I have been studying this for over 10 years. I have read many books, talked to many people but never thought of TH-cam as a legitimate tool (in this regard). I'm new to the tarot and let me tell you, this has helped me a load! I appreciate you taking the time to make these videos. I haven't touched my cards in over 20 years. Since then, I have developed a neurological condition that effects my memory. At 40, to not be able to remember your wedding, when your kids birthdays are.. Your videos have gotten the wheels turning. I had to watch these a couple times. It's best to have your cards and go along and to also take notes, in my opinion. That way I have reference I can look back on. It does take time, but I really want to learn them. :)

All I have to say is sorry for being late to the party and Oh My God. I’ve always felt empathetic, but never acted on it. About 3 weeks ago I noticed Tarot readers kept showing up in my TH-cam feed. So I started watching them I even bought a deck of cards. Soon I felt overwhelmed until I happened upon your videos. I typed every word you spoke- 13 pages. Thank you! Please could you possibly do a video on learning the Celtic cross spread, how the cards interact with each other in a spread would be so useful. Also, have you thought of making an audio CD? I would love to listen to your definitions on audio and I also think you have a very soothing voice which would be great as a meditation tool for meditating with the tarot cards. Sounds to me like you're on a pretty exciting new journey. You've busted a few chains that held you back, maybe had a bit of an experience in breaking ties that sort of bothered you, and that probably hurt you, but I think you know that you're on a good path and so those costs seem rather inconsequential. Just be careful not to let yourself become too isolated from you decisions. Sure, you did what came naturally, but it seems like you've given up on some things of value. And you probably shouldn't let them slip away entirely. You should recognize them for how they can contribute positively to you new direction and should carry them with you, at least so far as they have value for you.

Tarot can't be understood well without an understanding of Astrology. These videos should've stressed more the ties that the cards have with astrology. They stated that the Emperor card is associated with Aries, but they didn't continue to mention the other astrological signs represented by the Major Arcana cards (Hierophant - Taurus, Lovers - Gemini, Chariot - Cancer, Strength - Leo, Hermit - Virgo, Justice - Libra, Death - Scorpio, Temperance/Arrow - Sagitarius, Devil - Capricorn, Star - Aquarius, etc.). Also, it's helpful to stress how the Four Elements are represented in Tarot (Swords - Air, Wands - Fire, Cups - Water, Pentacles - Earth) - this also ties in and is understood best within the confines of Astrology. Also, the Kings are the Fixed signs (a lion can be seen on the King of Wands card, and a bull on the King of Pentacles), the Knights are the Cardinal signs, and the Mutable signs are either represented by the Page or by the Queen cards, I haven't figured that out. Great videos anyway, I'm grateful for them.
Philucipher For someone who is a beginner (and I mean seriously an infant who knows nothing about tarot) this video is good the way it is. If he had gone into the connections you are talking about it would have been way to much information to start out with, and I would have gotten confused and overwhelmed.

I have lost track of her but I will include some of your notes with hers and be able to give a meaningful and truthful reading. I just received black and white tarot cards, that encourage coloring them according to the colors in their attached book. So now I can relate on both levels. Again, thank you!

Then it hit me... the first video didn't start and second video didn't end like typical tarot tutorial videos... They didn't start with the fool... They end with the fool, which just make sense... Re the corners of the World card....I have wondered if this passage from Ezekiel Chap 1 has any relevance: "Their faces looked like this: Each of the four had the face of a human being, and on the right side each had the face of a lion, and on the left the face of an ox; each also had the face of an eagle." These images are on some of the other Rider Waite cards...I can't imagine it's coincidental.

I will print this out and use it to learn the Tarot. I just bought the exact Tarot deck (Rider-Waite). I got the pocket version, which are the size of playing cards.
Any card can be focused on to enhance or elaborate the word play. Paying little or attention to a card or placement limits what can be said. In this order the cards can be T, B+J, X, R or P, Y, H, M, D, I, O or G, L, Z, F, S, A, N, U or W, V or Q, E, F, C, and the Fool is a K. These cards can be skill, different sides, growth, status, spiritual, travel, self-control, change, adjustment, struggle, beginnings and ends, processes, the other side, the unexpected, acceptance, duality, enlightenment, results, and choice.
Hello Ben, and kudos to a job well done! I'd just like to add something - the card "the World" does not really depict "a man, an eagle.." and so forth, it is the same four symbols that we find in the card "the Wheel of Fortune" and it is a Biblical reference. The "man" is actually an angel, symbolizing the gospelist Matthew, accompanied by a lion (Mark), an ox (Luke) and an eagle (John). Of course these four may symbolize a multitude of things including the ones that you mentioned, but this is their original reference. I wish to thank you for a very clear and enlightening journey through the deck and how I wish that I would have had something like this to lean on when I started with the Tarot some eons ago... *sigh* :-) I congratulate all of you new to this art and craft, you have a wealth to dig in to right here.
There is also an astrological reference. The Eagle representing the a form of scorpio. The Ox representing Taurus. The Lion Representing Leo. and The human representing the water bearer, Aquarius. These of the fixed points of the sky he was talking about.

I thought it would make sense to buy the original and get a feel for that like you said and then I can build my own intuitive reflections of the cards with other decs. Just got to self spiritual awakening since last 5 months. And incidentally in Tarot just to know about a situation or my new person I was dealing with. Because I used to be obsessed with Zodiacs, Celestial, Cosmic & Planets in science perspective too. And these suddenly urged the inside of me to learn more about Tarot & the meanings of them. Truly that I havent found a clear & digestible source after coming across many, until I saw both Parts of this. Following to that, I just realized that most modern Tarot readers nowadays only stick to the basic & direct meaning of it. Maybe they couldnt remember to explain the bigger pictures or side meanings to the Viewers. Either the readers or the viewers (querents) or both will get confused. 😌 Didnt know that there are so many layers of beautiful clarifications to each of the cards. #JulyLeo #TaurusMoon #CapricornRising . I've been interested in Tarot for a long time, but have always found it daunting to try to learn the cards' meanings. I have several books that I've purchased over the years with great intent, only to look at the number of pages and amount of text to again be overwhelmed by the amount of information. I'm not opposed to work, but was looking for a baseline in books that wanted to give me the entire history. Your videos have provided that baseline, and the notes I've made while watching your videos will give me what I need to be able to move on to the next step, which is practicing in order to commit to memory, and then starting to read the books for further insight. I had to watch these a couple times. It's best to have your cards and go along and to also take notes, in my opinion. That way I have reference I can look back on. It does take time, but I really want to learn them. :)

Sounds to me like you're on a pretty exciting new journey. You've busted a few chains that held you back, maybe had a bit of an experience in breaking ties that sort of bothered you, and that probably hurt you, but I think you know that you're on a good path and so those costs seem rather inconsequential. Just be careful not to let yourself become too isolated from you decisions. Sure, you did what came naturally, but it seems like you've given up on some things of value. And you probably shouldn't let them slip away entirely. You should recognize them for how they can contribute positively to you new direction and should carry them with you, at least so far as they have value for you.

Thank you Ben, I really appreciate your time making this video and your generosity sharing what you have learned. There are so many ways to interpret the cards, and this has helped me immensely.
Tarot can't be understood well without an understanding of Astrology. These videos should've stressed more the ties that the cards have with astrology. They stated that the Emperor card is associated with Aries, but they didn't continue to mention the other astrological signs represented by the Major Arcana cards (Hierophant - Taurus, Lovers - Gemini, Chariot - Cancer, Strength - Leo, Hermit - Virgo, Justice - Libra, Death - Scorpio, Temperance/Arrow - Sagitarius, Devil - Capricorn, Star - Aquarius, etc.). Also, it's helpful to stress how the Four Elements are represented in Tarot (Swords - Air, Wands - Fire, Cups - Water, Pentacles - Earth) - this also ties in and is understood best within the confines of Astrology. Also, the Kings are the Fixed signs (a lion can be seen on the King of Wands card, and a bull on the King of Pentacles), the Knights are the Cardinal signs, and the Mutable signs are either represented by the Page or by the Queen cards, I haven't figured that out. Great videos anyway, I'm grateful for them.
This is possibly more of the next step in learning the cards...along with the the directions, seasons, etc.
are you sure? because Kings of cups doesn't even remotely resemble Scorpio (fixed water). I'm really not so sure about this stuff..
I disagree that Astrology is a requirement for reading tarot successfully. Your example for the King of cups is off base.
Philucipher For someone who is a beginner (and I mean seriously an infant who knows nothing about tarot) this video is good the way it is. If he had gone into the connections you are talking about it would have been way to much information to start out with, and I would have gotten confused and overwhelmed.

Ben, thank you so much for doing these videos part 1 and 2. I took classes many years ago with a great teacher and my notes from her are spot on with you! I have lost track of her but I will include some of your notes with hers and be able to give a meaningful and truthful reading. I just received black and white tarot cards, that encourage coloring them according to the colors in their attached book. So now I can relate on both levels. Again, thank you!

Re the corners of the World card....I have wondered if this passage from Ezekiel Chap 1 has any relevance: "Their faces looked like this: Each of the four had the face of a human being, and on the right side each had the face of a lion, and on the left the face of an ox; each also had the face of an eagle." These images are on some of the other Rider Waite cards...I can't imagine it's coincidental.

I will print this out and use it to learn the Tarot. I just bought the exact Tarot deck (Rider-Waite). I got the pocket version, which are the size of playing cards.
Any card can be focused on to enhance or elaborate the word play.
Paying little or attention to a card or placement limits what can be said.
In this order the cards can be T, B+J, X, R or P, Y, H, M, D, I, O or G, L, Z, F, S, A, N, U or W, V or Q, E, F, C, and the Fool is a K.
These cards can be skill, different sides, growth, status, spiritual, travel, self-control, change, adjustment, struggle, beginnings and ends, processes, the other side, the unexpected, acceptance, duality, enlightenment, results, and choice.
Hello Ben, and kudos to a job well done! I'd just like to add something - the card "the World" does not really depict "a man, an eagle.." and so forth, it is the same four symbols that we find in the card "the Wheel of Fortune" and it is a Biblical reference.
The "man" is actually an angel, symbolizing the gospelist Matthew, accompanied by a lion (Mark), an ox (Luke) and an eagle (John).
Of course these four may symbolize a multitude of things including the ones that you mentioned, but this is their original reference.
I wish to thank you for a very clear and enlightening journey through the deck and how I wish that I would have had something like this to lean on when I started with the Tarot some eons ago... *sigh* :-) I congratulate all of you new to this art and craft, you have a wealth to dig in to right here.
There is also an astrological reference.
The Eagle representing the a form of scorpio. The Ox representing Taurus. The Lion Representing Leo. and The human representing the water bearer, Aquarius. These of the fixed points of the sky he was talking about.

I just started Tarot about a month ago. I honest to God can't even remember what made me order it. When I asked my first question I realized the cards ONLY TELL THE TRUTH! Just watched both videos and I've learned more on this than I have managed to find anywhere else. I just bought the rider deck. I thought it would make sense to buy the original and get a feel for that like you said and then I can build my own intuitive reflections of the cards with other decs. Just got to self spiritual awakening since last 5 months. And incidentally in Tarot just to know about a situation or my new person I was dealing with. Because I used to be obsessed with Zodiacs, Celestial, Cosmic & Planets in science perspective too. And these suddenly urged the inside of me to learn more about Tarot & the meanings of them. Truly that I havent found a clear & digestible source after coming across many, until I saw both Parts of this. Following to that, I just realized that most modern Tarot readers nowadays only stick to the basic & direct meaning of it. Maybe they couldnt remember to explain the bigger pictures or side meanings to the Viewers. Either the readers or the viewers (querents) or both will get confused. 😌 Didnt know that there are so many layers of beautiful clarifications to each of the cards. #JulyLeo #TaurusMoon #CapricornRising . I've been interested in Tarot for a long time, but have always found it daunting to try to learn the cards' meanings. I have several books that I've purchased over the years with great intent, only to look at the number of pages and amount of text to again be overwhelmed by the amount of information. I'm not opposed to work, but was looking for a baseline in books that wanted to give me the entire history. Your videos have provided that baseline, and the notes I've made while watching your videos will give me what I need to be able to move on to the next step, which is practicing in order to commit to memory, and then starting to read the books for further insight. Thank you very much for openly posting this, and allowing all to learn/enjoy.
