Ooooh new plants - exciting!!! It's going to look amazing! Yes I wanted to film at the plot one eve this week - rotavator going one side, a lawnmower the other - I thought if you can't beat them join them and started strimming 😂 (although of course I should have gone to the garden centre!!) Happy gardening Maiju 💕🌱
😂😂Yes, I have been doing that, too - starting the lawnmower or some other noisy job myself, too 😀 But this time I didn't want to fall behind in the cottage garden area, so it all worked out quite well, except for the lack of plants, I could have brought more, I still had some space left in the van 🤣🤣💚🌿 Have a great day at Malvern! 🤗
Aww, thank you 😊 it's so much harder to match plants 🪴 especially when you don't have a whole collection in front of you 😅 But I'll try to make the best out of it 😊💚🌿
With me it's the neighbour's strimmer - I'm sure he sees me putting my tripod up as a signal to go on a mammoth sowing session! It's going to be well worth waiting for though - really looking forward to seeing it develop!
😄 Thank you, Jane 🤗💚🌿 We have the neighbourhood dogs barking sometimes as well, and because of that, if there's a gardening YT video, and there's dogs barking on the background of that video, I'll get a PTSD 🫣 and cannot continue watching.... The barking seems to affect me more than any machinery noise... The cottage garden area does have great potential 👌 😊😊💚🌿
It is really exciting to see your ideas for your country garden area. I cant wait to see it later in the year. You seem to have made great plant choices. I love your garden center. Thank you so much. I am really interested to see the planting & how they will work together. It is a difficult thing to do to put the plants together in a harmonious way. Thank you so much 😊
Thank you 😊 I totally agree with you, it is not easy to combine the plants and I have found it is slightly easier when you can do a bigger shopping haul in one go as you can harmonize them in your ''shopping trolley'' a bit, but for that to work, you'd need the budget and plant availability😊💚🌿
Hello, I am a new subscriber and in love with gardens, dogs, and Ireland! I am enjoying watching all your videos and seeing the evolution of your property. You have such a lovely home and landscape. I too find it difficult to start a new garden and make the right choices but I find it is an ever changing endeavor. The plants decide where they want to grow! I do get a bit overwhelmed at the garden center, like a child in a sweets shop! All the best to you and your family from Massachusetts! 😊🌲🌳🌲
Hello to everyone in Massachussetts 👋😀 and a very warm welcome Sherry 😊 Thank you so much for your kind comment 🥰 You are so right about the plants will grow where they want to 😆 and we will continue to learn and adapt💚 Have a wonderful weekend 😊💚🌿
So do you have a team of gardeners hiding in the background behind hedges like Charles Dowding 😂😂😂, I am amazed at how gorgeous and huge your garden is but you make it all look so easy to maintain. Oh your garden is going to stunning and take time to sit with a cuppa and just look. Have a marvellous weekend Maiju and Spud, Ali 🌞🇨🇦
Haha, Ali 😂Of course I've got a team - me, myself and I 🤣🤣, all three of us 🤣 Thank you again for your kind words, it has not been that easy to maintain and when I was poorly, some areas of the garden definitely got neglected, but feeling stronger now and TH-cam has definitely been a huge part in keeping me on track and pushing me forward 😊💚🌿 But the aim is to make the spaces more manageable and still enjoyable and I think planting up and mulching will make it all easier 😊💚🌿 Have a great weekend 🤗 Best wishes, Maiju 💚🌿
Ooh wow what a garden centre spree I love it! I have started to really enjoy learning about shrubs and boarders so this is a real treat! Your local garden centre looks massive! I am really looking forward to you planting them all out and establishing in their new home ❇️🌸❇️xx
Same here, Laura 🤗💚, looking forward to seeing it filling up, considering the plants, the slugs will be delighted haha😂😂 another few shopping trips to do 😉💚🌿
I love the shot of the bee in the beginning. I am really looking forward to your update on the cottage garden. I am doing a cottage garden area for the first time this year. It is good to start early. I find it absorbs so many plants though I will have to get more. 😊 Thank you so much for your wonderful videos.
Thank you so much 🥰 Very kind of you 💚🌿 I love to see the bees happy, especially when they're new plants 😊 The cottage garden is needing a lot of plants 😄 omg, but at least I do have a lot of the core plants bought, just more fillers needed... Bloom garden festival this weekend 🙌 so good time for inspiration 🤩💚🌿
@@spudsandroses I was glad to see you got some Weigela. It is a wonderful plant. 💚 It flowers for a really long time. We have never had any problems with it. The Bloom festival looks interesting. The tickets seem a bit pricey! I can hardly even justify the €5 each for the rare plant fare at Fota! 🙂 I prefer to buy plants with the money if I can find some nice ones! I do not even know where to begin with regard to the planting layout of the cottage garden area. I have put the plants out in the area. but I am baffled! Some of the english cottage gardens look wonderful, majestic & natural I wonder how they do it. I will do some research. 🤓 I did watch the chelsea flower show each day on TV... it took such a long time. I got 1 idea. but its a good one !!
@user-mc9tq7zk7s that's great to know Weigela is not a fussy plant 😀, thank you 💚 The tickets for Bloom are pricey indeed, plus the travel cost. I missed out on the Fota sale, and I also didn't go to the Mallow Garden Festival this year, which is very uncommon for me, so I thought I better not miss the Bloom 😆 Luckily, there is a lot of inspiration out there for the Cottage Gardens, but I totally agree that when it comes to getting the plants and planning the space, it gets a bit overwhelming 💚 I've bought some plants online from Irish "garden shops" and the plants are itsy bitsy tiny, some have died etc, but at the same time cannot buy them in the local garden centre, so have to take a chance on the online options 😊💚🌿
@@spudsandroses thanks for your comment. perhaps the same growers will be at bloom that go to mallow & fota. I was going to do an online order with one of the companies from the festivals. But since you had a bad experience & the fact that I like to pick the plants myself makes me think going to one of those growers in person might be a better option. I will have a look around at different plant options & see if anything special is required. I also have a good garden centre near me & they get new things very often so it is interesting to see what comes up. Plant count for my country garden area has increased by 3 today! I got some nice plants from the garden centre! 🙂 I know it does not matter but I still have all the plants layed out in the country garden area in pots. Maybe I am afraid to plant them😊
Oh wow, that garden is going to look amazing. Tricia has worked hard in the home garden getting all our bought plants in their final places. Things will mature and fill the space and your will have paradise in your own garden. Loved watching your pondering, when the chainsaws started lol. Lovely video 🥰 Love Allie & Tricia xx
Hi, ladies 🤗💚🌿 😂 My brain seized up, when I heard the noise.... and there is nothing relaxing about continuous chainsaw noise.... I hope Tricia's hand is on the mend 😊 It will be lovely to have the cottage garden area planted up, and as you say, the plants will mature and fill the space, too. Mind yourselves and best wishes, Maiju 😊💚🌿
Hi Maiju, sometimes we just get days like that but it gave you time to wonder around (although busy) garden center and you have got some lovely plants. I may have to take a look around the local nurseries to see if they have any delphiniums the one's you got look lovely and I miss having them in the garden.
Wow Maiju, that garden is going to look stunning when you have finished. It's always annoying when you get the camera out and somebody starts using power tools isn't it 😂. Lovely collection of plants, looking forward to seeing it finished 😊
Great progress, even if it wasn't what you had planned initially. And maybe having more time to think about the composition before you started planting was a good thing in the end?! It's going to be beautiful :)
