I'm pretty dang sure I'd like this music no matter what they look like, it's such a cool blend of electro, glitch and traditional instruments, it really is high quality music
Aedan Argonar Me too man, music lovers unite! lol. Check out Phox and Little Tybee if u like these guys, I also recommend Toe, TTNG, Tangled Hair, Vaetxh and Pretty Lights
Sidney Smith I will never listen to "Pretty Lights" for the simple fact that they took a massive dump on Pink Floyds Time. One of the best pieces of music ever created in history. Their version was total shit and just screams "millennial diarrhea"
I'm infatuated. I came across "Don't Move" a couple years ago, but I finally heard all 3 albums and purchased immediately. I really don't have an adequate word to profess how fuckin much I respect and admire their song-writing. They make it seem so simplistic and organic. I'm so envious, jealous, proud, impressed, in love. This is true musician talent, they are no mistake. I'm giddy like a fuckin school girl with boy. How can my life ever go back to the way they were before they musically-mind-fuct me. It's blissfully appealing music, those beats are inhuman, the low end is driving my sub so well it's vibrating around little by little. I want to know what DAW he makes his beats on, or what Plug-In package he utilizes to get that bass.
That first track is seriously one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. No joke. I’ve come back to this vid frequently over the years, it’ll always blow me away without fail. Sacred song lol
I've been listening to this band for a while. They still amaze me. If only I could see them live... one of the sucky parts of moving back to the middle of nowhere. But hey... "look, squirrel!"
Finding Phantogram in 2021 is a very Good thing for me too

I had the honor of seeing Phantogram at Bonnaroo back in 2012 I believe it was. Let me just say it's still one of my absolute favorite shows of all time, and I've probably seen hundreds all together. We were right near the front of a huge crowd radiating good vibes and the bass made it feel like my heart was in my throat it was so intense and euphoric. Pure magic.
I really hope they don't stop making music they are highly talented as far as I can tell they bring out colors in the music spectrum I've never seen before, very impressive her voice needs to be on a Flying Lotus track
It’s a little less than a year since I stopped the episode of The Magicians and rewound to the start of the song..... it was Phantogram and I love Phantogram. That night is the first time I ever heard anything from Phantogram. I TH-camd it and since then, I’ve listened to Phantogram every single day and all night long pretty much and have bought almost all the music from Phantogram on iTunes and I love it and also I love the way the audience was consistently thanked during this performance! It was one day after my bday/anniversary of my Mother’s passing(Renal Cancer) I had just got home from Alaska and was fucking up all around....cost me a couple of years
i couldnt help it. kinda had this feel in my heart that bounced tears off my eyes. nver going home. aah. guys n girl , i was jailed long time ago. WHen i was in lockup ,the only song that looped in my mind was runnig away from the cops...much love from klang malaysia.....that n a song from arthur beatrice..
A little "New Order" a little "Karin Dreijer Andersson" a little awesome. Finally, something new out the U.S. pop music scene that is making music good again.
Pop music typically has a verse, chorus, verse, chorus structure. Themes are often about male / female relationships or love. Songs are made to be around 3 minutes in order to be played on the radio.
0:00 - Intro 4:28 - 16 Years 11:05 - Black Out Days 15:20 - Turning Into Stone 20:45 - Never Going Home 25:50 - Don't Move 30:53 - The Day you Died 35: 35 - When I'm Small 40:29 - Celebration Nothing
This is some serious live performance and song making skills. Sounds so good and has that amped up concert performance thing going here. This close or as good as my favorite Radiohead live performances.
I've had their cd eyelid movies over a year. Seeing them live I can appreciate their music on another level and I still think "When I'm Small" is their best. I wish they'd come to Asheville.
Since Phantogram added a long overdue drummer and bassist, I have become even more of a fan. They are easily the best new band to surface in the last few years and if you've yet to see them live, it's sublime.. Yes, Sarah is gorgeous but she's far from why they've become successful. Their music is beyond innovative, smart and full of soul. I'll always defend this brilliant band from the ankle-biting trolls.
Just saw this group at Air + style with Kendrick Lamar and diplo with a Groupon that cost me $31. I bet that will be the cheapest I'll ever pay to see Phantogram again. Definitely the coolest show of the day.
A lot of weird hate on this lady I feel like for no reason...I discovered phantogram from a friend a few months ago and never saw either one of them until this video. Genuinely like the music!!... I find it even more bizarre that there is commentary on her looks as, to me, she looks normal in every sense of the word.
+Margaret Mulligan Well. people on the Internet are generally assholes. I wish everyone would just grow up. To even debate about this here seems frustrating.
I love how she records and then loops herself into her own jam at the beginning of almost every song. She doesn't need a studio track, she'll loop that shit in herself. Lol
The mix must have been set up for The Day You Died (30:48). The balance sounds great in that track, while the rest of the set suffers from quiet vocals. Or maybe the engineer was out for a 30 minute smoke break.
That is the way it should be. Bands only make their money playing live these days. Streaming has ruined album sales. Only GOOD live bands will make it to the future
Ok 3 days later, i've listened to the record mutiple times, and I really like this live performance *better* than the album versions of these songs...awesome to know these guys sound awesome live
kexp is pretty much the best platform to listen to bands. u all rock, blow my mind and i can only thank you for keeping me inspired and for that matter alive
I'm absolute love with this band. The vocals, the song writing and last but not least the production!!! I can't wait till they come back to Toronto!! Girls voice will touch your heart!!!
It's actually called "Intro". If you order the Phantogram EP vinyl from their website, you'll get a code to download the songs which includes Intro, as well as instrumental versions of Black Out Days and Celebrating Nothing

+jay wu Thank yu Mr. Wu
+jay wu i love it! :)
thanks
crazy this is from 3 years ago. bc the first song is the first track Funeral Pyre from their new album Three. I'm glad they added it to the album!
I would go crazy at one of their concerts. I love this kind of music. So beautiful and unique
Yeah!
I saw them live... they are amazing.
***** You lucky duckling. Hopefully I'll be able to see them.
saw them live at outside at Pier 97 in NYC in the pouring rain. It was one of the best experiences Ive ever had.
Glenn Jordi man, that sounds like THE perfect way to experience this band
4 years since my last comment. And I never stopped listening to them.
❤
Been With'Em Since • "The√EarLy•Days" • She Was Describing At The Beginning ! ❤
I'm pretty dang sure I'd like this music no matter what they look like, it's such a cool blend of electro, glitch and traditional instruments, it really is high quality music
The majority of the time I have no idea how they look like. I just fall for their sound.
Aedan Argonar Me too man, music lovers unite! lol. Check out Phox and Little Tybee if u like these guys, I also recommend Toe, TTNG, Tangled Hair, Vaetxh and Pretty Lights
Sidney Smith Pretty Lights is the shit man. Also Portishead and London Grammar. Glad to see there are people who still listen to music.
Sidney Smith
I will never listen to "Pretty Lights" for the simple fact that they took a massive dump on Pink Floyds Time. One of the best pieces of music ever created in history. Their version was total shit and just screams "millennial diarrhea"
.
I'D RATHER DIE, I'D RATHER DIE THAN TO BE WITH YOUUU♪Love that part♥
yes!!!! It hits every time, no matter how often you hear the song.
Ultimate rejection song lol
And once upon a time, that "Intro" turned to be "Funeral Pyre" in the future♥️
Funeral pure my favorite))))
Thank you!!!
"Hi" from the future. THANK YOU!!! I didn't know about that song!
I discovered Phantogram and this song 'Funeral Pyre' a couple of days ago. And I was thinking the same right now... 'This isn't 'Intro' '...
It seems there's... A bit of a sad story behind that...
Oh the good ol' days that will never come back....
I'm infatuated. I came across "Don't Move" a couple years ago, but I finally heard all 3 albums and purchased immediately. I really don't have an adequate word to profess how fuckin much I respect and admire their song-writing. They make it seem so simplistic and organic. +Mike Baker Bake House Productions well said! there aren't many feelings in this world that compare to musical cherry popping. cheers.
+Mike Baker Bake House Productions He uses Logic Pro
It’s good to know that other people are not taking Phantogram for granted
This is the only professionally recorded concert I've seen of them, thx KEXP
33:50 GOOSEBUMPS after 10 years. Luv ya Phantogram 🙌💎❤
I don't usually crush on performers but god damn Sarah is a goddess.
agree 100%
YESYESYESYESYES. major-crush-ville
Mamasita.
Shawn White is lucky!
Me too
That first track is seriously one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. No joke. I’ve come back to this vid frequently over the years, it’ll always blow me away without fail. Sacred song lol
Playing the bass synth section while singing is difficult, yet she managed to perform it well.
IKR, shout out to Geddy Lee, who sings, plays extremely complicated bass guitar lines, and plays Taurus pedals with his feet, all at the same time
Love that you guys are still killing it in 2025! LFG!
Always come back to this performance.
Same. Just listened to the whole thing on the drive home. The arrangement in this set is great, each song blends into the next perfectly.
It feels like the first time every single time
Truly remarkable 💔
Even though Funeral Pyre is now available elsewhere, I still find myself coming back to this performance. So good
The Intro was just... Words can't even explain. Wow.
Loved every second of this! The synchronation of the lights makes their live gigs epic. Can't wait til they're back in Philly!
Cant believe they were in town and I didn't even know.. Bummer lol
I've been listening to this band for a while. They still amaze me. If only I could see them live... one of the sucky parts of moving back to the middle of nowhere. But hey... "look, squirrel!"
couple more months
OH MY GOD. Life made.
I cant believe I find you here after all this time, I didnt knew you are fan of this incredible band and I'm a huge fan of both, them and you!!!
I love this band
When singing Sarah has the power and confidence of a fierce lioness. When speaking she has the charm and coyness of a kitten :)
Franz Christopher Saw them live and did a double take when she started talking normally.
Franz Garcia the accuracy lol
Best band I have heard in years!
The intro gets me everytime ❤️
Josh and Sarah's sound is incredible. Their Voices CD is a must-have.
I am an old Duran Duran fan, I also love this band because here I also hear the complex, layered sounds I adore in that British pop band.
LOVE this version of 16 Years.
Finding Phantogram in 2020 is a very good thing for my life right now.
Finding Phantogram in 2021 is a very Good thing for me too

Great intro and awesome performance. I must've watched this at least a dozen times.
I have been to a lot of concerts and this one HANDS DOWN was one of the best concerts I have ever been to!
Saw these guys play on the UO campus just before they got really popular. They were amazing!! Its awesome they are so well known now
Thank Yous All so much!!!! This is so fresh!!❤
44 minutes in and I really dig Pantogram. Thanks KEXP!
Halfway between the Cocteau Twins and Curve, with a bit of Lush thrown in. I really like this.
Pure magic.
Eyelid Movies is one of the best albums of the last several years. And Sarah still looks and sounds amazing. Thanks KEXP and Phantogram.
I really hope they don't stop making music they are highly talented as far as I can tell they bring out colors in the music spectrum I've never seen before, very impressive her voice needs to be on a Flying Lotus track
Singlehandedly one of the best bands out right now, can't wait for Voices to be out
I would be so out of breath jumping around on stage and singing When I'm Small.. she did a really good job.
never knew about this group before. so glad I clicked on this, it's amazing.
4:22 Searing, scorching guitar; perfect with such a Voice!

Woow amo Phatogram una de las mejores bandas en todo el mundo!!, los amo!!
Igual yo es una banda genial
Me encanto tu opinion si es lo mejor.
La mejor bandaaa
Been going back to this one for years and it just keeps getting better ❤
i couldnt help it. kinda had this feel in my heart that bounced tears off my eyes. nver going home. aah.
guys n girl , i was jailed long time ago. WHen i was in lockup ,the only song that looped in my mind was runnig away from the cops...much love from klang malaysia.....that n a song from arthur beatrice..
That song was awesome to hear your voice, number 2 . Sound man can stay
A little "New Order" a little "Karin Dreijer Andersson" a little awesome. Finally, something new out the U.S. pop music scene that is making music good again.
This isn't Pop.
Brett Arnold
I'm guessing you have no idea what constitutes as pop other than Backstreet Boys or Britney Spears.
Pop music typically has a verse, chorus, verse, chorus structure. Themes are often about male / female relationships or love. Songs are made to be around 3 minutes in order to be played on the radio.
This concert RULES. I love this band and they sound AMAZING live.
0:00 - Intro
4:28 - 16 Years
11:05 - Black Out Days
15:20 - Turning Into Stone
20:45 - Never Going Home
25:50 - Don't Move
30:53 - The Day you Died

I think it's one of the best performances from the band, i love this...
This is my favorite band!!!
I'd wreck my car if I listened to this while driving.
she's amazing, VERY unique voice.
This is some serious live performance and song making skills. Sounds so good and has that amped up concert performance thing going here. This close or as good as my favorite Radiohead live performances.
What a great band
Phenomenal Band!!!
One of my all time favorite performances. Love the sound stage they create.
The end of The Day You Died gets me every time. fucking. goddess.
I've had their cd eyelid movies over a year. Seeing them live I can appreciate their music on another level and I still think "When I'm Small" is their best. I wish they'd come to Asheville.
so good!
love his newest release: Phantogram - Fall in Love Wanderlust
oh the way she said thank u so much 💗

Love this band so much, they are incredible live.
Gracias! Me encantaría! Si tan solo fuese usuario de Facebook... :(
lvwpy Existe el grupo de Facebook todavía?
Julieta Belen Hola, existe el grupo de Facebook todavía?
sii! Phantogram Argentina, buscalo!
Just saw this group at Air + style with Kendrick Lamar and diplo with a Groupon that cost me $31. I bet that will be the cheapest I'll ever pay to see Phantogram again. Definitely the coolest show of the day.
Dang, that's cool as shit. I'm freaking still trying to see Kendrick Lamar live. Otherwise, what's good man?
This musicks never gets old.
Just A M A Z I N G !!!
STUNNING !!
Song @ 0:08 is Funeral Pyre
No longer a nameless intro song! :D
YUS! I can't believe they've been hiding it from us for all these years, it's an incredible song, classic Phantogram is a great way to start #Three.
different lyrics too!
I knew I had heard it before!
Is Funeral Pyre from 2013? O.O
Same song, they change the lyrics
Saw them at Sasquatch this year and I must say they have an amazing vibe. Also, Sarah is a god damn beauty.
Good stuff!
WGBH Music You're everywhere
I've loved Phantogram for so long now. I want to see them live so badly. 🖤 and Sarah Barthel! Is just...🥰🥰🥰
Almost 2025 and we’re still here 🎉
Well…it’s 2025 now
Damn, that intro is sick. Love @4:22 onwards. The fact it's not on any albums keeps me coming back to this performance.
A lot of weird hate on this lady I feel like for no reason...I discovered phantogram from a friend a few months ago and never saw either one of them until this video. Genuinely like the music!!... I find it even more bizarre that there is commentary on her looks as, to me, she looks normal in every sense of the word.
+Margaret Mulligan Nah she's hot as fuck
+Margaret Mulligan Well. people on the Internet are generally assholes. I wish everyone would just grow up. To even debate about this here seems frustrating.
Simply wonderful.
som com emoção e sensiblidade...

😊Many many years later I'm still this song. My light is more than anyone could articulate.
I love how she records and then loops herself into her own jam at the beginning of almost every song. She doesn't need a studio track, she'll loop that shit in herself. Lol
Seeing them in a few weeks. Going to be a good time.
The mix must have been set up for The Day You Died (30:48). The balance sounds great in that track, while the rest of the set suffers from quiet vocals. Or maybe the engineer was out for a 30 minute smoke break.
I love Phantogram
This band is way better live than in the Studio.
I want to play this on Riot Radio but I have to cut it up and don't know the song names. Shizza I'll just stick to the studio tracts.
Wait I think the board guy can just pause between songs. DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
That is the way it should be. Bands only make their money playing live these days. Streaming has ruined album sales. Only GOOD live bands will make it to the future
Jamis Billson I typed Good live bands... Live.. Read better.
I don't mean to sound like an asshole but its true both ways. Except for that cookie cutter shit like old Tailor Swift. Lol
Ok 3 days later, i've listened to the record mutiple times, and I really like this live performance *better* than the album versions of these songs...awesome to know these guys sound awesome live
Turning Into Stone live :). Make me happy, but non illusory happiness. Real. That drum beat is really good.
Phantogram sound so amazing live. I will see them every time they are in town. Come back often! Victoria BC Canada!!
They might sound better with a decent editor on the recording end of the sound boards. The musical levels are way to high balanced with the vocals.
You are amazing and I hope you come near Memphis soon!
Of course, inclusive quero eles no próximo Lollapalooza em SP
What makes her look drop dead gorgeous is the way she carries herself.
j'aime beaucoup, c'est très complexe...
Complexe oui, on dirait un peu du Bjorg déjanté, à la Hubert Felix Thiéffaine. Enfin il me semble.
complexe, je ne sais pas, par contre on ressent leurs différentes influences musicales, c'est très riche musicalement ;)
kexp is pretty much the best platform to listen to bands. u all rock, blow my mind and i can only thank you for keeping me inspired and for that matter alive
Very good performance, but the vocals aren't mixed forward enough, especially Sarah. Good voices should not be drowned out by the instrumentation.
And still sounds good!
I'm absolute love with this band. The vocals, the song writing and last but not least the production!!! I can't wait till they come back to Toronto!! Girls voice will touch your heart!!!
20:50 radiohead- i might be wrong
Man, The album brought me here. This stuff is as deep as you want to listen. Only a long week of real listening in so far. Great stuff.
If only her vocals were a little higher in the mix...seems like these engineers always like to bury the vocals a little..I dunno.
I agree
Loud vocals sound pop.
Je suis daccord , il faudrait que sa voix sa au dessus des instruments sa semble évident et les morceaux prendrais de l ampleurs ;@]
The intro always gets me SO PUMPED !!!!!!
🙌✌👽❤💜💙
I want to know the "intro" song!!
It's actually called "Intro". If you order the Phantogram EP vinyl from their website, you'll get a code to download the songs which includes Intro, as well as instrumental versions of Black Out Days and Celebrating Nothing
bchris1977 Really? You can download MP3's of them if you order it? I really want 'Intro!'
It's now called 'Funeral Pyre' off the album 'Three.'
