Thank you. I stopped watching math videos because too many of them are long winded, like they’re trying to stretch the videos out as much as possible unnecessarily.
I appreciate both the accuracy and brevity of your video. There's a math teacher doing youtube videos with similar problems but it always takes him at least 15 minutes if not more to get through the problem branching off on all kinds of irrelevant tangents. Makes me crazy.. I have to skip to the solution but usually just skip the whole thing.

First of all saying everyone makes this mistake is an insult to those of us who won't. Second, you then say don't make this mistake that 96% made. Unless I'm mentally deformed, 96% is not, AND HAS NEVER BEEN, "everyone". Last time I looked, there is still 4% of the public, you didn't allow in your revised statement. Finally, the correct answer is 24 which is represented in the choices of answers by C 4!. That's 4 factorial or 4x3x2x1 for the Middle East which IS 24 for the rest of us.
Your logic, although looks like very erudite, is among the best for sowing confusion. Arithmetic is a branch of mathematics that shines with a simple and concrete approach. An 8-year-old child would not understand anything about your notions aimed at solving this simple problem. I have 40 apples in my basket. Of these 40, I take out 30. So I have 10 apples left in my basket. Now I decide to give 5 of those 10 apples to my friend. How many do I have after giving 5 or after dividing my 10 apples into 2 equal parts? I have 5 left in my basket. Another good friend asks me kindly for 1. Of my 5 apples, I give him 1. In the end, I have 4 apples left in my basket. All children aged 7+ understand this simple problem solving. Which can be summed up as a serie of subtractions, because your problem is composed of natural integer numbers: 40 - 30 = 10 - 5 = 5 - 1 = 4. Or, 40 - 30 = 10 divided by 2 = 5 - 1 = 4. You answer is 4!. The question mark is not one of the natural integer numbers. The answer in natural integer numbers is 4, end of the show.
Take it from an engineer, don't write it loke that, write it properly using order of operations by utilizing parenthesis so it is explicit. Real life is no bs online crap.
@@jasonseidel3784 I vaguely remember learning about factorials back in high school, but that was many years ago. I guess my maths ain’t so flash anymore.
ummmm. there is no answer because there is no equals sign. therefore it is not an equation. it's simply a series of numbers and operators. it could be expressed in a shorter way...but thats like a synonym not an answer. if you asked can this statement be expressed more concisely. the answer is Yes. it can.
4! Or 4 factorial or 4 bang means starting with 4 you multiply by the next lowest number in a number line. In this case we know we are looking for an equation that will give us 24. There are a number of different ways to figure the factorial number, but in this case we know the answer is 24, so if you try 5 you would use the equation 5x4x3x2x1=120, so that is too much. So we try 4 and use the equation 4x3x2x1=24, so we know it is 4! Or 4 factorial or 4 bang.
These are all the same: poorly written equations meant to fool you. If I wrote an equation like that in college, I would have been given a F. Writing an intentionally ambiguous equation is very poor math.
30:2=15 40-15=25. 25-1=24

What is the correct way to write that equation?
Getting this wrong would mean you failed maths miserably from an early part of your schooling.
The word is subtraction not substraction
With old fashioned brackets nothing would be confusing
You don't need parentheses to do pemdas.
