Thats a great looking sub! One downfall I saw was the weak Bl parameter. The Bl is very low @ 10.24. That might be one thing to start showing is the motor strength of the different models you showcase. That is probably the biggest difference between the subs in how they react relative to the power applied. The equation for motor strength is Bl² / re.

@me I see that now that it was tested at .7 ohms (parallel) I was always told that parameters should be pulled with the coils in series. That makes more sense as the sub seems to do well in the RMS testing at least the 3/4s of it.
@me I agree, every sub I test with my DATS is off from factory specs but the paper usually gives a decent rough estimate.
Low bl is on par for the low low course... contrary to unpopular beliefs
@Widowmaker2828- If this Timpano T3500 (D2) 15" subwoofer were to have the coils tested in series, the BL would be in the 20s.
What if the woofer was tested at the FS it is rated?

It can, I had one on a sfb8000k just doesn’t sound too good, granted it’s an spl sub.

Would like to see you put the Audio Legion Maximus 12 through your test. I run 2 of them on a skar rp2000.1 and they are so damn impressive for $140 using skar evl 12 box specs.
Quick tip if you touch the prob and see what the ohms are then subtract that to the number that you're trying thing that your try to ohm it will be a more accurate number reading. 🎶🎵🛠️👌👍😉✌️

Parker if you can get your hands on the new NVX VCW v3 12 or 15, I think lots of folks would be intrigued. I would do a video but I'm not a you tuber so I leave that to the folks who do well with it. But I have 2 of the 15s and the quality in the build is impressive. I also own the v1 of them. They have the same basket just one is black now but everything else looks and feels so much better. Haven't built the box yet for them but free air they are super smooth, quiet, and have some throw! Would love to see you do a review and add your spin!
I have 2 VCW v3 12s and they SLAM and have great SQ as well the deep bass is so surprising considering I didn’t think they’d do that well it definitely surprised me and I still have them to this day

You have come a long way Parker! Keep up the hard work. I have been into car audio for over 25 years. I am working on a new build right now, I usually have SUVs when I am building my setups, but now I am building a trunk system and trying to find a way to get the sound from the trunk to the cabin. Gas tank is in the trunk, so it is very hard to get all the pressure from the trunk to the front.
That rear window was killing me. Can't handle that much noise when trying to listen to bass. Lol

This is one of those subs that you'll need a bigger box for... The dynamics and specs for this particular woofer translate to a very steep rolloff in performance on the low-end using smaller enclosures. Damn shame that good "all around" and "works in any environment"-type subs are hard to come by.
What about the newly revised 12 from NVX? Other bassheads say they are quality sounding and at 1200 watts x 2 at a decent price would be plenty for me..
The only "newly revised" sub from NVX that I've found any information on is the VCW12v3, so using that as reference in saying this... Comparing it to what I consider to be the "standard" expectation subwoofer in that power range (the CT Sounds Strato 12), the Strato outperforms the NVX model in every way _except_ when it's in a bigger enclosure tuned below 33Hz. So if you plan to tune a big box below that, get the NVX, as the Strato's limited xmax can't sustain being tuned that low with full RMS power for long in that enviroment. However, if you're tuning at 33 or above (or plan to go lower with a smaller box), spend the extra $20 and get the Strato, as it's otherwise better (in a number of ways, including being easier on your electrical, while still feeling like you've got more power going to it than you do compared to the NVX model, all while being at-or-above the NVX in terms of SQ across the spectrum).
Additionally, considering that the two subs talked about here are at least comparable in many regards, the forthcoming "XPL" line I've seen NVX reps talk about _might be_ the sub to beat once it gets released... But that remains to be seen yet with no info on expected arrival or price (or RMS), so (as is) the Strato is the best bet in the ~1200w range.

Now that your playing with 15's you better be in the 150's because when i had my truck and 1 15 i was doing 148db at 24hz and 150.2db at 38hz and thats under 2500rms

Yeah. I don't think any subs power is rated total free air. Not sure why you are doing it, but it's interesting I guess. Seems to be just a burn up a sub video. I'd think you would get more support by giving the subs away instead of burning it up
Every since I seen him blame the dc level 5 12 for blowing and not taking accountability for having it in a box to big, clipping the sub, and playing a harsh test tone. I think he just test subs but actually knows nothing about car audio.

It is a skar vxf , most likely same build house too lol . Timpano just just added their little cosmetic spin to it and charge more 🤦🏽♂️. I would recommend the skar vxf as well , you just can’t beat the amount of performance you get for the money . And it kills them lows 🔊💪
@@MJamal55 correct...it is from the same build house (China Future Sound) which also was the build house and co-owner for Audio Legion, which was the sister brand for Skar, and was their internet sales based brand, which they are phasing out. Good 👁🗨

Any idea as to why I would have sub getting warm and the other just as cool as can be. Final load is 1 ohm both play the same no smell also this didn't start till I installed in my new box subs up port back.

What do you have in terms of fuses cuz the subs change all the time but not the amp so do you just have a fuse rated for the max of the amp?

I never understood why measure in the floor or at the corner of the windshield. I mean do people stick their head down there? Wouldn't it be better to measure where your ears would be?

Can you please also say, that just because it took this much power to blow a subwoofer, doesn't mean it will blow on less or more power if someone else uses one, you blew it because of the application, if its in a better application it won't blow up, and it'll last a lot longer

I've ran the parameters, and it's not gonna like small enclosures... But considering it's 3500w RMS, SQ wasn't its intention either. That considered, if you're wanting that much power and are willing to have a big box, there's a lot of worse subs you could go with for SQ than this one.
This sub is $385 at Parts-express and they list the box size at 4.25 tuned to 29 hz with an F3 of 26 hz.

And just an FYI, the response across the spectrum for these subs was very linear, amongst the best results I've seen for subs rated more than 2k watts (and probably the best overall value proposition), so you'll have lots of fun with these while sounding quite good... Maybe once you're up and running you could post some videos of them playing... 🤞🏻👍🏼
So I was thinking about getting a Taramps Smart 5k but I was wondering if the fan was to loud and if it's even worth it because of that.

It is the same sub, with a lower compliance suspension, and a little less BL.

@@Bigdeal9898 almost everything is different. The baskets, the motors, the suspension and cones. It's really Apple to oranges between the 2.

@@Bigdeal9898 well, the VFX yields a higher BL, it has a lower fs, and has a higher sensitivity.. but less cone area and less xmax, and more of an sql driver for them. ZVX is more spl oriented driver and can be used with less box volume. Just depends on what you're expectancy is out of a driver.
If you change out the fan to a brush less motor fan it will make a big difference in sound 😉🎶🎵👌👍✌️🛠️ bumping and hitting hard

The question is it worth it to you? You will take trade offs with any amp you decide on. Not saying the amp is bad...but neither is a half bridge Korean amp. It depends on what YOU want and are looking for. Quality? Quantity? Reliability? Efficiency? Warranty? Compatibility? Price point? Customer service?

That sub looks beefy, really surprised it didn't make it longer and it was under the rated 1750w rms. The fs was a little lower than usual maybe free air it at a lower frequency 🤷
It has a lower BL than most subs in its power class, and it saturated the coil more quickly...causing thermal breakdown more rapidly.

It looks like a solid unit, toss em on a smart 5k or bass 8k I'd rock a pair those puppy's. It's a stout looking sub but only has a 3" coil it's to bad they didn't toss an 8 layer coil instead of a 4 layer it may have passed the test... Kind of looks like its a skar VXF with a zvx motor. Rather have a Vxf motor with an extra slug that would make it 450oz, with that motor the Vxf would be one bad mutha.

Hey I got a question about your lithium battery bank. How many amp isolator are u using. I put a 500 amp and I will trip it easily are u running multiple isolaters or take out the agm under the hood?
Parker did a video on his power bank and talks about it all. I want to say it was about 10 or so videos back in time. It was part of the build videos when he did the 8 15's box. I hope this helps you in some way.

If you don't want to blow your amps put a fuse on the positive. Just before the speaker terminal. You'll have to swap fuses with each sub and better than replacing amps. I want to build an amp using microwave transformers as the toroids
