I absolutely love what you're doing. What a beautiful soul. I love that you're using reclaimed wood and have a vision of how you used are planning to use it. I look forward to seeing more from you.
I lived in a step van I converted in the '70s for 2+ years, it was orginally a reefer unit, so it already had insulated double walls! Yours is the first step van I've seen with hinging entry doors, probably seal up tighter but cruising doors slid open in the summer sure was fun! The sliding door between the cab and the home is the best thing about step vans, and I'd still take a step van over any bus or box truck.
@@Laffexplore I see that now, it's really a somewhat unique motoring experience, just ask any UPS driver in the summertime! Great job, nicely stealth too.
I've been looking for inspiration outside of the dominant #vanlife mods out there and you've nailed it. I'm a newb to conversions but gritty and a nomad at heart. This nest you've built is totally on par for what I would love to do. Very baba yaga/ howl's moving castle. Killer job❤
Thank you!! I definitely wanted it to have a magical feel, inspired by the whimsical cabins I grew up in in Montana, and ships that fly through the air from a fantasy stories! I’m glad my little home could inspire you!!! If you have any question feel free to DM me on Instagram!!!
@@Laffexplore I will definitely be reaching out. I'm a ways out from the starting line-ish. If I end up back on social media I will certainly DM you there. I can foresee Tea Time in the future ✨🪄
Now that's a beautiful build there!👍 I especially like the hidden window which keeps it stealth but with the option for natural light and airflow. Awesome!
This is so unique and fabulous! I love all the creative features and work you and your friends/family have done. I hope you show us future updates as you dial in the rest!
Thanks! And yes for sure a labor of love, I had a lot of fun but it’s also a lot of hard work and plenty of frustrating moments. If you have any question as your doing your build feel free to hit me up!! And hope it’s going well!!
Thanks! And why yes I can!! The story of onions in my van is that when I was first learning to really cook, we had a family friend who was a chef, she told me one that if you ever don’t know what to cook just start sautéing onions, because so many good things can be made from there and the smell of them will start to inspire you!! So I always have onions on hand! In fact I think for about 10 years after that almost every meal I cooked started with sautéing onions because of her advice, now I have a few other ways that I start dinner but sautéed onions are still involved in probably at least 50% of what I cook!!
I am so jealous! This has to be one of my favorite builds, and I have watched probably hundreds. I especially like the foil door and the countertop. Absolutely gorgeous. It seems like both your parents are artistic as well. FYI, the music was a little too loud to hear you talking.
Amazing, Laff!! Love the video, incredible what you've done with the place. Great that you re-purposed so many materials - and that door! Oh my goodness, what a beautiful, creative thing to do. It reminds me of a sunrise, or even a sunset. You're living in a masterpiece :)
Absolutely amazing work you got a gift for putting things together. We have rv trying to gerny other half to fix it so we go places.sendin you angels to always protect you and keep you safe and healthy God's blessings ❤❤❤
The only thing left for you to do is to get rid of the new two-by-four and putting a used one that way you can say oil wood with recycled great job my friend
Beautiful Home! Great work on your build! You have a very strong positive energy! I am looking forward to seeing you succeed in your adventures in life! 💪👍👌✌️
I want to make a apocalypse ready FedEx truck with a garden for food and leaves and it would be cool if it was amphibious with hydrofoils and a decontamination room. How long is the truck on the inside and how wide.
Hey loved the video, i'm deciding between 14 and 16ft. I'm curious if you think you would feel the difference when trying to park. I know you are doing a lot of stealth parking so your perspective would mean a lot.
I originally thought I wanted the 14ft box, but this was the one I ended up finding, and I don’t regret having that extra space, I think they were very few times when two extra feet would actually have made a difference parking, and I love how much space I have inside it definitely felt like it free things up to not have to fit as perfectly. I mean it’s a nice big canvas either way, I think you’ll probably be happy with either, if I was looking for a new truck I think I would be more focused on the condition of the engine and the mechanics then the length. I really do love how much space I have!!
Sorry for the late reply. I love that!! It gets about 11 mpg diesel. If you have anymore questions about Step Van’s or the build, please hit me up on Instagram and I’m happy to share my knowledge!!
I spend most of my time in warmer climates, I do occasionally have trips or days when I’m in cooler climates, but for the most part I don’t feel like I’ve had to worry about that too much. The van is well insulated, so I think that definitely helps, I’ve got an inch and a half poly iso insulation all the way around. Anytime I’m cooking and have some thing that’s going to create a lot of steam I make sure I turn my maxxair fan on.
I get about 11 mpg diesel. It’s definitely a loud rattly ride, I’m trying to see if there’s some things I can do to mitigate that. There’s a governor on the truck that only allows me to go 68 miles an hour, but I’m honestly most the time I wouldn’t want to go faster than that anyways in this rig.
No I wish I had weighed the truck when it was an empty shell, I suppose I could at least get an estimate from the manufacturer and see what it was now, I am curious about this!
EVERYONE should be as excited by their home as you are...beautiful!! Safe traveling...
Thanks I agree!!
I would love to have a tea party!! You have the coolest van I’ve seen!! Thank you for sharing your adventures!!
Thanks!! Hit me up on instagram and if our paths cross we should definitely do tea!!!
This is awesome! What a total work of art!! And the Stepvan ain’t half bad either! We love you and your build!
Thanks friend!! I love your home as well!!
Welcome to the step van community! Every step van is a blank canvas just waiting for its next chapter.
Thanks!! I love the form factor of the step van so many possibilities!!!
That is a really nice build! That ceiling makes it appear larger. Love the design.
Thanks for the home tour! Love it 🔥
Stop by any time!

Not the fanciest most high end rig out there but damn sure one of the coolest. Great job
Thanks!! I definitely realized what style I was good at and enjoyed and played to those strengths!
Love the unique details!
I’m glad you enjoy them, and I’m adding more all the time! My van is constantly a work in progress!
Your effort for the aesthetics of this van is amazing, it feels like home 👏👏

The box of the tuck is 8x16, I have thought about trying to set up some kind of mini garden!!

Where did you get insurance? Oh and cool van!
State Farm
WAY COOL BRO💯💯💯

Your the reason me and my girl are getting a step van. What is your fuel mileage

How do you handle condensate on the inside when using it in cooler weather?
I spend most of my time in warmer climates, I do occasionally have trips or days when I’m in cooler climates, but for the most part I don’t feel like I’ve had to worry about that too much. how is your stepvan travling on the interstates. Is it loud, what's your speed, what your mileage MPG?

Just out of curiosity is that shorts that you have on
Morelike a skirt
Yes it’s a skirt!
Great looking home. Music to loud could barely hear you talk.
Thanks for the feedback I’ll work on that for the next video
How do I turn off the music so that I can hear what you're saying?
Sorry I don’t think there is a way to do that.
Music was waaaaaay too loud.but nice van
Thanks I keep getting this note I’ll try to do better on the next one
I think he wanted to show his dress instead....
I do think I look very cute in that skirt!! I want to show it all off, it’s all part of my style and personality!
NOT OTHER PEOPLES GARBAGE, Other peoples unwanted treasures.
Yes, I definitely like to collect other people’s treasures that they no longer see the value in!!
would love to hear what this person was saying, the music was a bit distracting and overpowering. that's why I'm 'disliking' the video.
Thanks for the feedback
Nice conversion. Any idea on how much weight this added to the van?
No I wish I had weighed the truck when it was an empty shell, I suppose I could at least get an estimate from the manufacturer and see what it was now, I am curious about this!
