The MIKUNI carb of course is a excellent choice, but I've really learned over the years, with more dyno tuning than I care to remember, that the CV is a better all around carb. YES, the MIKUNI always makes 3-5 more horsepower on the same engine on the top, the CV is a better performer all around on the street. Just my humble opinion of course. man i converted my 04 springer with a thunderheart stand alone. was good for a few years but it all shorted out when riding through Michigan in the rain. so what i did is sourced a wiring harness from an 04 non-efi, a coil and an icm and basically converted the bike as if it were from the factory carbed. also a map sensor with manifold. to easy and not that expensive. at alibi customs in el paso weve done a lot of these conversions. great video. thanks.
I junked the EFI from a 2010 Streetbob and found problems still using the rest of the ecu services - speedo , security module etc, so I took the wiring loom out and took all the unwanted wiring out. I used a turn signal module from a 2001 Carb equipped Dyna and speedo from same. The speedo wiring runs through a re-calibration box from YellowBox in Australia straight off the sender, I used a wiring diagram from a 2001 Dyna as all the colour coding was the same and that diagram shows you how to do things without the immobiliser and some other things. I still have a fuel gauge but no starter isolator (for when it's in gear/stand is down). Soldered a few joints here and there, wrapped the loom in old fashioned cloth tape and it worked first time. I use an ignition module from Altmann in Germany - the P3 (chosen as it works with all my engine mods) with the original coil . There is NO computer programming needed and it does not use the vacuum advance nonsense either. My bike has never had any problems in 7 + years and over 50k miles. One very positive thing is that the alarm/immobiliser does not drain the battery all the time 'cos it ain't there no more !
We have used a number of different ignitions, and both totally re-wired or reused the stock ecu loom, for us its about what the client wants, cost etc. Glad yours worked out for you.

U need 3 things, left pointing fuel valve, and Evo manifold,hsr42 or carb if ur choice with the air cleaner setup. Use the stock computer with the stock wiring harness, plug in only the crank sensor, the stock coil , and leave the engine temp sensor plugged in by the manifold.i struggle with thunderheart ignition systems.
