Ayye been watching a few of your vids and i appreciate the content. I'm in a similar situation to what you talked about (before you started plumbing) and its inspiring to hear how well it worled out for you. We all had our dream careers but the reality is we all got bills to pay and having financial security and being able to build for your future is fundamental. I'm actually looking forward to working in an environment where its different scenary and different people and different problems to solve everyday. Seems way more intriguing than sitting in an office all day staring at screen. One thing that concerns me is that i hear stories of plumbers working 50+ hour weeks sometimes, and i really would prefer around 40 hours for good work-life balance. What has your experience in the trade been with that? Does it vary from new-construction or service? What have you seen from other companies and other plumbers?

What’s up bro! I’ll try to answer this question best I can with what I’ve learned over the years.
Firstly, when I started out in this trade I had the mind set to do whatever it took to get me far from the situation I was in. So I didnt mind the long hours.
There are companies who like to get in and get out after 8hrs but,
there are those times when the job just has to get done and over time is a must. Like anything it’s all about what you want and what you willing to sacrifice til you get it. That’s up to you.
The main thing I’ve learned through this is to have a plan so your sacrificing will have a deadline and eventually you’ll get where you’re trying to go. Hope this helps! Best of luck man don’t forget to enjoy the journey! 💯

When I started as an aprentice I had the same worries: will I be able to work for more than 40 h ? Now, in my second year I have the opposite problem. Those extra hours are payed so well that I have to remind myself to go home. As long as you have a good team that allows you to grow and learn you should work as hard as you can, to become faster than the other aprentices your best version.
