  • Highway built by Chinese as part of 700 million USA dollars investment in Jamaica. Road is welcomed, because it bypass the dangerous bog Walk gorge, that floods when it rains heavy. Many also have died falling of the 400 year old flat bridge.

    Correction, that is not the Bogwalk Bypass. You have to go through the Gorge to go on to the Bogwalk/Linstead Bypass. That is the Angels entrance/exit of the Edward Seaga Highway. A part of Highway 2000. But a good video for those who aren't familiar with the area.

    _The white look of the exposed hillsides along the highway signals that the soil in that particular area is composed a mineral deposit called _*_Calx in Latin or caliche in Spanish_*_, mainly constituted of gravel, sand, and nitrates, found especially in dry areas of South America. Can also be described as an area of calcium carbonate formed in the soils of semiarid regions from small crustaceans, it may indicate the possibility of an ancient seabed._

    now ,they need to put in Rest stops along all these new toll roads with toilets ,gastations,restarants like Golden Krust grill,mothers patties,Peppa Pot restaurant,shoping marts.selling the areas produce and gifts ,parking lots to fit at least 50 vans,cars,and must be located next to a local village where the employees must come from, so those country villages can sustain and develope too.and no european junk food please !.only jamaican foods,,rasta cuisene and african style catering ,,all fry fish venders must put a restarant at these rest stops .that would add tons of value to the driving experience.

      @@vortexlover7310 Mountainous terrain, bridges mad overpass built, specifically one major bridge over the Rio Cobre and deep gorge. Land acquisition, and the fact that much of the equipment and materials used to construct the road was imported. My video does not show the entire highway, because the entire highway was not open when i shot that video.

      @@AFN41 ahh.. okay. Thanks for all the info! One more question, how long it took them to build it?

    • @AFN41
      @AFN41  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vortexlover7310 They did it in segments. The first segment called mount rosser was constructed about 80% by french contractors, because of land slippage. The Chinese in a deal with the Jamaican government, took over the incomplete French segment, completed it, and opened that segment in about a year. Then the other segments were completed in about three years. My timeline could be off by a few months or so.

    People please remember, you cruise on the slower lane. Outside lane is for overtaking only!! You all adapt to American style driving - No road discipline. Be careful!
