    One of the many benefits of being retired is not having to deal with these trendy, empty, bs office words.
    Sure there’s no “I” in team……but there ARE the words “eat” and “me.”

      Yep..part of the Socialist Communist jargon being pushed in 2021..I used to hate "team meetings" a total waste kf time for the poor workers that really had to pfoduce something!!! I was always suspicious of these "meetings" and wondered if they were being recorded!!!.....

      Two years away myself... there’s nothing more empty than attempting to listen to or read anything disseminated from the mind of corporate America. The words you derived from “team” are the exact ones I utter to myself anytime I’m forced to listen to, read or watch some training “module” which does nothing to help me in my position. I cannot wait for the day when I walk out for the last time and never look back.

    You have to be a "team player" who thrives on "teamwork" to make it in corporate America. And yet studies have shown that the best ideas are generated when one person sits alone in a room. I think I read that somewhere, anyway!

      My parents never used the word "team" but everybody worked, everyone of us 4 kids had Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Weekend chores posted on the big frig. No chores, no allowance. Most of my friends were not "constantly On Call" and most played all the time. Two succeeded becoming a famous MD with the BSA "be prepared" and the other took over entire towns gated communities only by best employees and meeting all communities just 1 day a year, 2 fortunes, retired before 50. But one didn't like my folks work first, play later attitude and was told by genius parents, "no rules for your precious personality" , addicted to Meth, snuck in so many HS girls night time bedrooms, ended up in so many jails and prisons. I hated being called out all the time when watching tv or doing homework or just day dreaming as kids do, but 2 other families made kids that couldn't handle adulthood and ended up in prison. Call me lazy, not ambitious, but lucky!

    I remember going to a grocery store where the "team" stands in a circle (so everyone can see them). They get a pep talk and then everyone claps like lunatics and they go to work with a smile. It's been a while and I have to admit that at the same grocery store no one seems to give a damn now. It's just a job.

    • @scholasticacooney6830
      @scholasticacooney6830 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. Which is why I gag every time the division chief says something about "great teamwork!", when there WAS no teamwork. Oh, man, don't ge me started on the lack of teamwork in my office....the people who disappear for up to two hours (teleworking), thereby not doing their share of the shift work; the lack of communication making my job more difficult; the supervisor who gives employees a hard time about taking time off when she herself doesn't inform her underlings when she'll be out. I could go on.

    I’ve never been a fan of this woman’s content, and I’ve been watching “Somo” since inception day one with Charles Kuralt. It’s the only network show I Do watch anymore. But this piece is so good and everything she said was so correct, and so quirky and funny, I think it’s the best story she’s ever done. But did she not have a cameraman, a producer, a makeup artist and a hair stylist? Did she not work with a stage manager and a have to schedule the shooting with the segment with an associate producer?Certainly sounds like “ a team” to me. They did a job. They really did. And they did it as a collaborative TEAM.

    I work in corporate America and I don’t have any issue with the word “team.” I use it often, and saying “my team” is a lot easier than saying “myself and all of the other people I work with who have the same boss.” Think of how much time the little word saves me-though that’s nothing compared to the amount of time I save by not giving a flying eff that it might be an overused buzzword.
