My only Fugazi show was at the Silver Dollar club in Phoenix- they didn't play inside- they played in the alley behind the building. There was a police helicopter with a spotlight hovering over the whole show. Surreal.
Mine was in Peoria , Illinois. A bunch of racist skin heads showed up and Fugazi wouldn’t play for them. They humiliated them til they finally left. Great stuff.
Saw them back in the day in Chicago. They stopped the show a couple of times to tell everyone to take one big step back because I guess it was getting intense up front. At the time, my snotty little teenage ass thought that was bogus and not "punk". Now of course, I can appreciate how awesome that was for them to do. Truly cared about their audience and wanted everyone to have a safe, fun night!

Great job on this man. You took one of the single best live performances of this masterpiece and did the video in a way that makes the (slower) studio version mesh with (always) faster live versions. Well done.
Thank you! I was fortunate enough to see them many times at some of those sweaty shows in low ceilinged clubs, lecture halls, and gymnasiums. Putting this video together brought back some great memories, glad you enjoyed it.
@@djfuggi that’s what live music is all about. It pains me to people watching entire shows through the lens of their phone. They don’t disconnect long enough to be in that moment and carry it with as a memory. Thank goodness I was born in ‘73.
In 90 or maybe 91, they played the Newcastle Riverside. One song in, they asked for the house lights to be put on, so they could see the audience. Akin to being in a nightclub at the end of the night, when dimmed light anonymity is shattered. The remainder of the set was quite majestic! One of my favourite bands to listen to on tape during that time, since I didn't have a record player.
Mir, 70er Jahre kid läuft das ❤ über. Die Jungs sind sowas von hochgradig sexy (das Wort benutze ich sonst nie)! Energie pur. Musik ist das beste im Leben. Dankbar & glücklich für den Sound der 70/80/90er.

I've listened to a lot of challenging music since 13 Songs came out (free jazz, avant garde classical, noise, etc.) but nothing has ever blown my mind the way that listening to that record for the first time did. It completely rearranged my brain. I was a 16 year old straight edge kid in rural MN who loved Minor Threat and I literally didn't know what to do with that record. I quickly got over it and I love them to this day, but I don't know how to explain to someone who grew up with the internet how difficult it was to find out about new music. Everything was so small and localized. So much exciting music has been made since then. Anything goes. It's beautiful.
Oh but they didn’t. I was on the scene and many of the HC kids basically walked away from Fugazi. Minor Threat was basically the quintessential HC band and when Fugazi formed, so many of us had our hopes high that it was Minor Threat 2.0. But it wasn’t. And while some of us stayed on, many others completely walked away from Ian at that point.
@@mrjaronchilds577you went to record stores, local shows, read the mags, and sent people tapes. THAT is how we found new music. There was nowhere near the amount as there is today, but we came out just fine. So much in fact that all the young kids want to be our age, having been able to experience some great stuff.
Yeah, Fugazi helped me out of a tight spot once and I've remained loyal ever since. You see there was a time, long ago, when I adored middle of the road pop music. A terrible time filled with michael jackson, wham and the eagles, so so much the eagles but then Fugazi cleaned my ears out, with a power drill. Life has been better since. If you or someone you love has a similar affliction simply dial 1800 F U G A Z I and help will be on the way.

I can’t love this enough. That baseline has the deepest hook. The energy, the timing, 2 bar silent pauses, animated backup singers… perfection.

fugazi forever
Seen them in 89 in liverpool planet X ,they blew my mind
This is it. The greatest of the greats.
I'm hypnotized by the moves. Especially of the dude in a skirt all the way back. Meh, so raw.
Love this song soo much! Greetings from Portugal!
Legendary
I like how everyone at the show stops dancing during the pauses and they just kinda stare at the band like, "Yoo, wtf dawg that was fire".
Fantastico montaggio! Bravissimo!!!
Racist?
Feels like clawing all that lost time back.
fugazi never gets old!
I’m surprised that the hardcore kids embraced this at the time, it’s a testament to the credibility that Ian, & discord had in the scene.
I'll wait patiently
