Thanks for indulging me in a review that's accidentally more about reviewing than it is about the review itself. I'll be back in a few days with a more straightforward take on Citizen Sleeper 2. In the meantime, I'm officially soliciting opinions on this: should I begin experimenting with an X/10 scale or stick with the X/5 I've been using since the channel's inception?
Please keep the system, it’s in the personal idiosyncrasies and comfort with your own metrics that the most perceptive and helpful review articulation occurs, especially when you are self-aware and generous towards the game as you are here. There will always be a balance to tread between giving viewers overly high expectations and seeming unfair to the game itself, and whilst systems can usually be improved I feel you’re doing just fine. I deleted my first longer response by accident but, even though I like your present system, we’re not here for the numbers so do whatever makes most sense to you! Thanks for your efforts and keep up the good work
Granularity is good to add some nuance but it can also become an headache. IMO, it comes down to how you feel about it, like how constricted you feel with the current system. Maybe try to do the exercise with a few representative game you already rated ? For instance, does it seem easy to rate them out of 10 without getting lost in a circle of readjusting each note because it never feels "quite right" ?
Thanks for the feedback! In the past, I recall feeling paralyzed when scoring games across a 10-point scale due to the granularity you mention. But that was long ago-might be time to experiment now that I'm more confident as a reviewer.
I miss the days of RPGs having characters like Dragon Age II's Isabela, who had thousands of deaths on her hands out of selfishness, and can easily completely abandon you. I wouldn't fret over the metric, it's good enough that it's more informative than the four point scale.
I can't remember why I never got into DA2 after having adored the first and enjoyed Inquisition. Might have to circle back to it someday (probably after giving Veilguard a fair shake). And thanks for the scoring system feedback. It seems the general audience consensus is to stick with what I've got, so I'll do so :)

I think 5 keeps it concise like to me anything past the 3/5 is a would try game thats my cutoff but thats just me love your vids❤
Maybe stick with x/5 but allow half steps increments? This way you keep the same structure as you've been using but with more fine tuning!
There's no point in a x/10 system where the only scores anyone ever gives are between 5-9, it's just an x/5 system in disguise

If you didn't see anything at that timestamp, you're clearly more innocent than am I.
