That's actually how I've been making jabchae for years, ever since a Korean colleague I've met in NY told me about this technique of soaking the noodles first and cooking everything in one pan. The noodles don't stick as much when you pre-soak them. It's even easier if when you make a vegan version you don't need to cook the omelet or the meat beforehand 👍
I made it today. It was so easy and quick. I never made japchae coz i thought it would take so much time. But now, all my friends and family can enjoy japchae thanks to you. Thank you, maangchi.

@@Maangchi Hello Maangchi, Unfortunately I don't have an Korean store in my vicinity. I bought the noodles after seeing your original japchae recipe over 2 years ago. Saw this easy version today, and just had to make it with the ingredients I had on hand. No spinach, so I used the greenest parts of a cabbage. No pork, but I had some fake meat that used with your same marinade, which was very tasty. This would even be an easy weeknight meal. I think you are the only cook that I've actually followed and made more than 3 or 4 recipes. I had never tried kimchi before making your recipe, it was great, and I shared it with friends that loved it too. Thank you.You are an amazing cook and teacher. Can't wait to try more of your recipes.
Maangchi, you are amazing! This was delicious! I had to make a few changes though. I did not have brown sugar so I used regular sugar, I also didn’t have spinach and mushrooms so I used bell peppers, carrots, Koreans radish, enoki mushrooms and onion. My family was ready for dinner so I had to speed things up and so I used my instant pot on high pressure for 3 minutes. I was literally crossing my fingers the Japche wasn’t ruined and so...to my surprise....it turned out amazing! I loved it and my family loved it!!!! THANK YOU!!!
Cool idea to use the instant pot. But cooking this doesn't take that long either on a regular pot. 3 mins as compared to 10 minutes. But I guess it does make a difference to a hangry family. LOL
Saw this video and an hour later we were eating the most delicious japchae. Can't wait to try cooking this one pot meal in the woods on a hike, while collecting wild wood ear or mushrooms. Will soak the noodles and mix the sauce in advance.
Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦. So happy to have found your channel. My daughter lived in Paju Korea for a year teaching English. She mentioned a dish that was sesame leaves. She doesn't remember what it was called. She is vegan now and I love to cook for her and would like to surprise her with making this dish. Thank you.
Dear Maangchi, I hope you know how ICONIC and you hold the title of Queen Korean chef on TH-cam!!!! I love each and every video of yours and I really do learn a lot about korean culture and cuisine because of you!! Love this recipe and will make it next!!!
I have come across your video some years ago. I like the warm homely feel u give while cooking. Its like watching a mom cook while her kids wait in anticipation. And yes, you are becoming more and more beautiful every year. Thank you for these delicious cooking videos!
I love you Maangchi. I just ordered your newest cookbook and I can't wait to get it and start cooking. I made Kimchi from your recipe and I love it - just wish I had added in more gochujang. That stuff tastes so good but its like eating gasoline, it is so hot. Your videos are terrific. Please never stop
Hi, @Maangchi! I just sent my mom your newest cookbook as a Christmas gift! She has been interested in Korean food and cooking for a while, so I know she'll love it. Thank you so much for making wonderful cooking videos for everyone. I wish you and your loved ones all the best this holiday and new year!
Maangchi, my grandmother usually doesn't like foreign food. But, when I cooked japchae for my grandmother, she loved it. She even asked me to make other Korean dishes such as tteokboki, gimbab and of course kimchi, she really fell in love right away. My grandmother even called me "Dae Jang Geum" because of that. Big love from Indonesia ❤
She really reminds of me of my Mom. Japchae looks so similar to pancit stanghon here in the Philippines. My mom and I used to cook together during fiestas and holidays. We use a very large "kawali" (frying pan) and dapog (hearth) to cook lots of food for visitors. Miss those times.
Love all your recipes and your videos. Korean Food is one of favorite Asian foods. I’m glad a simpler way to make Japchae specially I’m a mom who is busy and sometimes I don’t want to spend a lot of time cooking. Thanks you always.
I just watched your previous recipe and now this one.. the fact that you re-created a new simpler recipe is truly amazing! Looking forward to making this!!
This is a wonderful way to making japchae. We love Korean food, and I've made this dish in the traditional way several times, which was time consuming. Tonight I made this in the layered way, wow it cuts down the prep time tremendously and it's less greasy too. Thank you for this tip!! I now can make this noodle for my family a little more often 😆😄
I made it tonight for dinner together with kimchi soup. We all have to stay home as a result of Covid-19, this recipe was so easy to prepare for small family compared to the traditional way. Everyone love it, so colourful adding some comfort to all coping up at home. Thanks Maangchi!
This recipe is so easy and the Japchae came out so good. Very impressed. I shared this videos with all my friends and family and urged them to make it asap :)
Hi Maangchi. Hello from the Philippines! I have learn so much from you about Korean cooking. My kids love Korean food, that is why I always tuned on your channel for fresh cooking ideas. Would love to have a copy of your book. Keep the good food going!
Thank you so much, Maangchi! I love Korean food so much but I haven't had any since I relocated and there aren't any Korean restaurants here (the only one available closed indefinitely following the lockdown so I wasn't able to try even there). Japchae is my absolute comfort food so I am super happy and thankful to see this recipe that can be made for smaller groups. I think I can actually make this! God bless you!
Great recipe Maangchi! My husband and I enjoyed this wonderful japchae for the first time for lunch today. I LOVE your cookbook! I have been going through each recipe and always yielding an amazing result. Thank you!
One thing i like the most about Maangchi is how she always cooks with clean hands and nails. I see a lot of TH-cam celebrities cook with painted nails, which is dangerous, because people don't only copy your ingredients/techniques but also your style. Salute for Maangchi for always giving a good example 👏

Congratulations!
Cool idea to use the instant pot. But cooking this doesn't take that long either on a regular pot. 3 mins as compared to 10 minutes. But I guess it does make a difference to a hangry family. LOL

😘keep making awesome videos!
Thank you.
Oh my goodness, this looks so much easier than you original recipe and still looks just as good! Thank you so much for this video Maangchi!!!
Dear Maangchi, I hope you know how ICONIC and you hold the title of Queen Korean chef on TH-cam!!!! I love each and every video of yours and I really do learn a lot about korean culture and cuisine because of you!! Love this recipe and will make it next!!!
Maangchi can you make holiday specials series? Desserts, or even meals, that can be served for christmas parties or family gathering/reunions.
Wonderful!
I hope she loves it! Cheers!
Oh My! My mom loves it so so so ....... much. This easy Japchae becomes my family's No. 1 dish. Thank you Maangchi !

I made this today. It’s my first time making Japchae and it tastes great. I will definitely be making it again 💗 Thanks for the recipe
Glad you liked it!!
I was skeptic watching you pile everything into the pot, then presto!!! It turned out amazingly delicious. Thank you Maangchi.
I just made this today with pork and I couldnt believe how good it was. So delicious!!!! Cannot wait to have it again. Thank you, Maangchi! ❤
Congratulations! Continued success with your Korean cooking!
I love this dish. I made it today and worked well and tasted good! Love it. Thanks.
Congratulations!
Big love from Indonesia ❤
yay! I'm so happy to hear that! Happy cooking! : )

Hope you enjoy!
Love that you’re open to trying new methods with traditional dishes!! Thank you!! 😍
I tried your easy japchae recipe and it turned out so delicious, just like the ones at the Korean restaurant! Thank you so much!!
Fantastic!
Recommended! Truly easy! For someone like me who never cooked can make it for the whole family
You made this! 👏

I made this today and it came out so good!! My family loved it. Thank you Maangchi! Lots of love from Singapore

I made it tonight for dinner together with kimchi soup. We all have to stay home as a result of Covid-19, this recipe was so easy to prepare for small family compared to the traditional way. Everyone love it, so colourful adding some comfort to all coping up at home. Thanks Maangchi!
Wonderful!
So easy but healthy. What a great week day meal!
I love your program ..n ur dish too
This recipe is so easy and the Japchae came out so good. Very impressed. I shared this videos with all my friends and family and urged them to make it asap :)
Awesome!
best easiest recipe ever!
The greatest chef is here!!! With love from India.. 😍😍😍😍
I think Japchae is my favourite Korean dish. You taught me how to make it. Thank you.
My mouth is watering from how good it looks, and with ingredients easily found in Portugal. Thanks for your hard work, Maangchi.
Hi Maangchi. Hello from the Philippines! I have learn so much from you about Korean cooking. My kids love Korean food, that is why I always tuned on your channel for fresh cooking ideas. Would love to have a copy of your book. Keep the good food going!
Thank you so much!
I just made my japchae today. Its so delicious and colourful. Its easy to make.I love your cooking.
Great 👍
Thank you Maangchi 😘❤️ You're a great and amazing chef❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much, Maangchi! I love Korean food so much but I haven't had any since I relocated and there aren't any Korean restaurants here (the only one available closed indefinitely following the lockdown so I wasn't able to try even there). Japchae is my absolute comfort food so I am super happy and thankful to see this recipe that can be made for smaller groups. I think I can actually make this! God bless you!
Good luck with making delicious japchae!
I just brought your cookbooks are these recepies in your cookbook thank you
Yes, it's one of my cookbook recipes. Happy cooking!
Great recipe Maangchi! My husband and I enjoyed this wonderful japchae for the first time for lunch today. I LOVE your cookbook! I have been going through each recipe and always yielding an amazing result. Thank you!
Thank you so much! Happy cooking!
Genius! This really is easier than traditional way. I can make japchae more often with this method 👍
One thing i like the most about Maangchi is how she always cooks with clean hands and nails. I see a lot of TH-cam celebrities cook with painted nails, which is dangerous, because people don't only copy your ingredients/techniques but also your style. Salute for Maangchi for always giving a good example 👏
I've got to try this easy one, I still cook the classic way. This should be good especially for single person I can take the rest to work.
