    You're not supposed to use a torque wrench for loosening bolts.

    • @loghorizon45
      @loghorizon45 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But why? I mean it makes the job easier since you can apply more torque on those bolts. With a normal wrench, you need to apply more force

    • @singleproppilot
      @singleproppilot 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re absolutely correct, yet in the real world, aircraft mechanics do it this way all the time. It’s just easier to have one tool for both loosening and tightening. Plus the torque wrenches are recalibrated annually, so you would know it if you knocked one out of calibration.

  • @javacup912
    @javacup912 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Nice video, but for a maintenance procedure in a controlled environment, it lacks one safety item. The wheel and brake should have been removed with a dolly designed for this specific job, which allows one person to do the job, much safer than two or three people. The shown procedure is used when one is in the boondocks with little support from better tools. But in a hangar, with the airplane on jacks, it would have looked better if the dolly was used instead of hand labor. Of course, it's much easier to do all this when one is in a nice dry hangar, when the brake and wheel are not hot, or when it's not raining, snowing, 40°C +, or the pressure of passengers waiting, thru flight, etc. But in all fairness, good presentation.
