Grazie
When the power switch is on, are the meter displays in the viewfinder always active? Or do you have to press the shutter button partially to activate it?
I have a Zenit 12C with telephoto lens.
what type of batteries does it use
I found what I needed at around 14:00 of the video-there is rather too much in this video, would be good to add details of time-stamps. Once I found it it, it was exactly what I needed.
Thank you Pedro! Very informative video.
What size battery ???!!!
Thank you so much for nice comparison video, I have ttl 📷
Too neat features: (1) smoothest film advance lever movement in this world or any other; and (2) it has the Copal vertical shutter allowing for faster flash sync. I believe it is 1/100 vs normal horizontal shutter flash synch speed of 1/60. I don't need the auto function bells and whistles of program shutter found on X-700
My first thought was, "They'll be teaching us to tie our shoes next." Then I realised that nearly 2 generations have grown up not needing to know this stuff. Nicely done !
Nest to crank the winder in small amounts . Cranking in heavy handed one stroke ...it wears out the mechanism You too heavy handed
Really really good video. I wanted to start analog photography but had no idea how and there isn't much of tutorial videos for zenit 12. Thank you!!!
Great camera if you can serve it
You have explained in a 17 minute video what I couldn't grasp in days of researching film cameras. Thank you for this video! You have real gift for pedagogy, and explaining complex matters so that they are understandable! Very excited to be shooting with my Zenit 11 :)
wonderful video, I just got a zenit E and was a bit confused buy soviet build :D
Thank you! This was explained perfectly.
Does the timer need battery to work? Mine goes back to original position instantly and doesnt time it :/
Hello, no, the timer does not need batteries to work. The mechanism is purely mechanical, so there might be some issues with yours, howhever, if it does not affect the overall operability of the camera, you are good to go, it would be jsut a minor defect in your particular unit.
I sound that converting ISO to Din on my Zenit E gave me a more accurate position as to where it should be
Hey, guys. My Minolta XE7 gets its mirror locked up whenever I shoot on AUTO mode. It works just fine on manual. Now I know this is usually a sign of low battery, but mines are brand new, so that's not the case. Even if I shoot on auto mode and the mirror locks up, if I just change it to manual, the mirror will come down right away. Does anyone know what could it be?
THANK YOU!!! I've been looking for something like this, I'm super new to photography but I've fund this camera series and just loved it.
This instruction video was extremely helpful.
great explanation, sadly my lightmeter is broken but still nice to know how it would be used :)
That is normal, the cells of the meter decay with time, still, if the camera is mechanically good, you cba use an externa meter and keep using it.
@@pedrogabrielmejia6093 of course!:) I just got my Zenit ET - looking forward to shooting the first roll with it Might look into fixing the meter at some point down the road, but for now I will follow sunny 16 or phone meter app to get an estimate:)
Also there is one nice feature. When you set your speed button to “b” position, you can push and rotate the shutter release button anti clockwise and it will be blocked for the desired time. To stop the exposure you should push the button and rotate it clockwise
Thank you very much for this tutorial! I now have the confidence to try out my Zenit E!
thank you very very much you helped me alot ilearned many things from your video❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi, I have a similar camera 😁 Do you know if it is possible to remove that little stub at the bottom of the camera? Thanks!
August 13, 2023---Think I got this kit around 74-75 when I got stationed at Sunnyvale AFS, in Sunnyvale, Calif. Remember, back then, NO internet but there was Famous Aircraft Of The World, published by some company in Japan. Then in 77-79, was stationed at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska where I bought not only Revells George and Tony but their P-38 which came with drop tanks and rockets. Those molds were lost at sea when Revell had the molds shipped by ship, with the ship sinking. Still got the kits, unbuilt.
Hi, I have a olympus lens 75-155mm I want to know if is compatible with zenit 12xp
Hello, it depends on the lens Mount. If you have an m42 Mount (screw thread) it will work, if the lens is olympus M Mount, it wont work.
Thanks for answer, you help me a lot :D@@pedrogabrielmejia6093
Thank you very much for a great explanation! 😊
Me has ayudado mucho, Pedro. Gracias. Compré un Zenit 11 el otro día y no entendía como funcionaba el fotómetro 🙂
I have the Zenit ET camera with the original leather case and I wanna sell it. If anyone wants to buy it, reply to my comment
Great explanation of exactly how to work the light meter. I have several film cameras but none of them have this style of light meter so I wasn't really sure on it's operating.
Very good review! I would like to get a Zenit SLR, but not sure which model should I get, dose Zenit E has better build quality than EM or TTL ones?
Hello, well that dependa on what you want and what you find. The overall construction of the zenith camera is the same, my only advice is to get the metal ones, there re some plástico modela (exterior). The E sieries are much more manual, while the ttl and 12 hace the incorporate electronic light meter, so it is up to you.
@@pedrogabrielmejia6093 Thank you so much for the reply!
Where can I buy the rolls for 12xp??
Hello. I recently got a Zenit 12s film camera and I cannot get the light meter work properly. No matter which setting I use it only reads underexposed which only works on the 500 ASA value. On the lowere ASA values the needle just jumps back tot he middle. I have replaced the battery but I'm having the same issue. Do you know what can cause this issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Maybe its something to do with the battery itself?
To anybody who used it: is limited range of shutter speeds gives some considerable inconvenience? I used a camera with much better range before, don't know how important that is. Thanks!
maybe someone can tell me how to check if its working.
great video, thank you sir
Thank you so muchhhhh, I've just found an old Zenit 11 in my house and your video has been super helpful for meeee📸
You glossed over the DOF Preview button on the Shutter release side of the camera, in fact you said that side of the camera was "Clean", with no buttons???
Thanks for this video! I have a ZENIT 12XP and really wanted to put it to use for fun and this helped me a lot understanding it a bit better!
This was a great video and perfectly in depth. thank you!
Thanks, really nice overview of what a collector should look for when buying one.
Great explanation ! Thank you!
Thanks for this video Pedro, it helped me
Wait oxide?! You are the reason I have a ratnik kit sitting in my closet
one question, is it possible to change the selenium?
I've just bought this baby for myself and I needed this tutorial. Great help. Thanks!
what kind of battery do you need for zenit 12?
