This is what happens when a bunch of professionally trained musicians decide to cut loose and have some fun. One of the best performed and mixed live concerts ever. No one will be able to re-create Iva's voice and delivery, but it doesn't matter.. each is unique in their own right. Michaels performance of Man of Colours is moving!! He has put his own stamp on it, and hopefully can continue on in delivering Icehouse songs. Whats more amazing, is this live performance is as slick as the original studio recordings, some 40 years ago... not many bands or musicians can lay claim to this. I dont think people realise (especially those half cut in the audience at the live show) just how good Iva and Icehouse are. They have delivered a catalogue of timeless anthems, that any audience can appreciate, but still has a sprinkling of Australian throughout.

So rare to see a talented 'gracefully aged' songwriting genius, keeping his superb voice and surrounding himself with talented, good natured musicians, who play to perfection. Unusual also that some of the songs sound even better LIVE than on album, even after all this time. Thank you for letting us see this in HD on TH-cam. Thank you IVA. Love your work.
Agreed. Even though there are a couple of songs that Iva no longer sings live, instead Michael Paynter does them, his voice and range is still superb for a gent of his age. And, I think he smoked in his earlier years so it’s even more astounding that he still sings so exceptionally well.
Holy shit, Iva and this band are nigh perfection... To an ageless inhuman level. Paul's drumming is perhaps the best in the pocket live performance I've witnessed since Jeff Porcaro. What a show. How Icehouse never went big beyond 2 hits in the US is a loss. Australia has an immeasurable legend in Iva and Icehouse.
They might not have had hits here, but there were those of us who loved them, I was listening to them in high school in Albuquerque in the 80s ... had their albums on constant repeat.
My kids bought me a ticket to this concert for my birthday, just so I could see Icehouse live. My youngest daughter came with me (also a huge Icehouse fan who now works in radio) and it was the most wonderful night, whisking me away back to my youth. We were right up the back, but the sound quality was sensational! I sang and danced all night!. Thank you :)
I would have loved to fly from the UK...all the way way to Australia...to see and hear this . Anyone that was at this awesome show is very lucky indeed :-)

Iva's voice is still perfection, but Michael Paynter's vocals are a beautiful addition. I've watched this several times. So glad I found this. This band was so underappreciated in the US, where I'm from, but I always loved them.
In 85 Bowie was living in Sydney (circa 'Lets Dance') - he and Iva had a 'thing' going on... Bowie was at a gig, Iva spotted him in the audience, then sang with his best Bowie inflection ~ it made the news :)
Me!! Have loved Icehouse and Iva for 40 years (showing my age)!! Brilliant Aussie songwriter/composer/musician. Began his musical career playing oboe. A true Aussie icon. Keep rocking Iva !!

Just saw Ice House live April 22 at Kings Park Perth WA. The band sounds exactly like their recordings. All the band was spectacular - my daughter bought me a ticket for my birthday we sat under the moonlight and sang all night. Love you Ice House I hope you never stop touring especially Australia.
Iva is very smart - he knows he cant hit the high notes anymore due to age and wear and tear so he doesn't bother embarrassing himself, but gets a young co vocalist who can do it, and like a gentleman lets the young guy shine. Iva still keeps his great tone in the mid and lower registers. Very smart and classy, unlike David Coverdale from Whitesnake and too many others to name...

I gave them a lot of love growing up in Los Angeles in the early 80s. Definitely one of my favorite bands and tragically underrated and under appreciated.
Crazy and Electric Blue were top 10 singles in the US in '87 and Man Of Colours album charted well there as well. Icehouse live at the Ritz in New York City is on TH-cam, from 1986
No, they were very big on MTV in the mid '80s, and the whole alternative scene loved them. I know. I was there. San Francisco's alternative radio and even classic rock stations played them in the eighties.

Icehouse is still one of my favourite bands. My fav is U2 but what does it matter. Iva is in such a good shape he can go on for years. This man is realy amazing. And so is the band. Drummer Paul Wheeler is still there since the 80's, so great. I bought the Primitive Man lp back in the day (1982). Still play it. Followed them from that time. Yes also in Europe, Icehouse is famous. Hope that they once come over to Europe after the shit corona crisis. Whenever that will be...Iva and the band came back touring again in 2011 after almost a 25 years of silence. Unbelevable what an energy they put in the music. Nice to have No Promises back in the setlist. So is Touch the Fire. And Streetcafe acoustic is amazing. I agree, most of the music these days ia crap. Icehouse is keeping us alive. Greetings from Amsterdam
Wow - can't believe they played 'Fatman' - such an obscurity for most Icehouse fans - I never thought I would hear that tune live again! The years dropped away listening to this... suddenly 15 and sneaking out to see them play at Selinas... it would have been worth getting grounded for, but alas, I was ejected from the family home. Seeing Icehouse live changed the trajectory of my life - it was an interesting choice in hindsight
Hello! I absolutely agree with Ben the crew guy who badgered the band to play The Kingdom which is my Favorite Icehouse song. I don’t know why it never became a hit because It’s a great song vocally, lyrically , melodically, cerebrally & emotionally. I love it & I ❤ Icehouse!
From an era of octual musicians who not only created music that would stand out for decades, but also would play it decades later outclassing out the majority of today’s artists.

1.05:20 signature song. This will live on for hundreds of years.
This sounds fantastic! Iva is a legend!
much more than just "Hey little girl"...💪👋 I `m 57 years old, nice memories...💫 Kind regards from Switzerland.
How many bands can play and sound this great live not many
And how many of them would perform live better than on studio album... I love this performance
@@paulvaneyden2686 so true...
Not many... if any ✊🏼 🇦🇺 ⚡️
If you could not perform and hold an Audience in the pub scene you did not get gigs that is why so many Aussie bands are really tight
Golden Earring, Genesis, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Bryan Adams, Toto, Barry Gibb, Level 42, Kim Wilde, Alan Parsons project, Tears For Fears.
This is just superb. Long live Icehouse 👍
One of the best Live Concerts. Two of my favourite things. Ice House & 🍷🍷🍷 in the Vineyard. Great quality video.
Thank you for posting. 💞🌸💞
If I have to travel down under from across the globe to see this band live, I will. Iva sounds as good as ever.
