The Dirty Mac performing ""Yer Blues"" from The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus
Recorded before a live audience in London in 1968, The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus was originally conceived as a BBC-TV special. Directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, it centers on the original line up of The Rolling Stones -- Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman (with Nicky Hopkins and Rocky Dijon) -- who serves as both the show’s hosts and featured attraction. For the first time in front of an audience, “The World’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band” performs six Stones classics. The program also includes extraordinary performances by The Who, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, Yoko Ono, and The Dirty Mac. A ‘supergroup’ before the term had even been coined, the band was comprised of Eric Clapton (lead guitar), Keith Richards (bass), Mitch Mitchell of The Jimi Hendrix Experience (drums), and John Lennon on guitar and vocals.

A piece of The Beatles , The Rolling Stones , Cream , and The Jimi Hendrix Experience. If this wasn't recorded a lot of people probably wouldn't have believed it happened.

his voice is rock and roll as far as im concerned
This been on here since the early days, not by this ABKCO-VEVO channel tho. Back in the day it was way easier to get cool recommendations because there were ACTUAL recommendations instead of stuff you have already watched on the right. You could find the coolest things. Like with this you would get Rory Gallagher - Bullfrog Blues (Live) and Jimi Hendrix - Fire (Live at Woodstock) and Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird (Live). Last 10-12 years you don't get anything of the sort, and it sucks lol.

When you have KEITH RICHARDS on bass then you know it’s a damn good group.

'Yer Blues' (with Jagger and Lennon's introduction) and 'Whole Lotta Yoko' were filmed and are on The Rolling Stones Rock'n'Roll Circus blu ray and dvd. 'Revolution' (and the warm up jam) are audio only extras on the 2019 reissue set. There's a multi camera cut of Yer Blues too, but it's just a four screen version of the same take. PS. This is probably a controversial opinion. For me, rock need to include elements of rebellion, counter-culture, agression, darkness, pain etc. If you don´t authentically convey some of these elements in your music, you´re just a rock poser in my opinion. That´s why Christian rock doesn´t work, rock and Christian is a paradox. Bruce Springsteen isn´t rock either. One can play the distorted guitars, have the clothes, the haircuts etc., but if you´re a passive, agreeable, in the pocket of the establishment all around happy person, you´re just a poser in the rock genre. That does NOT mean you´re not a great artist, I love Bruce, Elvis, Chuck, Paul McCartney, but they were not rock like Lennon is, like Ozzy is, like Cobain is etc.
This is literally one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Mitch Mitchell (..and a silent Yoko on the sideline)..Bravo!!! 🔥🔥🔥
"Yer Blues" for any other group, other than the Beatles, would probably been considered a great hit.
The Beatles had such a vast catalogue of awesome songs, this one, seems to get overlooked as a classic.
One of my top five
The Beatles?
Thats some of The Rolling Stones...The Jimi Hendrix Experience....Cream/Derek & the Dominos,AND The Beatles
You cant be very old to make that statement. If you're over 30 im surprised
@@donjonsen5295 Recorded by the Beatles in the white album, get your facts straight.
Don Jonsen lmao this dipshit pretended to be smart but doesn’t even know the white album’s track listings.
@@donjonsen5295 you absolute dumbfuck. hahaha. listen to the white album bitch.
Clapton and Keef both know how ridiculously good it is to be playing with John.
What
No me parece
It's pretty straightforward. Keef wanted to play bass with John so much he wouldn't let Bill do it. Clapton literally joined a band with John less than a year later.
They loved to play with John!
Of course not, they knew each othe for long. It was not like they looked at him as a god like many fans do. They were incredible musicians on their own.
100% loud
100% dirty
100% desperate
100% pure
There’s not a single Beatle track that was not ahead of it’s time
yo ass dick riding cause this is a different supergroup
Heh...
100% mac
Except honey don’t
@@andrewleaming3049 that was a cover of a Carl Perkins tune
Lennon just radiates confidence here. A man in his element. The band's not bad, either...!
Lol John knew he was top shit.
For once he was top shit, in Beatles he was not top dog .@@dcmastermindfirst9418
John's voice is screaming like a Gretsch guitar with distortion, so powerful🔥🔥🔥
well said!
greatest live rock singer ever
Lennon, the real king of rock. His voice delivers what he feels at the right moment with amazing ease.
John Lennon is the greatest songwriter of all time.....the King of rock and roll was, is and always will be ELVIS !!!!!!!!
@@ITILII Chuck Berry will always be the King to me. Sorry.
@@ITILII How dare you disrespect Chuck Berry like that? THE true King of Rock n Roll
Agree

"Simply the presence of all these magicians together is completely overwhelming."

Beautiful trio
Yoko's best contribution to John's music ever
Why the Yoko bashing?
She has to be the worst performer/artist of all time as far as talent goes
Sergio Balaguera John Lennon simply went mad!!! This no talent witch now has all his wealth!!!
Um Cara Qualquer How romantic of John Lennon to forget the lyrics twice! of his paean to his obnoxious and untalented girl friend, Yoko Ono, during the sloppy Apple Studios rooftop concert on January 30,1969. One of those performances was originally included in the "Let It Be" film, with the flubbed lyrics, for all to see. The people who mixed the "Let It Be...Naked" version of "Don't Let Me Down", had to combine two performances on the rooftop gig to make one whole version without the Lennon flubbing of the lyrics at different parts of the song. I've never understood why Producer Phil Spector didn't include the studio "B" Side version of "Don't Let Me Down" on the original "Let It Be" album but included the dreadful throwaways "Dig A Pony" and "Dig It"!!!
@@raulmacias1311 I like Dig a Pony.
John's voice really is powerful.
God, do you just love John Lennon. This performance is from the Rolling Stones "Rock and Roll Circus": a debaucherous weekend party/concert in 68 London. Taj Mahal, The Who amongst others. A must see. John appears to have had the time of his life.
Vintage brilliance, what a feeling to hear it all again. It was a raw Clapton at his very best, Keith Richards excellent Rythmn guitar playing John Lennons magnetic frontman Presence and guitar playing. Mitch Mitchell a sensational drummer. Thank you for this ❤
3:28 to 3:50 is pure Rock n Roll magic: from that epic shot of Clapton, Lennon and Richards' feet tapping in unison, to Mitch missing the queue for the hard stop while Lennon laughs and Richards shrugs his shoulders to Lennon tuning a string while still singing and playing the song.
So great so great ....mistakes are made ...love it ...not this packaged crap put out today
You can think of it as Mitch screwing the arrangement. For me it sounds like it was okey arrangement but Keith rushed the note and screwed the execution.
Ringo was much better than people like to give him credit for. Rock solid drummer.
Hahaha, yep. Doesn't get much better.
@@lous8619 I agree, ringo was a perfectionist type technician drummer he was always right on point to whatever he was doing never ever over doing it or falling short of what was needed. He was a professional musician not a banger or show off. Just did his role without flaw
Only Mr. Lennon could do something like this. He took blues to a different dimension here. A real blues-rock, clever and soulful at the same time...
He was mocking blues songwriting but I do agree that he took it to something else plus the sarcasm in the lyrics make it even better to me
to a different dimension? what do you mean?
"But I am of the Universe, and you know what its worth" is a meaningless reference to New Age religion.
Yer Blues is the worst Beatle song I ever heard, and I don't care who plays it.
Because he doesn't have one. Neither do you.
@@cruzgonzalez8326 This is like alternative rock before alternative was a thing.
Anxiety in John's vocals, simple yet very stressed rhythm, abstract lyrics, time signature changes and breaks outta nowhere, etc.
Mitch Mitchell - Great drummer and up there with the very best
Stumbling upon this was like finding out one of the biggest "wouldn't it have been amazing if" moments actually happened and was caught on tape.
Thank God Yoko kept her mouth shut.
Not for long though
Don't put down Yoko. You've never even met her.
Godzilla Japan you’re a complete loser. Defending Yoko is one of the top 5 frowned upon thing in the world
Got into a bag and was never seen again.
@@gogoyubari366 Dude, she fucking screams like a sheep during concerts. This show was a masterpiece. Absolutely no one wanted Yoko to ruin this.

The best heroin convention ever.

Wow! super group!!!
Mitch Mitchell what a fantastic drummer!!!
WHAT A GIG! Lennon could tear up a vocal chord and keep singing. 1:59 John goes into a whole sacred level of singing and Clapton just smiles like "My GOD he is good"
