The factory recommends 2-3mm of free play, but I prefer a little less. At full lock on either side, I still have a tad bit of wiggle room. I like to have as little play in my clutch as I can get away with. Same with the throttle. I love having responsive and direct-feeling controls.
I’ve had the bike for 2 weeks now it’s had it’s first service and seems a lot freer, she spins up faster and runs smoother. There is something fun about this bike that I am not quite sure what it is. For its size it’s very manoeuvrable and the lack of power it’s actually a more enjoyable ride not having to keep the beast tamed on the corners …. Well here is my thoughts on it at 160k. th-cam.com/video/2a__FQwruQw/w-d-xo.html
My 2021 Himalayan gets delivered this Friday. It will be my first bike and I really appreciate all of the help I can get from the how to videos you make. Thanks for helping everyone by making them.
Thank you! Love the maintenance videos and yes my clutch cable needs adjusting. Although I was reasonably confident how to do it now I’m very confident so THANK YOU! Keep up the good work, Greetings from the UK 🇬🇧. Ride safe.
Very good video friend .. !! As soon as I finished watching it, I went to my Himalayan to check that I had more than 6 mm of free play. After several attempts and several laps around the bike 🤣🤣 I was able to leave it in measure ... Greetings ...
All gopros are waterproof. that's not the issue, its the remote microphone that is the issue. Every time I plus the Microphone into the Mic Adaptor for my helmet I hope it doesn't rain lol
Another great and useful video. I just did this to my scooter a couple of weeks ago. I wish my adjuster was in such a convenient place as that. And also, what a pain that must be with all the camera equipment in the way, but thanks for dealing with it so we can get great videos.
Great video and appreciate the effort. I want to attract your attention to some other issues that are pointed out by some Himalayan users from India. (a) Trouble starting in cold weather; (b) Engine stalling at high rpm in gear no. 4 & 5 while the rider is trying to select lower gears, such 2 or 1, suddenly; (c) Water going inside fuel tank, and thereby leading to missing to fire by the engine; (d) repeated failure of cone set (sometimes within 2000 km) located at steering neck; (e) spokes getting loose after a couple of rough rides; (f) loud sound coming from clutch when a rider is launching the vehicle in 1st gear; (g) creaking sound emanates from rear suspension when the vehicle is moving on a rough patch. Have you faced any of these problems? I hope not, but here in India things are not so straight forward with Himalayan. Off course, service center is trying to help as much as they can but it seems that owning a Himalayan is equivalent to one becoming a motorcycle mechanic here in India. Frankly speaking, it is not possible for every rider to acquire a substantial technical prowess.
@@a.k.mukherjee3873 message is simple, not all bikes are made for everyone. Some people have issues with some bikes that the same bikes offer zero issues to others. Great vid, thanks heaps. Just bought my 2nd hand '20 Himalayan last week. Been having issues stalling during takeoff and consequently dropping the bike! Although I'm betting my noob-ness is playing a big part, any tips like the stuff covered in this vid help. That way I can remove all doubt that it aint me haha. Although was riding around town on a GN125 earlier in the week for a lesson and didn't have any stalling issues :/ Any advice from other himmy owners would be appreciated.
Great video !! Can the clutch lever be adjusted for shorter engagement ? My daughter has small hands and finds the reach for engagement a little too far .
Thanks. Just motivated me to check mine - 3mm clearance after 2000km travelled since 5000km service. Noted the TEC sticker on the fridge. Investigating a TEC drop-in camshaft for a claimed 20% lift in horsepower to complement the other mods. Currently none in stock. Do you have any experience with this product? Cheers from down under.
Hi Ronin. Can you please tell me the distance between the left and right pannier ? I am interested in buying the givi canyon grt709 panniers which are giving my pilion a space of exact 48cms. We tried the RE panniers at the service center and they really cramped up my wife but I couldn't measure them at the time. I am curious how much space they actually offer upon being measured.
Your videos are just superb. Lots of luv from India.
Thank you. Help spread the word!!!

I know exactly how to do this, but I watched right to the end anyway. Thats the power of Ronin!
Awesomeness
Great advice. Appreciate you sharing cheers mate 👍🇦🇺

I pick up my Euro 5 Himalayan in 2 days. I will be sure to check the clutch free play.

Good info for Himmi owners. Royal Enfield encourages you to have a working relationship with your bike and OMR shows you how. 😁
awesome, Im so glad you like them
for the gopro, they sell a waterproof box for it, you can even use it underwater

Not the stock one, BUT there are aftermarket options
Given you can find some metric Allen Keys (wrenches), this being stubbornly anti-metric America, you could use a 3mm Allen as a gauge.
1 mm is 40 thou, 3mm is 1/4" for the non metric ones amongst us
1/4" drill bit is just as easy to use if you don't have a ruler
or a nickel, which is what we Ol' Time Harley guys have used for YEARS!

You got it Sudhir, I'll Check later today and let you know. Send me an email, might be easier that way???

Thanks for this. Makes it un-intimidating. (Had to fix due to spell check removing the "un")
Follow your owners manual and all will be ok

My clutch cable broke at 10000k about 600 miles. So I will be replacing mine tomorrow
If clutch free play was all the routine maintenance the Himalayan needed I would not have sold it.
so you dont do maintenance on your motorcycles yourself?
