Shane is so real for coming on the Amusement Park Rides podcast and saying he wouldn't wait 60 minutes for any ride and doesn't care about them at all.
Honestly, same. I like theme park rides like at a 6 Flags or the fair, but the line lengths people regularly wait in at Disneyland are ridiculous! (Love their set designs, tho)
Gentlemen, please know that regardless of what the view count may suggest on some of these episodes, this podcast makes a specific group of people extremely happy, and I hope you never stop making it. As a major theme park nerd and a huge Watcher fan, this pod is music to my ears. It is perfection and all that I could ever want out of a podcast, and I will tune in to every single episode you guys make for as long as you make them. Seriously, this pod fills a hole in my podcast-viewing/listening life that is massive, and I very, VERY much appreciate the work you guys put in to make these for us. I watch various pods that cover some of my various major interests in life, but I have never had a dedicated theme park pod in my rotation at all, despite me having a huge interest and love for all things theme park related. I mean, I consider myself a huge theme park nerd in basically every way. Obviously theme park nerddom is a smaller sect of society, but those of us who love it LOVE IT, and you will always have a group of extremely loyal and supportive fans who love everything about this show. Plus, I don’t think I could choose better hosts for this topic on a podcast if I tried. I will be a proud viewer of this show as long as I may live! It truly is awesome, and you guys are very much appreciated!
ok but the que line actually USED TO have themeing, but they got rid of it a few years ago, probably because the line is never long enough anyway. they used to have a statue of a robot holding newspapers, i think he might've talked at some point but was eventually muted over the years. and then there was the phone booth where if you picked up the phone it would be all sorts of alien buisnesses like pizza planet or sonny eclipse's agent.
I've probably been on the people mover at least 150 times because I lived 25 minutes away, and I can't visit the Magic Kingdom without hopping on for at least two cycles. I'm disabled and also a theme park person, which doesn't typically mix well. Standing in lines for a long time can be painful, and I overheat/dehydrate so fast. The People Mover has always been there for me, and I think every theme park should have one attraction like it.
shane is so real for never waiting 60 minutes for a ride, as a flight of passage ride attendant myself i too, would never wait that long for that ride or any ride 😭😭
i worked at peoplemover when i was a cm so i was excited to see this week's topic was about my old stomping grounds! people would trip and fall all of the time, that's a big reason why we carried e-stop buttons on our wrists. also, a few times a week someone would jump out of the train and start running down the track and we would need to evac. which sucked because the TTA is cranky and old, and was a bitch to get started again once it stops moving. the rule was you could let people lap it as many times as they wanted as long as there wasn't a long line. also there are cameras and we would know if you were hitting your vape in the tunnel ;)
I discovered this podcast two weeks ago, and binged every episode in a day while working. Now I cannot get enough and am so excited every tuesday. So refreshing to get the funny and informed opinions of people in my age range. Hope this continues for a long time!
Won’t lie, never had chance to ride any of the rides mentioned on any of the podcast but by the enthusiasm, history and fun facts from everyone on show , I feel like I have experienced it as much as you can without having ride the ride
my dad was at the 1964 world's fair as a wee lad (he was born in 1961). he forgot this until he went on it's a small world for the "first time" when *I* was little, and he got deja vu. He also saw the original Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln and adored it. He currently studies the American presidency.
I’ve been to maybe two theme parks in my life but this is still one of my favorite podcasts even if I have no clue what y’all are talking about half the time
I'm with Shane, I don't want to wait more than 30-40 minutes for any ride. If I do, it will make me like the ride less because it won't feel like it was worth it. And I go to Disney World every year, so it's not like I hate theme parks. I'm there for the experience and waiting in line is not an experience that is fun to me. Hell, I could go to Disney World and not ride any rides, even go into any of the parks, and have a great time.
I’m similar, but I think I got this way from going to the theme parks fairly often. The more I go the less I’m willing to wait on an attraction because I know there are some bangers that have really short wait times like the people mover.
When you're going rope drop to close the people mover is a godsend for a midday nap. People mover, spaceship earth, nav'vi river journey, the perfect relaxing break in each Park. Hollywood Studios used to be the great movie ride but now I nap at Lightning McQueen.
Surely the Magic Kingdom napping place of choice should be the Carousel of Progress? It’s just so dark and soothing in there. It’s the perfect place to get out of the heat and relax for 20 minutes.
Wedway Peoplemover was one of my favorite rides as a kid in the 80s-90s. Definitely a world class attraction because everyone loves it and would have some nostalgic appreciation of it.
Fun fact about the longest wait time day: it was a marathon weekend. Presidents’ Day weekend is always the FRICKEN WORST because marathon and the three day weekend
Just here to say, I was never interested in theme parks and haven't been to any but this is one of my fav podcasts right now. I came over from just enjoying the Watcher channel content and decided to give the episodes a try and I just love it. I love the formula of the episode, it's a nice familiar thing to come back to every time. I'm now even interested in theme parks a lot more and love hearing about the next one. It's cool having the history and fun facts about each as well. So overall don't comment much but just wanted to chime in with that :) Looking forward to more episodes! (I know as an introvert I would love this ride)
That’s pretty cool to know even someone not caring about theme parks could very much enjoy it, glad you are learning and gaining an interest in this, glad you joined us all over here :)
My niche People Mover knowledge wants to share that the ride did have an extended outage period, but it didn't start until Jan 2020, and then reopening was impacted by *the world*, and didn't reopen until 2021. While I obviously love this ride, 65 minutes is insane.
As somebody who used to work main gate, it was under 3 gets in free but parents lie all the time and we couldn’t exactly ask for proof. Best tactic is just as the kid directly how old they are. They’re always thrilled to say they’re actually four and we smile and point them towards the ticket booth
booooo just let the kiddos in for free ESPECIALLY if u cant tell. disney does not need the kids' sales they'll probably make all that money back on an overpriced lollipop anyway
The people mover is only a legend to me as a Disneyland native…I used to think it would’ve been a lame ride but I can totally see myself just kicking back and enjoying it after a full day
I was at Disney in September of this year and waited in line for the People Mover for 30+ minutes because both the conveyor to the platform wasn't working. Once we got on, the car was stopping every few feet. We got through the first tunnel when they decided to shut down the ride. We got walked off of the ride, got to see the cast members back office, then got a free fast pass. It was really fun to listen to the episode after recently having this experience! 😂
Ryan not understanding that we’re just little gremlins that will watch literally anything with his face on it despite our knowledge level of the topic is hilarious. Man doesn’t understand that he has a low key personality cult following
As someone who can’t ride a lot of roller coasters due to health/physical limitations, I love listening the opinions, history, fun facts and more about the rides that I’m p much prohibited from enjoying in the first place. I know that videos like defunctland or this pod is nowhere near of having the actual experience, but hearing all the excitement and love of people in my age group have for the rides more than certainly makes up for it
If my memory serves me, the 65 minute wait time in 2019 'might' have been contributed to issues WDW operations was having at the time with keeping Peoplemover operational. There were rumors that WDW was having issues with sourcing replacement parts causing the ride to be down for weeks.
100% there is a bounce in your step as you leave, literally the downward outgoing walkway has the perfect springiness to it that is perfect for hopping as you leave.
Them repeatedly joking about how uninteresting the topic is: Me, whose already watched several other 40+ minute videos on the people mover specifically: 👁️👄👁️
Back in the 80s, Disney had $20 Florida resident tickets, and I was at the Florida parks a LOT. When we went to Magic Kingdom, we'd always go on the Peoplemover after lunch while we were still kind of food groggy. Getting to see inside Space Mountain when one of the ride cars goes by is really cool because you can't really appreciate how they look when you are inside them.
This podcast has made me realize that I am, in fact, a theme park head (aka fellow sicko). I just never really knew because I'd never met others who were as enthralled as I was. Love to see that there's a small but mighty community of us and I truly look forward to these episodes every week!!
One element that wasn’t talked about is it’s a great opportunity for people that need to take a break for your body and mind. A moment of sitting and relaxing along with a calm mental break from the chaos.
i get so excited every week when the episodes come out!!! the peoplemover is such a great ride and i would love if you guys covered the 20,000 leagues under the sea ride that used to be at wdw! also u guys should make merch lmao
Peoplemover was my favorite ride in WDW for over a decade. They changed the audio last year and it slipped a bit in my rankings. Still a top 3 ride though!
People mover in Disney World is GOATED! It is the Best ride, damn near zero wait time, ride unlimited, and it’s like a 10 min chill ride around. I will always hop on the people mover.
Idk if this is insulting or even makes sense but Shane looks like he was a train kid and Ryan looks like he was a hot wheels kid…Shane choosing people mover just solidified that in my brain
The Peoplemover has entered this whole new era where its become fairly popular. As much as I miss the days of yore when it was a straight walk on, I'm glad its finally been getting the respect it deserves
As soon as I heard about this podcast, I have been desperately hoping that the People Mover and Living With The Land (two of the most magical rides ever to exist) would be covered!!!
Last time I was at EPCOT they let my sister and me ride Spaceship Earth 4 times without getting off. We chose a different language for the narration each time, just for kicks. It was a callback to when we were kids and we'd run back around to re-ride If You Had Wings as soon as we got off.
Oh fuck yes. Ryan you get me.... There is a childlike wonder that can be discovered at theme parks regardless of the issues & qualms associated with them. Both can be true simultaneously. There are some amazingly creative & talented people putting the Disney parks together. Just a collaborative marvel. I love Disney World & I love this ride! Thanks for showcasing it! My family & I have so much nostalgia with it, it's so nice to ride it when lines get long everywhere else
Past Tomorrowland Cast Member here 👋🏻 The Peoplemover and Bozz Lightyear were my indicators on how busy it was gonna be that day. Anything over 30 monutes, we knew we were fucked that day.
I really miss the Disneyland People Mover! I loved that it went inside the other rides, giving you a glimpse are what was in store for the rest of your planned day or a different perspective in a familiar ride. I loved the People Mover.
LOL I laughed so hard when they brought up the appropriate age to bring a kid to WDW. My husband and I brought our daughter when she was 6 months old as her half birthday present and then just last week for her 1 year Birthday and Christmas present. She loved the lights, music, and could recognize characters that she loved (Ariel, Tigger). True, she may not remember, but in the moment she was excited by everything. Plus, it's free for her and we live only 30 minutes away from WDW lol
I'm a WDW AP and just wanted to add to the wait time conversation that PeopleMover has been killing it this year. Wait time has been around/over 25 mins most days that I visited this year, and I have the Pixie Pass meaning I have blockout dates every weekend and holiday... so I should be only seeing it at the quietest times lol
I honestly love The People Mover. I could probably ride it for hours and legitimately enjoy every second. It’s so fun to just sit there and talk with your friends while you move around Lazy River style.
Not gonna lie I was soooo excited to see footage of you guys on the whole ride and not just clips. Still loved the vid but wish there was more guy time on the ride
Was so looking forward to this. I knew there'd be sniping and was not disappointed. But also listening to you guys talk about The People Mover brought back a lot of good memories.
The last time I was at Magic Kingdom, I waited 16-20 minutes. I was there during spring break and the park was packed. But it was nice to sit down for that long ride!!
When my mom lived in Orlando, we were lucky enough to have annual passes to Disneyworld. I would go ever summer break and Christmas break since I was like 12, and the PeopleMover is one I would go on all the time because it was so chill 😂 I’ve been on it hundreds of times.
Honestly I did not have high hopes when I went on people mover for the first time, but it’s a pretty cool concept- I felt it was more about looking at the park from above, relaxing, and the breeze. I felt similarly about Casey Jr, I thought that was just a train, then it occurred to me that it gives you a different experience of the canal and the dioramas. I love how the imagineers thought of every detail.
i fell in love with this ride as a small kid. i have some of the best memories, including the time my mom freaked out cause she thought we were on space mountain or the first time i saw the model city.
I think the reason Shane chose this ride is because its the closest you can get to a lazy river without getting wet lol
You might be onto something here
Omg you're so right
I’m the person that watches these without knowing most of the rollercoasters. I just like how enthusiastic you guys are about talking about them.
Me too! I live too far away from any park to know anything about them
Same!
Yeah same here, I have never been to any of the attractions they’ve talked about so far
Hate Disney tbh but love this podcasts’ passion
Same.
I love seeing Byron try to keep the show on track while Shane distracts Ryan and Ryan just tries to keep his shit together 😂

I'm commenting to say I absolutely agree!
This podcast is my entire life. This is my happy place
@ not quite my entire life, but definitely my happy place too lol
Ryan and Shane seem like an old, constantly bickering married couple and Byron is their exhausted, long suffering adult son
😂😂😂😂
Saw that the topic was the people mover then saw that Shane was the guest and it all suddenly made sense
Literally my exact thought process
The only other person I would expect with this ride besides Offhand Disney
exactly what i thought too lmao
also, on the topic of Disney Dan marathoning this ride... he really deserves to be a future guest. that would be hilarious and entertaining!
I bet hes coming down the pike
I bet we'll be able to hear him coming! @@bustedkeaton
ok but the que line actually USED TO have themeing, but they got rid of it a few years ago, probably because the line is never long enough anyway.

"I Want to Address this Right Up Front"...Byron takes a breath, leans back and smirks. He knows he's going to have to be the adult in the room.
Shane being a trumpet player checks out lol
Right?? Do you find a lot of band teachers being trumpet players, too? I only have 2 examples, but haven't known too many band teachers.
I've probably been on the people mover at least 150 times because I lived 25 minutes away, and I can't visit the Magic Kingdom without hopping on for at least two cycles. Awwn, yay!!
Shane is actually stress testing the logical cohesiveness of the world class attraction test with the peoplemover
Honestly, this series and Puppet History are my favourite things Watcher puts out. I just adore hearing people geek out about the things they love.
The old married couple energy is off the charts 🧡👍🏻
shane is so real for never waiting 60 minutes for a ride, as a flight of passage ride attendant myself i too, would never wait that long for that ride or any ride 😭😭
ryan, a grown man, giggling like a little boy whenever he says "premature detraculation" gets me every time 🤣

less than a minute in and ryan and shane are already fighting
FUCK YES. I don't care what conclusion yall come to- the people mover is world-class without a doubt.
I discovered this podcast two weeks ago, and binged every episode in a day while working. Now I cannot get enough and am so excited every tuesday. So refreshing to get the funny and informed opinions of people in my age range. Hope this continues for a long time!
Absolutely loving the pod! And I think Shane should be a recurring guest because you can’t beat the vibe with the three of you together.
Won’t lie, never had chance to ride any of the rides mentioned on any of the podcast but by the enthusiasm, history and fun facts from everyone on show , I feel like I have experienced it as much as you can without having ride the ride
The people mover is such a great spot for a bit of relaxing and people-watching. Also watching fireworks from it is pretty dang fun.
my dad was at the 1964 world's fair as a wee lad (he was born in 1961). he forgot this until he went on it's a small world for the "first time" when *I* was little, and he got deja vu. Completely agree that I wish it went through the whole park. The railroad goes through the "outside" and its just not the same
When you're going rope drop to close the people mover is a godsend for a midday nap. People mover, spaceship earth, nav'vi river journey, the perfect relaxing break in each Park. Hollywood Studios used to be the great movie ride but now I nap at Lightning McQueen.

@HerHollyness I can't. I love it too much to want to nap. It is a must-watch for me every trip
Thumbnail is terrifying. thank you for another podcast🙏🏻
Clearly “What ride would you live in?” is a Top 5 Beatdown topic!
(or something to that affect)
Wedway Peoplemover was one of my favorite rides as a kid in the 80s-90s. Definitely a world class attraction because everyone loves it and would have some nostalgic appreciation of it.
Fun fact about the longest wait time day: it was a marathon weekend. Presidents’ Day weekend is always the FRICKEN WORST because marathon and the three day weekend

The thumbnail for this one 😂
I appreciate everyone giving the people mover some respect here. As a Disneyland gal I didn’t go on it till my 20s and found it insanely charming
They’re always thrilled to say they’re actually four and we smile and point them towards the ticket booth
snitches
booooo just let the kiddos in for free ESPECIALLY if u cant tell. disney does not need the kids' sales they'll probably make all that money back on an overpriced lollipop anyway
I enjoy the vibe between Byron and Shane. I would like to see more of the three of you together!
This is probably the explanation on the ride waits. Just collected data during ride shutdowns.
I know they're Cali boys now but it'd be really cool to see this series expand to other parks like six flags and cedar fair (if they've ever been)
Ryan not understanding that we’re just little gremlins that will watch literally anything with his face on it despite our knowledge level of the topic is hilarious. Man doesn’t understand that he has a low key personality cult following

If my memory serves me, the 65 minute wait time in 2019 'might' have been contributed to issues WDW operations was having at the time with keeping Peoplemover operational. There were rumors that WDW was having issues with sourcing replacement parts causing the ride to be down for weeks.
Did y’all have to keep offhand Disney from breaking into the studio?
Omg. Thank you Shane. As a fellow midwestern-er. Yes. Disney World in Florida is like a 5 star vacation for us midwesterners 🤣🤣
I just realized -is this the theme park version of a lazy river? No wonder Shane likes it.
100% there is a bounce in your step as you leave, literally the downward outgoing walkway has the perfect springiness to it that is perfect for hopping as you leave.
Y’all have to talk about Hagrids magical motorbike adventure at USO!
Them repeatedly joking about how uninteresting the topic is:

Shane was in heaven at the end. 😂❤ World class for sure. 💯 Its on record. 😂
i get so excited every week when the episodes come out!!! the peoplemover is such a great ride and i would love if you guys covered the 20,000 leagues under the sea ride that used to be at wdw!
also u guys should make merch lmao
Okay who is responsible for that cursed thumbnail?
Peoplemover was my favorite ride in WDW for over a decade. They changed the audio last year and it slipped a bit in my rankings. Still a top 3 ride though!
It's Shane, ya boy!
Finally, the GOAT podcast talking about the GOAT attraction at WDW
tuesday is my new favorite day of the week!!
People mover in Disney World is GOATED! It is the Best ride, damn near zero wait time, ride unlimited, and it’s like a 10 min chill ride around. I will always hop on the people mover.
Shane being a trumpet player makes the most sense in the world.
Idk if this is insulting or even makes sense but Shane looks like he was a train kid and Ryan looks like he was a hot wheels kid…Shane choosing people mover just solidified that in my brain
Elias Disney was a construction worker for the Chicago World's Fair.
only a few minutes in but the people mover is a world class attraction next question
i’ve been to disney world around this time of year before and i can definitely say that the 40 minute wait time is accurate lmao
The Peoplemover has entered this whole new era where its become fairly popular. As much as I miss the days of yore when it was a straight walk on, I'm glad its finally been getting the respect it deserves
I was at the World's Fair in 1965 but I was only 9 years old and that's almost 60 years ago so I don't remember a lot.
I agree Ryan. I would love to go to one of the World Fairs. They had to be amazing to witness in person.
As soon as I heard about this podcast, I have been desperately hoping that the People Mover and Living With The Land (two of the most magical rides ever to exist) would be covered!!!

Also tbh shoutout to Shane for picking the topic. Sending love from Chicago & the Bean lmao
This is another amazing podcast! So excited to watch!
Every time I’m in Magic Kingdom I always go on People Mover. It’s just something you gotta do.
Past Tomorrowland Cast Member here 👋🏻
The Peoplemover and Bozz Lightyear were my indicators on how busy it was gonna be that day.
Anything over 30 monutes, we knew we were fucked that day.

I'm a WDW AP and just wanted to add to the wait time conversation that PeopleMover has been killing it this year. Absolutely love your system as the backbone of this podcast and thoroughly enjoyed this episode featuring 'Rides: The Ride'.
Maybe because I’m Bergara biased. But I really could listen to him and Byron do a whole documentary about any theme park.
😂😂😂😂 OF COURSE IT WOULD BE SHANE WANTING TO DISCUSS THE PEOPLEMOVER. I'm so excited to watch this!!!
I honestly love The People Mover. I could probably ride it for hours and legitimately enjoy every second. It’s so fun to just sit there and talk with your friends while you move around Lazy River style.
I had an empty podcast slot on Tuesdays and this has perfectly filled that slot. As a theme park fan and a Watcher fan, this pod is incredible.

My childhood IS THIS RIDE! Thank you for doing these!
That’s a world class thumbnail.
The last time I was at Magic Kingdom, I waited 16-20 minutes. I was there during spring break and the park was packed. But it was nice to sit down for that long ride!!
The PeopleMover is a good take-a-break ride after Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.
“I told you, wait times are exciting!” 😂😂😂 I love finding my people in such hilarious avenues. ❤
I live in South Africa, we don't really have amusement parks here, and I love this podcast!
It was our favorite to take a rest in. And if it wasn’t too busy, and we asked nicely, the cast member would let us ride again. Miss it.🥰
When my mom lived in Orlando, we were lucky enough to have annual passes to Disneyworld.
I will always champion getting there at rope drop, it always lets you finish everything you want to do and have extra time too
i fell in love with this ride as a small kid. i have some of the best memories, including the time my mom freaked out cause she thought we were on space mountain or the first time i saw the model city.
Oh this is gonna be a divisive one for sure
PeopleMover is unequivocally a World Class ride. Would never get off and just enjoy the day if I could.
