Suicidal Tendencies - "Institutionalized" Frontier Records - Official Music Video
Artist city, country: Venice, California, U.S.A.
Artist Biography: Suicidal Tendencies is an American crossover thrash band founded in 1981 in Los Angeles, California by Mike Muir, its leader and only permanent member. The band is often credited as one of "the fathers of crossover thrash".
Suicidal Tendencies rose to fame with their 1983 self-titled debut album, which spawned the single "Institutionalized". That single was one of the first hardcore punk videos to receive substantial airplay on the music video outlets of that day and age.

Men will literally start a successful rock band rather than go to therapy
So, if you search this song now, December 2023.. A suicide helpline page will pop up on TH-cam. If only they knew that I just wanted a Pepsi.
When I say, "All I want is a Pepsi." Nobody ever gets the reference. I feel old.
Imagine defining a musical genre because all you wanted was a soft drink
This song is literally one whole mental breakdown
Sponsored by Pepsi
Lots of people think he's having a mental breakdown here. No, he's seeing things clearly. He's frustrated with the idiots that get to have authority over him. All of those controlling lunatics are driving him crazy. Gotta get away from them
This is the only song that shows what it's really like for a young person being misunderstood and attacked at all angles. He starts out just wanting time alone and then you literally hear the music fall apart and swirl up into a full mental breakdown. It's funny because my Mom also came into my room while i was staring at the ceiling and yelled at me for being on drugs when I was just tired from school.
As a new father, this song really makes me want to take the time and effort necessary to hear out my kids and not dismiss their feelings like they did with Mike. I will also give them Pepsi whenever they want.

Rocky was such an underrated guitarist. This song is basically him ripping a solo throughout the whole thing while Mike talks about his problems. Love Suicidal.
I drank Coke before I seen this video. I've now been a Pepsi drinker for forty years. And at 59, I still jam to Suicidal Tendencies.🤘🤘
This still kicks fuckin' ass 40 years later! Saw them in the Bay Area in '85 and pitted with Cliff Burton.
Back in 1986, I had " Suicidal Tendencies" written in theirs big cool letters, on the back of my leather jacket, and I had my hair like GBH singer, , and I can tell you that people we're waiting that I walked by acouple of feet to turn back and READ AGAIN what was on my jacket!🤣 I'm 57 now, and still love them, but men sometimes I miss those days!!!
This is the male version of Girls just wanna have fun

40 years old! 1983 release! WOW
I went to your schools, your churches, your institutionalised learning facilities, and you call me crazy? Exactly.
I had nu metal for my teenage anger I felt back in the late 90s-early 2000s, but man oh MAN did this song encapsul how it was for me and my parents back then! From the church thing, wanting to seek therapy but being denied it, parents breaking my metal CDs because they thought it was "satanic" and making me "evil and depressed", etc.
I was a metalhead, but went to a small school so I was friends with the punk rockers, never really cared for punk, but this song is always good and classic!
