Please tell more about decorating and switching out quilts. I moved into my condo about 15 years ago, I hung my wall quilts and they have not moved. I placed my quilt ladder and the quilts that are on it only changed when I decided to donate one. And I have an old sewing machine in a table that I stack quilts on - I just add to the pile... (I don't make "seasonal" quilts, I make VERY scrappy quilts.) So I don't feel as though any of mine say "Summer" & they for sure are not holiday specific.

babies….even dog babies. I adopted a puppy Dec 19th, she was 7.5 weeks, I haven’t sewn since, except for patching a couple pants. Have been training her to lay on a bed in the sewing room so I can hopefully resume sewing. I have a quilt top I need to quilt, missed using it this fall.

I have another question. (I watch your TH-cam and also listen to the podcast, so I get different questions as I re-listen!). I have an older line of fabric I am using to make my granddaughter a quilt. There is not much left out there, even on Etsy. What is the best way to find a good solid color match to use for borders, sashing, and backing? The line is not from Moda so I can't match a Bella Solid easily.

I would so so LOVE 💟shows based on your past fabric collections. I have been hunting down fabrics from all of them. been lucky enough to find precuts and yardage from all going back to Creekside. that means 10 quilts from past fabrics alone. plus i have Emma on pre order. i have been loving every new find and searching your patterns and books for quilts tp make from them. then i hope to have lots of scraps for some amazing scrappy projects. i would love to see what you have made from the different collections. also, do you have a list of your patterns that have been published in books and magazines, that are not available through A Quilting Life or Chelsi Stratton Designs? thank you for adding so much to my sewing life.

I'm a D&D enthusiast, so don't count out that crowd LOL! I spend literally hours preparing for games and love listening to Critical Role episodes while I quilt.
I wish there was another way for TH-cam channels to monetize besides the ads, because they always pop up in the middle of the shows when important things are being said. Or at least a way for the ads to only be at the beginning and end.

Hi Sherri & Chelsea. I enjoy listening to your family podcast. When you say you finish a quilt in a day, is that the top, backing with quilting and binding? I wish I could finish a whole quilt in a day. I don’t know a long arm quilter in my area so have to do all the work. Do you do quilt as you go when you do your own quilts? I’m thinking of doing that so it could be quicker and easier for me on my regular sewing machine since mine are usually gifted to people and there’s a timeline.

  • @theresabaethke4983

Good morning!! You are killing me with all the talk of your new quilts!! I can’t wait to see them. I have a question for you Sherri. You mentioned having a lot of gift ideas for Christmas gifts and I was wondering if you could give us some ideas for gifts for men and boys. I struggle with that. Most of my family are males and all of the quilting I do is very feminine. Ideas?

In the Summer I tend to do less quilting simply because it can be so hot and I my condo does not have AC. There is no way I am going to turn my 1700 watt iron and heat the house up even more. Instead I try to get up early in the morning, take my list of projects I want to do in the fall and start cutting everything I will need to make the quilts. While cutting is not my favorite part of quilting it pays off when October rolls around and I can just start sewing all those quilts without having to cut the fabrics. People think of Oregon as being fairly cool in Summer, but last year we had temps over 116 degrees and believe me, you do not want to turn on anything that generates more heat.t may be why I live for Fall to arrive and I can get back into making quilts.

I used to quilt in the winter and knit in the summer, since I could take the knitting outside. Now, I'm totally into quilting, so I no longer knit. Someone I met in a store once told me that she brings her sewing machine out onto her patio in the summer! I've never tried that. Even if the machine is in the shade, I'd be concerned that pollen would get into it.

Chelsea - I love your facial expressions this episode!
As far as summer sewing, I torn between sewing more because I don’t want to go outside when it’s 115, but I also kinda don’t want to do anything when it’s 115. 😂
As far as Christmas in July, there is also the added deadline of when you need to get your quilt to your Long Armer in order for them to finish it by Christmas. It’s common for long armers to have a deadline of October or even September for a guaranteed by Christmas return date, as September - December are often the busiest months for long armers.

Happy 2 year Anniversary! I look forward to listening to your podcasts on Monday they never feel long enough! I just love to listen to you three. I’ve been doing a lot of seasonal stitching this year when it is that season. Currently I’m doing a Strawberry quilt 🍓 for Summer time. I’m not good at completing things though. Only things I completely lately are bags. I’m very intimidated by the quilting part. I’m going to look at a used long arm machine this week so I can get those unfinished projects completed! Binding is my favorite part so I’d love to have some to bind. I have bound for others since I love it so much though. Thanks for another great podcast!

I have used tips and tricks to find matches to your fabric collections and love it! I went out and found some of your older collections, found that on your blog- it was a great help!!

Really enjoyed your podcast again! Love the interaction you all three have each time, along with all the info and sharing of your quilts. I love Christmas in July sewing, it somehow is more fun, than when our late Fall and Winter months hit here in the North. Looking forward to your next podcast and sharing!

Where it’s winter now I think Christmas in July works well! Congrats on two years podcasting. Best quilt podcast in my opinion.

Congratulations on two years and now into the third! I’ve listened since the beginning and enjoy each episode. Billy is adding strength to the podcasts and sharpening his skills as well. Appreciate you recognizing the difference with summertime and sewing schedules. Keep up the great communication skills, enjoy your family dynamics.

Hilarious! My daughters call my youngest "the Prince" too.
