U need to play or watch the MK11 story to understand why some characters are changed and why there are new characters. MK1 is set in a new timeline that Liu Kang created since he became a Fire God after merging with Raiden.
Kameos assist the main fighter during battle. You select your main character that you wanna play with and then you select your assist partner. Kameos can extend your combos, freeze opponents in place, give you armor and much more. Each kameos has it's own moveset that makes them unique, for example shujinko can copy the moves of your opponent while kung lao can teleport you. Hope this helps. Also the kameo's fatalities are simple because they are recreations of classic ones.

The fighter Nitara is actually voiced and face modeled by Megan Fox. Yup he is General Shao with the time line being set before he became ruler of outworld. Lui Kang became a elder god in MK 11.

All the characters in this game are basically new version of old characters (which is why Liu Kang is a god, Raiden is not a god and Shao is just a General, not a Khan), and the same goes for the Kameos.

Hey Seb, you definitely should check out the Fatal Blows! Essentially replacing MKX X-rays, theyre like the non lethal super move and in this game they DO incorporate the Kameo character youve chosen. Definitely worth checking out too!

Seb should react to Blues Brothers (1980), I mean it's an absolute classic and a must watch film! Fun fact: It had the most amount of wrecked cars in any movie at that time (103) and that amount wasn't passed in a nother movie untill Blues brothers 2000 with 104 wrecked cars.
For context: at the end of mk11 Liu kang and raiden fused and Liu Kang killed the goddess of time and space aswell as taking their position and then reset the timeline, which means Liu Kang is now the god of space, time, fire and lightning
yea you gotta check out the lore on this, like after Armageddon Raiden is the only one left so he goes back in time to the first MK to prevent Armageddon and that leads MK 10 and MK11 time travel storylines so the timeline gets messed up and Liu Kang inherits the fire god power in MK11 so he restarts our universe from the beginning for this game, that's why its MK1.

just FYI Liu Kang and Raiden fused into one to be able to beat the bad guy from the previous one, so that's why he is so powerful now

Kameos are secondary characters with just 4 moves you can tag into the match for a single move once in a while, they're not fully playable.
