Hi everyone! I'm going to pop up here to clarify some things: currently I'm recovering from an injury and I'm not exercising at all so this is my meal plan for the time being when I'm not dancing. I hope that I'm going to be back on stage soon and I will film a part two of this video where I'll show what my food looks like when I'm fully working. And also: by no means do I recommend my style of eating to anyone. I’m not a doctor, nor a nutritionist, nor a cook. Do I do something wrong? Maybe. But I just tell you about what I eat 😊 Always thankful for your support and I hope you all have a great day!
That's great to hear. I was really worried about your eating habits, because this is definitely not enough for a stage day. Also, I wish you great recovery. Stay healthy, you do beautiful! 🥰
It's very important teach the eating correct in the dance. Because the anorexia and bulimia is the terrible situation! Thanks for all! And your lesson is very important for us. My friend!!! Emotions....
The thing is, your body still needs a decent amount of food even when you’re at rest. I’m not saying over eat, but you may be slowing down your recovery by eating like this. Your body needs fuel to heal itself.
I am a dietitian that work me with dancers. Dancers burn about 300 calories per hour of dancing, as a result most dancers tend to under eat resulting in slower metabolism. Most of my dance clients are undernourished. Ideally individuals should eat at their maintenance calories plus the calories burned. That will put most dancers anywhere from 2200-4000 calories a day. It may sound like a lot but research shows that when active dancers generally do ok with this. When they increase there calories they notice they have more energy and feel better. A good rule for protein is double your kg weight in grams would be a good goal. Some may have problems with this so I would start with half that and work your way up. So a 50kg dancer would start at 50g of protein and gradually change increase it to 100g a day. It’s important not only for your muscles but your organs. Malnutrition effects the organs more than the muscles so try to increase your protein and calories if you struggle to eat enough.
I put her food in cronometer and she seems to be getting roughly 100-120 grams of protein which is quite good. All of her other nutrients are also quite good although the calories are definitely low for her activity level.
I've seen a number of the ballet dancers what they at least say they eat in a day. Usually they insist they eat "a lot" because they have to dance but what they think is "a lot" is influenced by a lifelime of trying to get a ballet body so is actually not enough for anyone else trying to do a day of dancing. They are small because they worked at it and they are exhausted in away I do not think they would be if they were not always undereating. All the muscle they do not actively use gets weeded away resulting in the long and lean look they are after. Hormones in the too thin women are also not good, resulting in brittle bones. I just wish they'd just lay it all out there.
Hi everyone! I am a professional ballerina and food blogger/ youtuber and I wanted to give you my humble opinion: first of all, Maria obviously eats little (compared with other non dancers or dancers) and does it consciously, that could explain why she is thin (it could also be her body type!). She follows this “diet” in order to maintain the body/shape she chooses to have, according to her criterias, to be as beautiful as she chooses to be and perform the best she can. If this is her choice, you could try to understand it. She is a very well-known dancer who is apreciated for her body and lines, and for her level of performance. She is probably trying to keep it the way it is. If Maria ate more, she would probably be more “performant” (even though in dance, performance not only relies on how much you eat, but also on how well you feel about your own body, on self esteem and confidence), her body would probably change as well (she would gain muscle and some fat), and not that I would see anything wrong about it (I like dancers of all shapes), but that would have to be her own choice. She might feel great and happy, perform well and love her body the way it is. If this diet allows her to be healthy and get her regular period, feel energetic enough to perform at her level and improve, then let her eat what she likes! I hope that if this is not the case, she is aware of it and changes her diet to become healthy again. And please, don’t be as stupid as to use this video as a reference: this is only what suits HER and her body in this particular situation. Not everyone can feel fulfilled and energetic eating this food and you have to adapt you eating to your own rules. Secondly, I think she is talking about what she eats in “a day” (not everyday) during a time of long term injury, and as a ballet dancer I assure you that if you intend to maintain your exact weight (on the long term) while you don’t train as much as usual, you have to reduce your calorie intake (and that must be what she is doing in this video). Thirdly, the title of the video does not reflect the real content of it because it might have been chosen in order to improve the click through rate (considering her level of fame she might have a community manager who decides which title would generate the most clicks). And finally, you know, ballet dancers who are thin probably follow a diet, that is usual. It does not necessarily mean that they have an eating disorder. Don’t you organize your schedule? And you are not obsessive about it or have OCD right? Well Maria organizes her meals. Just as other athletes do as well, the only difference is that a ballet dancer such as Maria is thin and decides to remain so. I don’t know her personnaly, but I give her the benefit of the doubt: if she was sick, anorexic or orthorexic, she would reach for help, or ask her doctor’s advice. Be nice on the social medias, Cheers everyone 🫶🏻
It sounds like you have a knack for trying to give reasons, and trying to explain unhealthy food/ human relationships. This isn’t a “body type” and it’s in no way possible without a certain syndrome that doesn’t allow your body to maintain fat. This is malnutrition. A lot of ballerinas are malnourished because they are expected to be, and complemented if they lose weight. It’s a very sick sport, and the dynamics need to change. If you don’t take in enough calories vs calories burned, you will eventually be unhealthy and malnourished. It’s a fact, and there’s no way around it. It’s science. We need to normalize a healthy body, and be praised for THAT, not an unhealthy underweight, malnourished body. Strong healthy bodies are beautiful.
She consults her doctor and is eating well. My diet is very similar and because I don't exercise as much I am carrying a few extra pounds yet still not obese. Her diet is very balanced imho
As someone who's no ballerina and could stand to lose some weight and eat better, this paint an encouraging a picture of healthy, joyful, creative eating. The prominence of comfort foods defined by protein and fat is reassuring. It surprises me that you can eat that way while not exerting yourself. Maybe I could reduce my portion sizes and sugar intake with this many cheese-and-fancy-yogurt-related things a in my life. Whatever it would or wouldn't do for me, at least this feels maintainable. I'd love you to discus how ballerina's lose weight, if and when necessary, while keeping their bodies strong, safe, satisfied and healthy.
The best way to lose weight is to do a metabolic analysis to know how many calories you need to sustain your weight - then eat within thet calorie range and cut 500 calories a day and add In 30 minutes of additional physical work (walking briskly or exercises) And u will Lose 1 pound a week - which is what is healthy to lose.
@@ipt3000no! Not calories! So outdated. Look at glycemc index/ insulin. It is sugar and carbs that cause fat, not the old calories in/ out method. Fat and protein dont make you fat! Look up keto. Many great doctors explain it
@@Julia29853 I’m a professional in this field with a background in chemistry and nutrition as well. Everything I’m saying, here is exactly the truth.!!!
This is the best “what I eat in a day” video I’ve seen…. I’ve seen other videos by dancers and have been upset by how little they eat, especially protein… I think the diet is great and has a lot of nutrition… I’m not sure why people want her to eat more while not being active…People can only fit so much in at a time:) She did say she would eat more when active and adds snacks as needed… She started the day with two types of cheese which have fat and protein, oatmeal which also has protein, and she ate plenty of carbs and wasn’t shy about adding honey, sugar, and fruit… She also had a large piece of salmon and plenty of salad for lunch, and even added juice… She had three types of protein for dinner and added fruit. The yogurt and egg also have fat… It may be a little more plain than some people like but I don’t see how this is under nourishing oneself as long as you are eating when hungry and until satisfied… Definitely add more snacks as needed or another meal if working out all day, but if you aren’t hungry you shouldn’t be told to force more food down… That’s silly… Maybe also cultural differences as most people where I live eat a large dinner… I dislike a lot of food late in the day so it makes sense to me… I also eat less than she does but am about 7 inches shorter :) 😊
it's cultural- people in Russia and Eastern Europe don't want a pile of food late in the evening. 5 pm or so. i find a big meal after about 6 to be sickening. you can get calories other times a day. also i so agree- i'm so sick of the "force more food in!". she doesn't want to be fat, she wants to be healthy and in shape- thus protein and good foods. no garbage and no junk food. I'm sure she has it from time to time but not often
Everything looked delicious, thanks for sharing! A little tip I learnt from my Mum for taking the shell off your boiled egg - place it on the firm bench top and with a flat palm roll the egg back and forth using a little pressure to crack the shell. It will be much easier to remove - I love boiled eggs too.
Thanks Maria for sharing this, I think this is the most anticipated video by many. you are very courageous, and turning the comments section on as well. But I guess, food is a lifestyle choice, so we shouldn’t be pinpointing whether Maria should eat more or less comparing to our own lifestyle choices. She’s just sharing her own diet, if she hasn’t shared this, no one will be commenting on the food she ate and life will go on as normal for her. Furthermore, she has been taking advices for her food choices from nutritionists, colleagues etc, maybe her meals have been planned out for her by nutritionist we all never know. And she could be eating lesser/more than usual because of her schedule. Anyway, thank you Maria for sharing this, it really satisfies our curiosity!
I agree with you, every person has a different diet depending on their lifestyle. Me personally I need to have this kind of diet because I have arthritis. My diet needs to be very balanced with almost cero sugar, salt, red meat, etc. I stopped having a good diet and my bones hurt, last year I got sick with a stomach bacteria and had to get back to a very strict diet. Now I weight like 44.5 kg and the doctor said I’m totally okay because I have to be light because of my disease 😊
Hey guys! I love Maria and think she’s great but I know a lot of people watching this will be very impressionable. I also went to vaganova and was stick thin - I ate waaayyyy more than this. This is very little even if recovering. I have info about this on my channel. You’re an athlete. Maria darling you’ll heal quicker if eat a little better and probably will reduce your injury risk too ❤️ Take care
Impressionable is exactly the right word. Maria's physique is becoming the new 'standard' and any videos showing what she eats will be emulated meticulously by a percentage of her audience, some may even decide they have to eat less than her. I'm glad she clarified that this is her diet while not dancing, but share your concern. I will say though, as a former anorexic, it is a relief to see that she is not afraid of high calorie foods like cheese, sugar and oil. Hopefully young impressionable people will see that too; a ballerina can eat such things. Her comment about milk was a bit alarming, certainly suggestive of the culture of her profession. I've heard a Russian ballerina talk about how she was bullied for her size as a student and accused of drinking milk. I think they called her 'milkblood'. It's all very sad.
The level of concern trolling toward women like Maria is so gross. I was reading on a ballet forum that some people didn't think Wendy Whelan should be allowed to be Associate Artistic Director of the NYC Ballet because she was too thin. Like dancers would just catch an ED from looking at her. Imagine taking an artist like Wheland and boiling her accomplishments down to that. And it's always women tearing her down.
@@clobberelladoesntreadcomme9920 we aren’t concerned so much about Maria but rather the 13 year old girls out there who think it’s normal to have an egg for dinner. Young girls will replicate that thinking it’s normal. As someone who went to vaganova myself, I am about helping others and bringing awareness that this isn’t the only way etc. I was in school the same time as Maria, just s bit older. I adore her. There’s no hostility towards her here. You’re getting the wrong message.
@@balletwithisabella show some respect to Maria then. She is an athlete, this is her recovery meal which contains many wholesome foods and she already is telling others she has another video on her diet when she is training coming so she can provide more information. She did this cause people asked to see what she eats. She is not responsible for what people take away from this video and commenting that this will lead little girls astray is just making Maria look awful. Calling her ‘Maria darling’ like you know her well and telling her what to do just you cause you think your experience at Vaganova gives you the right to talk to your classmate like this is just odd.
As far as I can tell the topic of the video is ,’What I eat in a day as a ballet dancer.’ It’s not , ‘What a professional ballet dancer needs to eat according to a nutritionist. ‘ Don’t expect perfection people. There is no claim that this is what everyone or anyone SHOULD eat. Also: Ballet and other extreme sports that require certain looks might not always be the healthiest life style. Professional ballet in stage form is not something anyone does for their health. It takes a toll on the human body and that’s why people don’t train at that level for 50,60 years. People’s bodies can perform at this level for a number of years and then they have to reduce the intensity and hopefully they can continue with a healthy amount of exercise for the rest of their lives.
yeah, 100%. the issue at hand, i think, is that most people really don't understand how big the pressure is at the theater, and looong before that, at school. these ballet dancers don't even have a chance at a normal diet. they start worrying about their bodies at the age of 10, basically. eating disorders are so common in this world, it's a wonder how ballet schools are still legal. it's great that Maria tries to eat healthy, and quite honestly, she eats a lot compared to other ballet dancers (based on their similar videos). carbs are painfully missing from her diet but other than that she has nutrient-rich meals so good for her. she does her best with the options she has.
WISE? PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW G-D. FOOD IS FOR KEEPING US ALIVE. NOT A FOCUS. FASTING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE SHOULD BE DOING. WHICH MEANS NOT EATING. PEOPLE FOCUS ON WORLDLY THINGS WHEN WE ARE TO FOLLOW G-DS WRITINGS. EATING TO LIVE , NOT LIVING TO EAT.
@@yeshuaischrist9951oh no honey. You have a very wrong, and extremely unscientific opinion on this matter. It actually makes me worry about you. Please don’t read this like I’m trying to be mean or argumentative. That’s not who I am. I’m concerned about you, and wondering who taught you that. 🌸
@yeshuaischrist9951 both overeating and undereating are bad for one's health, so that nutritionist was indeed right. Fasting may be important but it should be done carefully. You're right, food shouldn't be an obsession, but for some people it is, that's why they either undereat or overeat. A healthy relationship with food means you do neither
I've also read that the most highly coloured foods are very/most nutritionally dense. So I try to mix up my greens - which are my favourite - with orange, red and purple foods too. E.g., cabbage salad that is 50/50 red and green cabbage; plus I try hard to have something orange every day too - carrots, yams, squash. As you say, it looks prettier and more appealing to eat when the plate is filled with food that is bright and colourful. Thanks for the tip about the airfryer. I just thought they were trendy but I can see how they could be useful!
Same - the air fryer company should sponsor her haha because I think many of us will run out to get one after this video. I love how affectionately Maria pets her favorite tool the air fryer 🥹
The truth is everyone is responsible for themselves. If others follow that is a them problem not you. No one is forcing anyone to follow this eating plan. It works for Maria. It is what Maria eats and is happy with. If people don't agree don't follow the channel or don't watch the video, scroll on. It is called make your own decisions and let others make decisions for themselves.
Great video! Thank you for sharing with us. A little tip with eggs. You can put them in the steamer with your vegetables and the shell will come off really easily.
I feel like this is a very accurate diet for someone who is a dancer when they’re not training extensively… it’s a solid balance of complex carbs, protein, veg, and fruits! I ate very similarly when I was dancing (omg like 20 years ago). It’s also extremely common for lunch to be the largest meal of the day, so I can see what a light dinner is ideal. Also that yogurt and mango will be super filling, too! Well done!
It was a joy to see you in a different and more everyday setting.🥳🥳😚Thanks for sharing and being brave enough to put this on the internet. It was noticable you'd put in some thought on how to present everything beforehand and show us in a clear way. Also the editing was clear but fun at the same time. Eating, drinking and fueling our bodies in a good way is such an important part of our day to day lives. Whenever I eat unhealthy I absolutely notice and feel a change in my overall mood and feel much more tired and exhaust more easily. I totally love to start the day with greek yoghurt, fresh fruits and granola with a sprinkle of honey. Whenever I do I feel much more energetic and ready to take on a long and busy day. Love your content and wish you and your family all the best for the upcoming holidays. Kind greetings from Holland 🇱🇺🙏
Looks very good but very small portion sizes. I guess this explains how it is possible to be this lean. Maria, do you have enough energy to dance all day long with such meals??
It's better for sustained metabolism, gentle digestion and energy release to eat smaller meals and regular nutrient dense snacks throughout the day. Larger meals cause an insulin spike and drop that would create fatigue at a time of the day when she needs to be utilising that energy.
For me, they are large portion sizes. No way could I eat that much for breakfast! For me, the bread and cheese is one meal, the cottage cheese and fruit is another. The oatmeal with fruit would be the third!
Yes this totally works for me! Larger meals slow my down and my digestion is sluggish and energy levels low. Little and often and I feel alive, fresh, happy and full of energy to workout and live life!
The comment section is just as I expect smh. This woman is a professional with many years experience eating for high performance. I think she knows what she is doing.
OMG WE EAT ALMOST THE SAME!!! Sweet and salty! The combination of sweet oatmeal with cheese on bread, and the egg and broccoli with a yogurt and fruit on a side. I also take egg and broccoli when i don't want to cook something elaborate xD Glad to see someone who enjoys all flavours. Sounds yummy!
Thank you for sharing your meals! I love the air fryer as well! You made me crave the salmon 😋. I find your videos not only informative, but calming 🙏🏼❤✌🏼
Miss Khoreva, this is a trick most don't know, but since you like eggs....try frying only put a little water in the pan with a lid. It makes a soft egg, steamed a little, and it is handy. A glass lid makes it easier to watch how done it is.
I'm not a doctor or a dietician, but as far as I can see Maria is eating a variety of foods from all the food groups. She eats complex carbs, proteins, a variety of fruits and vegetables, seeds, oil. Somebody on this thread estimated the amount daily as 1200 calories? I think she is eating a variety of foods, but little of them. She needs to be very thin for her work on the Mariinsky stage - this is in part due to the preference of its Artistic Director for a certain physique - ultra long limbed and extremely thin. Dancers in other companies also have to be thin, but maybe not that thin. It's a real problem. The stage, as also the television/video etc, makes people look heavier than they actually are, so dancers try to be thinner than the average person. Also, the heavier the person, the more stress on joints. I don't know ... I think she is doing the best she can do eat healthily at the weight she needs to be for the Mariinsky stage but it seems very little.
She can't put weight on anywhere, not only on her legs. Ballet dancers need to be a little underweight to look good on stage. But, what looks very thin is actually the body type that dancers usually have. Very small frame is what makes her look so thin. Also, she needs to be lifted while male dancers are tired. Khoreva is not short, so bones are heavy, muscles not as heavy, but heavy, fat is not heavy, just unnecessary.
I would estimate it at closer to 600-800kcals. Salmon/oatmeal/eggs and vegetables are not very calorically dense. Maybe I'm underestimating the value of the cheese but cottage cheese is also not very calorically dense.
I didnt watch the whole video, you can correct me if I’m wrong, maybe she just eats this amount on days where she rests, and on days where she moves more she eats more?
These meals amount to 1200 calories max, which is a third of what a dancer would burn in a day. Eating this little is dangerous to bone, muscle, gut and overall health leading to a shortened career and life expectancy. Edit: If we add 100 calories for a cookie with milk, that is still not enough for someone, who is doing recovery training. No offence to Maria, but dancers of all ages and professions should avoid eating like this at all costs.
This is not 1200 calories max. Together with the milk and cookie she didn't show it's somewhere between 1800 and 2000 calories (counted on cronometer) which is reasonable for a dancer who is not training.
How did you get 1,200? I got exactly 1,500 calories with what she showed on camera. I’m sure it’s quite accurate. With the addition of the milk and cookie, it would be 1,800. This is enough for someone of her weight (50 kilograms) given that she does an hour of exercise a day, which could be how much Masha exercises on break days. However for rehearsal periods, it’s not enough.
@@katja1289 she's most definitely not 50kg. I'm that weight and have significantly more fat on me and I'm shorter. I know you're considering muscle mass but that still wouldn't equate to the 50kg.
Thank you Maria for sharing what you eat in a day. Please excuse all of the unwelcome input in the comments. It’s very rude considering you are doing this voluntarily and in your own time. It’s very generous of you and people should be more respectful. What you eat is a matter for you and your doctor/coach only. Obviously you’re not going to take the unsolicited advice of random strangers on the internet! I feel compelled to apologize for those comments as it’s rather embarrassing 🙈. Still, as I say, thank you for this. It was most interesting. I enjoy hearing about all aspects of your life, not just your training and performance as such. As far as my favorite fruit? I would have to agree and say mango, although any of the stone fruits (apricots, peaches etc) when they are at their best are also just divine! ❤❤❤
I wish they would just say “ hey, we have to eat like this because we have to stay as skinny as possible or we are not allowed to perform” At least they would be honest about how fucked it is
i am very impressed with your diet. i have noticed a lot of ballet dancers do not get enough protein and just load up on carbs. but your diet is very balanced and has good proteins and healthy fats. also, cheese is a very good whole food-high protein, great enzymes, unprocessed. i am a lover of cheese as well-my favorite is raw manchego. also, cottage cheese is the best. and the little things in the pomegranate fruit are called “aryls” 😉
Мария! Спасибо, что рассказываете о себе, своей жизни. Очень интересно! Слежу за Вашими упехами на сцене, восхищаюсь, желаю новых достижений, успехов в карьере! Конечно, будьте счастливы в личной жизни, каждый день!
We do call them pomegranate seeds in North America, so you're spot on. :-) Wishing you a speedy recovery. P.S. I totally agree with your assessment of the air fryer being the best invention in recent period. I LOVE mine.
Hi Maria!, sorry to hear you're not dancing right now, I hope you'll get better soon so you can go back to the stage, because you're a really great ballerina! Thank you so much for this video, there are so many recipes I didn't know, and what I want to try... And also I think it's so important to broke all that myths about the ballerinas diet, because I really think it's a lie that you don't need to eat almost nothing when you're a ballerina, but it's only to find that balance. I want to be a ballerina, and I'm training for it, and that topic, about the food and all that things it's a topic that has me a little confused in this moment... So... Again, thank you so much, and I'll ve waiting for the other video :) Greetings fron México!
Love seeing you prepare whole, fresh food - thank you for sharing. I agree that the air fryer is a great tool - use it daily and it is easy to clean up. If most of us ate out less, used unprocessed food and realistic portions we would feel and look better.
Wow thankyou Maria!!! This is amazing, I have been messaging you for ever about this great idea, and now you have recreated it!! I am immensely thankful for your channel - and hopefully soon you can create a day in the life!! I wish you a speedy recovery, and I am sending you so much love and respect!! My inspiration 🥰👏😍🥹🥹🥹
As an ex-prepro dancer who saw a dietetician for almost a year, I can tell that her mealplan is abnormaly small and not enough. I put my hand to fire that it will easily induce malnutrition and has so many problems. I am really worried to see things like that in YT but on the other hand, I am not so surprised... The diet culture in the world of classical dance really is a thing. And this way of eating is just a reflect of eating disorder. Like orthorexia, even if dancers usually don't recognize it. Sad but so common. Don't follow her example. You need FOOD, you need CARBS, your brain needs SUGAR in order to just... function. You need more oil, more pleasant food (sorry I'm french I don't know how to say it). Basically, you need more of everything !
I am also a retired ballet dancer. I have danced professionally for 6 years and as a soloist dancer at the end of my career. I totally agree with you. Eating this every day will not get a human being through the life of a ballet dancer. The Maths behind the Kcals don't make it work.
Oh thanks a lot I was just thinking how much food I was consuming, especially when I saw the dinner I thought to myself I am taking too much calorie then, also I don’t work as a ballerina, I just moderately workout. But your approach just got me a relieve, thanks
👍This a real ballerina's meal -- all the right things. Excellent! I have done a lot of research on nutrition for many years and I can confirm that this is the best and healthiest diet for anyone who wants to live as a dancer. I would also add at least 1 l of water to drink every day and some more fruits like apples and 1 banana, sometimes a soup. 👍
I ate like that all my adult life, and Im still tiny. 5'3 100lbs and strong still. And according to tests, no osteopenia so certainly not the next stage (cant even say the word osteo......) As an athlete like Maria, you have to eat like that to stay strong, to maintain. My current age: 75 And im really glad i ate like that, with plenty of milk in my diet...like 6 - 7 qts a week. I am strong, and healthy bc of it. Back to class at age 70, which it included pointe work . Yes!! ❤
Thank you for posting this very pleasant and interesting video. My favourite fruits are strawberries and cherries. I don't often drink milk but I like to use milk rather than water when making porridge.
I eat very similar to you, and LOVE salmon with a salad. A couple of years ago I learnt that something that's very good for muscle function is potassium. Two things that contain a lot of potassium is avocado and mango - which you obviously already eat. But even if I do different kind of salads, when I eat salmon I started to do a salad with avocado, mango and some edamame beans/soy beans (for extra protein), and then I cover it all with crema di balsamico. This mix tastes SO good with the salmon! From now on I will add some sesame seeds though. So thanks for the tip!
Maria - You are absolutely adorable, as well as brave. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful diet. That protein yogurt looks so yummy! I admire you immensely-- your talent, discipline, and general attitude toward life! xoxo To the Naysayers: I don't recall Maria asking for advice, so please keep the unwelcome, unhelpful, inappropriate, and hurtful comments to yourself. Thank you. She's eating what works for HER. Thank you again, Maria.
I love your kitchen. This is the style that I’d love to have, fantastic. I liked your food choices, good meal, and honestly, everyone who is commenting about nutrition, you should fo this/that - you know what’s best for you. These days everyone is so opinionated 🙈
I am not an athlete or a dancer, just a normal person. I eat similarly when I am in a healthy zone. Of course I eat a little less because I am much older and have a normal person activity level. I am perfectly healthy with only deficiency being vitamin D. I don’t understand why people think this is too less. It’s healthy!
Most of the people who's been commenting about this being too little come from the US, and their view on what's "normal" to eat in a day is wrong in so many ways. This is a great meal plan. Introduces everything the body needs in a day. I think the people who comment that this is in some way too little to eat don't know anything about nutrition and how to eat properly.
indeed she is far from undernourished; just notice there is never any fat added: the natural fat in the cheese and the fish are enough; idem with sugar: except for a small spoon of honey no sugar at all except the natural sugar of fruits, and the fruits she eats are not very caloric. Even the oats are cooked in water. The bread is ONE slice not 2 or 3. Forget biscuits and cakes and sweets. Actually healthy, it 's the diet before the modern age.
Is not enough carbs...I remember I once saw a pro ballerina in usa eating pasta in most of her meals (is Italian ) and really surprised me but she said she needs LOOOTS of calories for what she is doing
The thumbnail and title make it seem like Ms. Khoreva thinks she is eating a lot of food, like she was trying to debunk the myth that ballerinas don't eat much. If that was the aim, it fails spectacularly. While she shows good quality and variety of food, the portions are extremely small: half a small tomato, 3 cm of cucumber in a salad, just one egg... Even the piece of salmon looked tiny in her hand. I wish her well and I hope this video doesn't trigger people who have ED tendencies. As a side note, if Ms. Khoreva is indeed not dancing much and recovering from injury then may I suggest, respectfully, changing the title of the video from "ballerina diet" to something else.
Her diets are mainly clean and high protein food with lots of vegetables. She does eat snacks throughout the day to maintain her source of energy. I dont think eating healthy=malnourtritous though.
Dear Maria, I have seen so many videos of you dancing!! You are truly an incredible ballerina. So perfect!!! It's amazing 👏 how you can make cooking 🍳 so interesting and fun!!! I am going to try to make the same foods for breakfast, lunch, and 🍽 dinner. Thank you for your 📹 videos and your English is so good!!! I hope you recover soon from your injury. Rebecca Brand 💗
Ok this diet is fine for not dancing, it’s a little small but it’s no where as bad as some of the comments. The only critic I’d have is the dinner, and lack of carbs. The special protein yoghurt is interesting. Her breakfast and lunch is actually very very good and balanced. What’s the problem?
I was sitting here reading comments about how she was under eating and i thought that was silly. But then she got to her dinner and i was like 😮 oh ok. One little egg, some broccoli and a yogurt that she kind of talked poorly about… I’m also wondering why there’s no flavor. The only seasoning she used was salt and pepper… and then she slammed protein when you need protein for muscle growth. If she’s been injured, then she probably could use more protein to heal… also milk as a guilty pleasure? Girl what?!
Hmm, so 40g of oats + 70g of cottage cheese + 1 oz of cheese + bread (+ nuts and berries and sugar) = 510 calories. milk + coffee = 80 calories. 1 steak of salmon (6 oz) + salad = 350 calories. 1 glass of milk = 160 calories. Protein yogurt + mango (it looks like) + egg + steamed broccoli = 290 calories. + oatmeal cookie for snack (est 200 calories). That's about 1500 calories. Also, she didn't slam protein. She said that she has been reading about nutrition and is trying to get more protein in. Also, I don't know where you're from, but if you are American like me, then you are used to having 3 big meals a day (I, personally, do not like having 3 large meals, but it is the norm here). I think in other countries, breakfast and lunch are much bigger than dinner. Hence why the small meal for dinner. Also, about flavoring, if you have good quality food, you only need salt and pepper. Salt is actually meant to bring out the flavor of the food. It's not like she was having chicken breast or something tasteless--the food she was eating already has distinct flavors. If you like to add herbs and spices to your food (and I like some citrus with my fish, personally) then go for it, but don't knock others for not having the same tastes as you. ❤️
@@sheeniebeanie2597 I agree with you. She eats good food that's fresh and high in nutrition. She has worked this out over years of experience and has a nutritionists guiding her. I think people are aware of the dancers starving themselves and are ready to react negatively.
@sheeniebeanie2597 I see where you’re coming from when you are able to line up all the calories in each meal. I’ve been there. It’s no where near a good amount of calories for a pro atlete.
Loved this video! You are such an inspiration, so nice to see someone who cares about their health🙂 found this very informative and motivating. Thank you so much for posting this video!!!
I will lose sm weight if I eat like this but I really like the ideas and inspiration from the meals, I will definitely try the oatmeal it looks so good
You really seem like a humble and beautiful human being. Raised to just about perfection! I’m sorry you have to respond to people ass-uming the worst of your decisions. I wouldn’t doubt that those who so commonly asked you to make this video did so because they are itching to tear it apart. Keep up the videos, I love them, and I’m fascinated by you’re determination.
I used to stay away from beef too because of all of the misinformation out there. Grass-fed beef is a powerful foo for creating energy and strength, particularly beef liver. I hope you try it.
I love this video, your beautiful voice and gentle talking style. The food looks delicious too. Please ignore some comments if they make you feel uncomfortable. In a world where talking about overweight is politically incorrect, people just turn their judgments toward whoever they could find to attack.
Orthorexia with compulsive exercise has replaced anorexia as the main disorder among dancers. It won't kill you as quickly but can still cause longterm damage. Please feed your bodies. And do not treat perfectly common food as a guilty pleasure.
To cook oatmeal, place the oatmeal (old fashioned slow cooking oatmeal) in a bowl with high sides (relative to the amount of oatmeal). Add some chopped apple, grapefruit segments, and water (experiment a bit with quantities)-stir a bit to combine. Microwave, on high, for exactly 6 minutes. Remove from the microwave, add some chopped banana, and enjoy with a good book. Very quick, very yummy, and no nasty pot to clean-enjoy : )
Maybe. But I just tell you about what I eat 😊
Always thankful for your support and I hope you all have a great day!
That's great to hear. I was really worried about your eating habits, because this is definitely not enough for a stage day. Also, I wish you great recovery. Stay healthy, you do beautiful! 🥰
wisely stated 🙂
It's very important teach the eating correct in the dance. Because the anorexia and bulimia is the terrible situation! Thanks for all! And your lesson is very important for us. My friend!!! Emotions....
Sorry to hear about your injury! I hope your recovery goes well and that you come back stronger and better than ever!
The thing is, your body still needs a decent amount of food even when you’re at rest. I’m not saying over eat, but you may be slowing down your recovery by eating like this. Your body needs fuel to heal itself.
Her idea and my idea of a thick slice of cheese are totally different 😂.
I'm absolutely in love with your kitchen, such beautiful decor and colours. Stunning.
You need it if you live in such a gloomy northern city all the time
I am a dietitian that work me with dancers.
*their
I put her food in cronometer and she seems to be getting roughly 100-120 grams of protein which is quite good.
I just wish they'd just lay it all out there.
yo just bc this is a wieiad it doesnt mean shes asking for ur advice lol u dont know her personally
how would you determine the maintenance level of calories?
Be nice on the social medias,
Cheers everyone 🫶🏻
A very mindful reminding. That's pretty much what I think. Thank you very much for the coment.
@@feiluo109 thank you ☺️
It sounds like you have a knack for trying to give reasons, and trying to explain unhealthy food/ human relationships.
She eats much more than I do for breakfast and I’m overweight!
The best way to lose weight is to do a metabolic analysis to know how many calories you need to sustain your weight - then eat within thet calorie range and cut 500 calories a day and add
In 30 minutes of additional physical work (walking briskly or exercises) And u will
Lose 1 pound a week - which is what is healthy to lose.
Your kitchen is so beautiful🤩 I love those tiles and cupboards
Me too!
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
All of your meals look delicious and nutritionally balanced!
You don't need to justify your love for a particular food, just eat it and enjoy. Of course everything in moderation. Great video!
@@vanclemmons I really don't understand why they eat so few carbs

Thank you Maria for this very interesting video 🙏🏼 Maybe it would be nice to see a video of how your diet was at Vaganova compared to how it is now? 😊
Omg yes! I would love to see a video like that!
Well done!

@NatashaEstrada you're right. I was estimating this to be barely 1000 calories as the vegetables in her meals don't count for a lot.
@@ondine217 no it is not. a cookie is around 75 kcal and a glass of milk maybe 100. So still seriously under.
]
She’s extremely thin too. But what a phenomenal dancer! I don’t know how they can dance on such little food.
A bit off topic, but I love your kitchen. It's absolutely adorable.
Her kitchen is gorgeous
It amazes me that people really think this is enough food for a elite athlete. They are so into the ballet culture that this seams normal to then.
This video makes me kind of sad. I was tempted to calculate how little calories are in these meals, but I feel like it would be too triggering.
I think this is dangerous content, indeed. Very sad.
I wish they would just say “ hey, we have to eat like this because we have to stay as skinny as possible or we are not allowed to perform”
At least they would be honest about how fucked it is
Wow, one moment ago I used to think that she eats so much. That's sad
It's always bad to speculate, but I wonder if under-eating like this couldn't be one reason for her injury, that is lasting so long. It's worrying.
i am very impressed with your diet. i have noticed a lot of ballet dancers do not get enough protein and just load up on carbs. but your diet is very balanced and has good proteins and healthy fats.
also, cheese is a very good whole food-high protein, great enzymes, unprocessed. i am a lover of cheese as well-my favorite is raw manchego.
also, cottage cheese is the best. and the little things in the pomegranate fruit are called “aryls” 😉
A Tirion Law “What I Eat in a Day” video offers a contrasting perspective in how to fuel a physically strenuous, demanding, and joyful lifestyle.
I love her TH-cam channel!
Love seeing you prepare whole, fresh food - thank you for sharing. I agree that the air fryer is a great tool - use it daily and it is easy to clean up. If most of us ate out less, used unprocessed food and realistic portions we would feel and look better.
Your English is on top!!! ❤love.
Great video! I have been looking forward to this kind of video for a long time!
And I like that you keep a perfect posture even prepping food 😂
Wow thankyou Maria!!! This is amazing, I have been messaging you for ever about this great idea, and now you have recreated it!! I am immensely thankful for your channel - and hopefully soon you can create a day in the life!! I wish you a speedy recovery, and I am sending you so much love and respect!! My inspiration 🥰👏😍🥹🥹🥹
thanks for sharing something so many will have opinions on ❤ the kitchen is so cute love the tiles
💯
Oh thanks a lot I was just thinking how much food I was consuming, especially when I saw the dinner I thought to myself I am taking too much calorie then, also I don’t work as a ballerina, I just moderately workout. But your approach just got me a relieve, thanks
,very very interesting meals, thank you for showing us.👍👍👍!
Know I know why I love ballet. You are truly a dream come true!
Yes!! ❤
You're so awesome! Thanks for the video :)
Thank you for posting this very pleasant and interesting video.
My favourite fruits are strawberries and cherries.
I don't often drink milk but I like to use milk rather than water when making porridge.
I use water because the oats sort of provide their own (plant based) milk 😊
omg it looks so few 😮How can she perform such a physical life with so few food i dont understand, maybe she has snacks between meals ?
Маша, спасибо за контент. Восхищаюсь твоим профессиональным подходом и волей.
Been dying to find out what you eat, you work out so hard!
She said this is what she eats when not dancing.
Delicious, healthy and balanced meals. Well done!
Maria - You are absolutely adorable, as well as brave. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful diet. That protein yogurt looks so yummy! I admire you immensely-- your talent, discipline, and general attitude toward life! xoxo
To the Naysayers: I don't recall Maria asking for advice, so please keep the unwelcome, unhelpful, inappropriate, and hurtful comments to yourself. Thank you. She's eating what works for HER. Thank you again, Maria.
I think your relationship with food is wonderful. Using it to help and feed your body though nutrients is great!
I love your kitchen. This is the style that I’d love to have, fantastic.
I liked your food choices, good meal, and honestly, everyone who is commenting about nutrition, you should fo this/that - you know what’s best for you.
These days everyone is so opinionated 🙈
Hi Maria, thanks for showing us that you DO eat!🙄🤣😂🤗❤️😍🥰❤️🙏🇳🇿
I am not an athlete or a dancer, just a normal person. I eat similarly when I am in a healthy zone.
Of course I eat a little less because I am much older and have a normal person activity level. I am perfectly healthy with only deficiency being vitamin D. I don’t understand why people think this is too less. It’s healthy!
for those who have fast metabolism, it may be very little..
So well said. Thank you
Her diets are mainly clean and high protein food with lots of vegetables. She does eat snacks throughout the day to maintain her source of energy. I dont think eating healthy=malnourtritous though.
Looks amazing!!! Well balanced healthy meals ❤
Your diet looks excellent!
Lovely video Maria❤
I admire your discipline and your work💗
Greetings of Argentina🇦🇷
Dear Maria,
I have seen so many videos of you dancing!!
@@sheeniebeanie2597 1500 calories is not nearly enough
@sheeniebeanie2597 I see where you’re coming from when you are able to line up all the calories in each meal. I’ve been there. It’s no where near a good amount of calories for a pro atlete.
@@Blue70712 It is when she isn’t exercising now. She is injured.
Loved this video! You are such an inspiration, so nice to see someone who cares about their health🙂 found this very informative and motivating. Thank you so much for posting this video!!!
I love pineapples. Pineapples and yogurt is a staple in my fridge/freezer. You eat impressive meals, so healthy and clean.
Well, I hope everyone washes their food beforehand, so that it’s “clean”…🙄 No food is dirty. smh
Hi Maria, I loved what I eat in a day I will definitely try the cottage cheese, oatmeal and berries and honey : )
Thanks for sharing, it was so interesting ❤ as all you share, thanks 🙏
Depends upon the person. Some people don't digest beef as well as others.
Looks amazing! Thanks for sharing
how does a salad warm you up???? It is literally cold and consists of cooling foods...
😂 that’s exactly what I thought. How could a salad be considered ‘cozy’, can’t get much colder than that?!
I love this video, your beautiful voice and gentle talking style. The food looks delicious too. Please ignore some comments if they make you feel uncomfortable. In a world where talking about overweight is politically incorrect, people just turn their judgments toward whoever they could find to attack.
Oh my, I love your kitchen
why do you only eat carbs in the morning? sorry, it's just my curiosity 😅
Orthorexia with compulsive exercise has replaced anorexia as the main disorder among dancers. It won't kill you as quickly but can still cause longterm damage. Please feed your bodies. And do not treat perfectly common food as a guilty pleasure.
Loved this video ❤
To cook oatmeal, place the oatmeal (old fashioned slow cooking oatmeal) in a bowl with high sides (relative to the amount of oatmeal). Add some chopped apple, grapefruit segments, and water (experiment a bit with quantities)-stir a bit to combine. Microwave, on high, for exactly 6 minutes. Remove from the microwave, add some chopped banana, and enjoy with a good book. Very quick, very yummy, and no nasty pot to clean-enjoy : )
Grapefruit will have all vit C destroyed?
