not too late. I have made a new video in the chanel explaining how to do that operation with the light meter. I hope it makes it clear.
Pedro could I ask you a question please. How do i set the camera to work with my flash gun? It has the appropriate cable but is there a setting to trigger the flash or should it work when the cable is plugged in? I cant find the answer to this online and have tried with no success. Again, excellent review! ❤
Hello again deena. I Believe the only speed that triggers the flash is 30x, so set the camera in 3px and see if it works. Also remember to set the flash selector to the X position.
