    Great review! I've had mine for six weeks. I've put about 400 miles on it. No problems whatsoever. I don't use much higher than level 3 and primarily level 2 on pedal assist. Great exercise with some help when stopped or in crappy spots that my destroyed right knee doesn't like. Love it and I'm amazed at how quicly the battery charges and how long it lasts. And I should also be selling the damn things. I've never owned anything that gets more compliements from strangers than my green Aventure. Every single time I stop, somebody makes a compliment. Love the bike.

      How about the brakes ? I hear that they are not sufficient enough for the weight of the bike. Have you replaced them or does it depend on how you ride it. I love it. Looks like it will be my choice. For the 1900$ price. Sales are starting too now. I'm buying this from a local shop incase any issues with it. I heard that customer service is hard to get .

      Thanks so much! I was a shooting star with motorcycles in my early 20s. Nearly became a hood ornament through no fault of my own twice in one week, then started having literal full-on in my sleep nightmares about getting killed while riding. I rode one more time to park it somewhere I could more easily sell it, and that was it for me. I might take in an electric trail bike at some point, but my road motorcycle days are well behind me. lol

      Yep, that’s what I meant by electric trail bike. Zero is actually having a demo day just down the road from me in two weeks. I’m going to stop by and see who is there. Outstanding review, I had already decided and purchased my Aventon Aventure, I got the step-thru model, so I went with the M/L red. I also bought the front and rear racks, I got both racks already and got notification that the shipping label was created today. Can't wait to get my bike, I started building my own full suspension E-bike two years ago, but what I didn't count on was it being so difficult to get 26" x 4" fat tire wheels with disc brake capability. I put about $5,000.00 into it and it's still on the bench, because I can't get the wheels. I bought three complete set of wheels, but none have disc brake capability and the bike is too heavy and too powerful to try using cruiser brakes, the mid-drive motor is 3,000 watts. i do plan on completing the build at some point, but I need something to ride in the meantime. Thanks again for the video, it really shows the capability of the bike. I've watched other reviews, 4 others to be exact, but yours has more coverage of what I think most riders want to know. Great job! 🚲

      @@timthrash2145 I went riding again today and I've got to say every time I get on my Electric Red step-through Aventon Aventure I get a big grin on my face. I just love how the motor responds when I hit the throttle, then I start peddling and it just kicks in even more. I love going up hills that I couldn't pull on my mountain bike standing up, and just gliding up them while sitting. I only use the throttle to get started, then I'm in either PAS 2 or 5, I hardly shift down anymore, I pretty much stay in eighth gear, except for the most demanding of hills and then I don't go below 3rd gear. I wear a helmet that has lights on the helmet as well as turn signal indicators, for safety and I find myself using the lights on the bike more, since it is getting darker earlier, that way I don't have to stop earlier. I know I'll have to stop riding sooner eventually, but I'm getting in every minute I can. 🖖😎🚲

I own a white Cinch (Love it) and awaiting desperately for the arrival of my wife's red step through Aventure. This video has made me jealous of the larger and beefier Aventure. • @specialist-in-tech
      @specialist-in-tech 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rad orders are getting cancelled left and right for many of their models, as people learn about Aventon, who has been a REAL bike builder and TRUE manufacturer for years, before Rad even came into existence. Once Aventon started manufacturing ebikes, they took off like a rocket, and are not looking back. Plus Aventon has dealers, and rad has NONE, so now Rad is going to hemorrage money big time to build up a mobile repair force, and that will go belly up just like Beeline did, because Mobile is incredibly COSTLY, and no one will pay the real fees that are needed to support it. The mobile repair guy does not even do 1/3rd the number of repairs per day that a shop mechanic can do, bc they dont have all the right tools or electric lifts, and they spend WAY too much time in traffic, or chasing away owners dogs, or the nosey kids. I love seeing Rad just hose away all that VC money on a mobile business that is a proven flop. Velofix independents have lost their shirts and many keep going under. Those trucks are WAY too costly to outfit, and its a really horrible job for any mechanic, as you work in the heat, and are cramped, or outside in the blazing hot sun. So Rad and all these other on-line only players are going to see more and more and more cancelled orders and not just on their Rovers, but other models that will be clobbered by Aventons Pace series, Levels, and Sinch models.

    Really appreciate your honesty in your reviews, your in depth approach to your reviews, and your overall assessment of each product that you review.
    E bikes in general/aventon adventure in particular, what are issues encountered when flats occur while riding??

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There isn’t anything unique to Aventon with flats that isn’t shared by nearly all hub motored ebikes. The hub motor is generally bolted in place instead of held with a quick release skewer. That means it’s best to patch a tube with the wheel in place, if possible. Replacing a tube is a huge pain on the trail, and you can only do that if you brought wrenches with you in the first place.
      That’s why many ebike owners pretreat their tubes with sealant and/or run tire liners to reduce the chance of a flat in the first place.

  • @sandyantor
    @sandyantor 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cables stretch and derailleurs need to be adjusted. A lot of times, that’s right out of the box, but bike shops do that before selling their bikes. Easy to do yourself. We LOVE this bike and wonder- for those with the where-with-all, why don't these E-bike companies establish a factory here and make their own parts? I, for one would be willing to spend a little more for American made and know parts would not be a problem. Hello, my wife and I enjoy your TH-cam videos. Thanks for the great work and info. We have two questions for you. We are considering buying either the 2021 Rad Rover 6 or the 2021 Aventon Adventure. We are leaning towards the Aventon 2021 model because the design is cleaner. Which do you recommend for first-time bike buyers?
    This brings me to the second question. We want to buy the bikes in the next week or two but don’t want to purchase the 2021 models and then find the newer 2022 is released soon after. Do you know when the following models will be released of either ebike? And if yes, what newer features will be added? Is there a link with the info you could share?

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ll answer out of order. Bikes don’t have model years. Both the Aventure and the RadRover 6 Plus are the latest and greatest multi-surface bikes from their respective manufacturers. I have no line on what they’re secretly working on, but anything new being released by either would be a different bike and not some incremental upgrade to either the Aventure or the 6 Plus.
      Rad Power Bikes is the big gorilla of the bike world. If you buy from them, you are supported by a bigger company with a larger user base.
      That said, the Aventure is available in sizes, which cannot be overlooked. It’s a great looking bike, too.
      Either would be fine for a beginner, though smaller riders would benefit from getting the smaller Aventure.

      @@TheTechofTech thanks for the info. Unfortunately, the way Rad lists their dimensions differs from the way Aventon lists theirs so it is hard to compare. It appears that the Aventure has a shorter reach and shorter standover height but the Rad lists a lower minimum seat height. Is that accurate? I have a NCX seat post that adds some height so at the minimum setting, the Rad is barely low enough for me. The Sondors is not even close to the Aventure. Sondors is a bulky ride, and does NOT have the quality of Aventon's hydroformed frames, nor its 21700 Tesla format higher density Samsung cells. Sondors does NO engineering, no design, and again is just putting their logo on a 3rd party cloned extruded frame. You won't get it until you ride both side by side, and feel how refined the Aventure is. People buying Sondors on line sight unseen, and the rads or the himiways are total fools. I fail to understand why those trails would require a fat tyre bike? Maybe a more suitable bike like a gravel orientated steed would proof faster and more energy efficient? Ditch all the pig iron suspension, guards and mounts? The big tyres will give a more forgiving ride with low pressures and sticky rubber but I'm not sure that's needed in the terrain ridden on this route. Your review of your bike is good and its great your out and about, however there are other options for this type of riding. Check the specs on the bike , its as low as they go.

    Aventon is the only brand I have seen being sold from an actual bike shop. This is important as I ran into major problems trying to get my Juiced e bike worked on. 90% of the shops turned me down. Not sure why exactly. Something about liability or whatever. Had I known this and had I known a bike shop in my city actually sells these so-called direct-to-consumer e bikes, I would have bought the Aventon from the bike shop who would obviously have serviced the bike. I really like the Aventon ebikes. However, the one thing I do not care for is the HUB MOTOR. Although Aventon offers one of the most powerful hub motors, it simply does not engage your drivetrain as does a mid-mount motor. No matter what gear you put your sprockets in, you are still going to go at the same speed as the hub motor. The speeds of the drivetrain only apply to your leg power on a hub motor driven ebike. Whereas your speeds of the sprockets are directly driven by a mid-mount motor. Mid-mounts use the drivetrain of your ebike, hub motors DO NOT. Not to forget that mid-mount motors have about twice the tork of hub motors.

      @@TheTechofTech The problem is not the type of technical issue with the bike. THE PROBLEM IS AVENTON'S UNFAIR DECISION TO MAXIMIZE PROFITS AT THE EXPENSE OF EVEN ADEQUATE CUSTOMER SRVICE. I know I can have the bike repaired independently, but why should I have to do that when I paid good money for a BRAND-NEW bike, which is supposed to be fully functional.

      No bike can be expected to survive shipping without something needing tweaked. When you buy from a bike shop, they do the tweaking. When you buy direct, you’re the one who has to do the tweaking. Since you seem more interested in complaining than in getting help, I’m guessing everyone will see where the problem is.

      @@TheTechofTech Again, NO ONE is expecting perfection, and whether the problem can be easily corrected or not is NOT THE POINT! Sorry, but you my friend continue to miss the point of my complaint: Basic customer service and essential technical support are not a lot to ask for, but unfortunately Aventon provides neither. AVENTON NEEDS TO IMPLEMENT A VIABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM AND THEY NEED TO DEPLOY AN EFFICIENT TECH SUPPORT TEAM. If customers never complain, then the company finds no need to improve. As an influential TH-camr, you could be an advocate for the average person instead of trying to coverup Aventon's deficiencies. (Big discounts, maybe?)

      I’m literally trying to help you myself, but you aren’t interested in getting help. You’re just interested in complaining.

      @@TheTechofTech I can't find anywhere that the weight capacity of the bike is increased over the cleaner and more accessible step-thru design, so why would anyone choose this frame style? Am I mistaken about the stiffness?

      It's more about leg length and riding preference. What is your inseam, and what bikes do you currently ride?

      i have a road bike and i believe it’s a 26cm? am not too sure on that but my inseam is around 27 1/4” inches

      I think you’d be OK on the medium, but the small is probably a better fit. I can’t make that decision for you, though.

    I'm surrounded by mesquite trees, how do the tires hold up against mesquite thorns?

    • @TheTechofTech

      No tires can hold up to thorns like that. You need liners and slime.
