The first three movements (different 'views' of the same music) always melt me. "The Tuneful Blacksmith" is Handel having a joyful romp. It would make the Great Sphinx smile.

All I can say is... what a talented pianist. No matter how many time listen, both the Allemande and Courante holds a spot in my heart. I first came to know this piece from the Air - Harmonious Blacksmith, but the former 2 movement is just so nice....
No one plays this heavenly gem the way de Larrocha does. Granted, she romanticizes it but when the Sisyphean cantabile melody reaches into the higher notes, she creates an emphatic crescendo that is incredibly moving.
Always superb. I like to call her the "Spanish Rubinstein". Not only because her "physical format" is similar but because her music reading is similar to (the old age) AR's.

Preferisco di gran lunga Richter...ti fa proprio immaginare la bottega del fabbro che si riattiva piano piano, che utilizza i vari strumenti, che batte il ferro...la trovo bellissima. ❤

No other pianist could be so majestic and playful at the same time. Her playing, as always, is tremendously exciting. Absolute mastery and genius.
