Omg, that’s what happened to me. I started following an online influencer dentist. Her protocol consisted of everything you mentioned, vigorous mouthwash rinses, she discouraged dental cleanings and flossing. I lost a tooth after followering her for months. That’s when I found you and subsequently went back to a real dentist and started following all your advice. Now I get nothing but glowing praises each time I go to my dental appointments.
I am SO sorry to hear this. I've received a large amount of messages similar to yours -- which is why I knew I needed to make this video :( Thank you for sharing your story, for it will help others. Wishing you continued dental health and dental care!
I know exactly who you’re talking about! I’m sorry that happened to you, I was intrigued too until i saw she was against flossing and using THREE different mouthwash - NO THANK YOU!
I dreamed about you last night dreaming that you were my dental hygienist. You have literally eased my fear of the dentist with your vdeos and now it’s something I can actually look forward to. You’re truly one of the sweetest people on TH-cam and last time I got my teeth cleaned. My dental hygienist were the sweetest people as well.
My Uncle is a Dentist in Arizona. I think he would agree with you. When a dentist I was going to when I lived in Naperville, Illinois said I needed a deep cleaning I really didn't want it done. Not that I didn't trust him, but I wanted to see if I could reverse the gingivitis myself first. I didn't think mouthwash would work because I used it before going to the dental appointment and I didn't know I had gingivitis until they told me. I reversed the gingivitis by using a different electric toothbrush and I used crest pro health. The cleaning at the dentist office did help as well. I still use the same brand electric toothbrush but stopped using crest pro health. I haven't had problems since. I think the dentist in Naperville telling me to switch to Phillips Sonicare for Oral B was the problem. When using the Phillips Sonicare Electric Toothbrush I couldn't brush good in the back.
People try use shortcuts cause anything relating to teeth is always super expensive. Which is ironic cause mouth is important in preventing other disease. Well, deep cleaning is cheaper than tooth removal or implants at least but... when money is tight people try ways to cut costs
you can get a toothbrush, tube of fluoridated toothpaste and a container of floss at the Dollar Tree. All three items will cost you less than $5 total. How much more inexpensive does it need to be?
@@_TinaWilliams Deepcleaning and other dentist related things are not same and that was the point. Deepcleaning is dome by professionalists and you cant remove certain things yourself
Thank you so much. I am 38 and have come across many of these BS videos about not cleaning etc. I was born with two less teeth in my lower jaw, I have already lost two when I was younger and two more are at risk of being lost due to not being able to sustain a crown. I wish when I was younger, TH-cam was around for videos like this. I see my dentist and hygienist every three months because it gives me so much anxiety if I go longer without seeing them. I don’t want to ruin my teeth, gums, bone tissue etc, change my facial structure because of bone loss. I will check out your guide.
I am looking to get a black triangle fixed and I was told that there is a bonding option. I would happily love to see an explanation about this as dental offices are often confused when I tell them that “I want to get my black triangle bonded”. They ask me to show them because they are confused on what I mean by this. Is there a profesional way of explaining this to a dentist?
Dentists don't teach you anything. Dental hygienists don't teach you anything. I've had teeth and gum issues my entire life and have been to so many offices, and no one ever says anything other than "Brush and floss!" Most of my root canal sites hurt, and my crowns feel out of place somehow. I am fully convinced this industry is out to get you and gets off on people like me who have constant oral issues. I floss, water floss, brush for 3 minutes, tongue scrape, and use prescription toothpaste. I get cleanings done every 3 months, and yet I still have aches and pain. I don't smoke or do drugs or eat a bunch of crap all day. I feel helpless and hopeless. Almost all of my teeth have root canals and crowns, and almost all of them hurt to some degree. The only thing that sucks more than how messed up my teeth are is how much it costs to "fix" them. It's evil. Pure predatory evil.
Oh no, if you’re experiencing pain in almost all your teeth, the response absolutely shouldn’t just be “brush and floss.” There are so many potential reasons for persistent tooth pain-clenching or grinding at night could be a factor, as well as bite misalignment or nerve-related issues. You deserve real answers and relief, so if you haven’t already, I’d definitely suggest getting a second opinion from a trusted provider. You shouldn’t have to live with constant discomfort, and I’m so sorry you’re going through this. If cost is of concern -- here is my "dental care without insurance" video -- hope this helps: th-cam.com/video/CKHrWfEH9JI/w-d-xo.html And if you're struggling to find a "good" provider -- here's another video of mine that might help: th-cam.com/video/sDe50j0MFBU/w-d-xo.html
Whitney, what are your thoughts on those powered dental scalers on Amazon that have been getting positive reviews? It doesn't have water coming out of it but still works well.
ahhh I don't know about the ones without water. but I do know from school that without water, vibration scalers can damage the tooth enamel. not recommended. here's my video that explains the negatives to regular at-home scalers, and the information applies to all at-home scalers (whether powered or regular) -- hope this helps: th-cam.com/video/mgamgm-zsRs/w-d-xo.html
regular dental offices provide deep cleanings! if you have severe periodontal disease, they may refer you to a perio office, but it's always best to see your regular dental office first. hope this helps!
You look just like Chelsea Green the WWE Superstar!!! I’ve thought this since I first saw one of your videos and lowkey was the reason I kept watching you lol (obviously besides the info!)
Dental care is so expensive for how vital it is. Instead of shaming us for not visiting the dentist when we can't, I'd love for dentists to be more accessible. ❤
Watching your Health go down the drain is much more Costly in the long run then the Expense of Visiting a Dentist twice a Year. You can pay now----or you can pay later.
I'm currently in grad school learning more about the healthcare system and hoping to find ways to make dental care more accessible for all! until then, here's my video that shows how to minimize needing work done at the dentist: th-cam.com/video/2EpjDTQ69aU/w-d-xo.html and my video with ways to get dental care without insurance: th-cam.com/video/CKHrWfEH9JI/w-d-xo.html hope these help!
Traditional flossing with floss string not floss picks is the best due to forming a C around each tooth. I use floss picks as an added means to get the plaque in between my middle teeth at the bottom. They provide the ability to scrape more precisely but again use traditional floss string for a whole clean hygienic regimen daily! 😀 🦷 🪥

Where can I get a deep cleaning? Is there a special dentist that offers that?
I think you should be able to get that done at your regular dentist's office

Are there any dental or dental hygiene schools near you? It’s an investment of time but vastly more affordable
what to do when i have a small calculus bridge under the front lower teeth (and it moves when i touch with the tongue)?
schedule an appointment at your dental office for a cleaning and they will take care of it :)
