In this video, I take a good look at Dirty Down Rust to see how exactly this much hyped hobby product works. I tried using it in every way I could think of, just to see how it reacted and how the dried result looked.

I don't paint miniatures but I found your channel from a short and I've been enjoying your videos.
Probably the best vid about DD Rust on yt. The comparisons of different techniques and application methods are extremely helpful
Thanks, mate. I'm glad that you found it useful.
Really thankful for this video. Excited to try some things out w/ my DDR and great to learn from others' experiments
Very deep testing - very much appreciated. For me it looks like mixing up with water is the way to go.
Don't forget DD suggests having the model be warm before painting it, or you can make up for this with a hair dryer.
Great vid! It's good to know that DDR can be used in a few different ways. I've previously seen it only as a light covering, but knowing that it could be splodged on for that deep rust colour is good too!
Thanks, man. I'm glad you liked it. It is a pretty versatile product. I'm already eyeing up the rest of the range. 🤔
Glad someone did this - nice video thanks.
No problem at all. I hope it will be useful for you.
Brilliant varied techniques reviewed. Between this and the feral painters rust video, along with some of the artis opus review - everything’s covered. This was great for the variety of effects.
I know this video is over a year old, but do you now feel that you’ve changed tact at all with the methods of use in that time ? I know the “cotton bud” / q tip or wiping with a tissue / cloth seems to now be what is mentioned ?
Have you considered just using a q tip and lightly rubbing it to soften the transitions
Should have wet it and used a paint sprayer or spray bottle, or dabbed it a paper towel
It's just a bad, over priced over hyped product.
