I rented a car and drove from Montego Bay to Kingston back in the 90's. Crazy, scary and fun all at the same time. Going through the mountains with people passing on the other side of the mountain. Yikes. This does not look like the same route I took though.
LOL! Nice vid! You seem lost a bit lost in the beginning! Those sudden turns and you driving on the incorrect side of the road! LOOL! I always hear foreigners complain about that issue when they come to Jamaica.
That little righty there at the beginning nearly cooked your goose. I feel your pain. Happened to me too. Got out of the airport In MoBay, did OK until I turned onto the kingston highway and drove straight onto the right hand side of the road. That woke me up a bit
The route that the person takes is basically underdeveloped because people don't usually use that route. He could have used routes which much better roads and development.
I'm not sure exactly where this is, nor knew such a thing even existed, but I hope as I'm typing in 2019, that they have knocked it down and started from scratch. I, as a Jamaican am appalled that anywhere in my country looks like this, whether rural or not. These people will buy 10 million phones and be as big as a barrel and get money from abroad, but somehow won't even buy a can of paint for their home or build a wooden fence? I bet they all have satellite tv as well. The government needs to do something about it, especially the dirt road leading all the way to Kingston (that one for me is the shocker/big kicker). I haven't seen any other rural road like this. These people in this area must be lazy and are not saying anything.
Pheeeww. (exhale) you made it. iffy there for a bit especially when you got to Spanish town. only one question. who chose that route. There are much easier and faster ways to get from MoBay to Kingston. Don't say GPS lol
this is madness, driving like that, surpose someone is crossing the road, riding a bicycle, accross that country road now, you kill them then you say you sorry. Drive conciously, defensively expecting anything up the road, according to the terrain, weather, time and visibility. School could just let out, or a car break down around the corner, now you see how you could foolishly waste your life or someone else's. Respest, and drive safe my youth.
One more thing respect to all the taxi and mini bus drivers. But this one here is about the reckless and careless operators, if you do not respect your life, respect the life of your passingers, who pay you to take them to their destinations " safely ", for it is better to get there safe than never at all or dead. Skill driving is obeying the rules of the road, being aware of terrain and weather, time, and traffic. Speeding over the solid line on the wrong side of the road by pass five or six cars is not skillful driving, that is moronic, and wiillful negligence, playing with the lives of the passingers and yourselves. Peace.
I visited Jamaica in 1991 and we drove over all the country in the three weeks we were there. You HAVE to eave the tourist areas to see the real Jamaica. But be aware, it is a dangerous place.just exert common sense...
Knutsford Express. super comfy busses and VERY professional staff. Trust when I say that service like you would not believe. No I don't work for them . Check their website
Yikes! Where is this exactly? This looks VERY SLUMMY (and I am Jamaican btw), and I have never seen this route before. There is no excuse for this in 2013. It doesn't even matter if its rural or not, because there are many well maintained rural areas. This looks like some third world place in West Africa somewhere. These people can't afford a can of paint or find some wood to build a fence? But I bet they have two cell phones and satellite tv in their houses and get money from abroad from relatives. Some of them are even big and overweight. It doesn't matter if people travel this road or not, the gov. needs to knock it down and start over. Its even a hurricane safety hazard with these tiny flimsy homes with zinc walls and cardboard roofs. Jeff, I'm just mad you have the world thinking we have dirt roads and little zinc homes! lmfao Why did I even get recommended this video? lol
Why did this person take this route? No bus will drive this route. This route is VERY rural and has a lot of bad roads. There are so many, many more easier routes, with much better roads, you could have taken. You too the route in the hills.
Janice Liles lol I hope nothing went bad with you. But that never happens to me driving in both countries. Just the indicators and window wipes usually confuse me

How long is the actual drive from kingston to montego bay, since you seem to fasten the video?
2 and a half hours
So how far is the drive... If driven normally??
Looks like a fun trip
Interesting how beautiful some parts are and then some parts look like a third world country. But i still love the jamaican food, culture and the ppl.
