    There’s a affordable boat option for everyone at every level of fishing. Don’t for one second believe that owning a boat is out of reach for you. Think about what you need in a boat and shop for a rig that serves your needs.

      @@allenbmooresharinginformation if you make over 50k a year then what’s not even 10% of your wage if you get a decent tin rig for 20-28k like srsly payment and insurance for a year is under 4K so the expense is justifiable I take my boat out every time I’m not on the road working I prefer fishing rivers and a little Jon boat with a 9.9 can’t go everywhere safely

    Yep, this is the truth. I'll be fishing ABA tournaments this year and some big bass one offs out of a Tracker 175txw with a 75hp Mercury. 4 blade spitfire prop. Helix 10s, Ultrex, hopefully mega 360 by mid season. Shallow water capability. You're correct. My biggest limitation is fuel/range. Even for the local/regional circuit I fish.

    Great video, I started with a 17ft, then bumped up to a 19ft triton, then a 21ft cobra. Now I'm in a 21ft legend that original had a 200hp merc on it. Blew my power head and put a 250 pro xs on it. What a world of difference it made, and definitely agree, bigger boat holds in the water much better.

    My F185 has a 175 hanging on the back. Took me 15 months to get it but it was worth the wait. But I've always ran boats that size and I've never wished for a bigger boat because it's more difficult to get them into tighter spaces. And for those who are wondering, it'll run 65+ with a full load and power poles.

    I have a 19’ boat with a 200 as my tournament rig. Started out with it because it’s what I could afford but now I don’t think I’d change. Fits in the garage better, easier to tow, easier to load and launch on my own. The only thing that sucks about it is when I want to fish more than 2 guys out of it it gets tight. And an extra foot or 2 would make running rough water even easier. But for a tournament angler that is spending 90% of their time with no more than 2 guys in their boat it is the deal.

    I agree with 100% of this video, however, I have never honestly thought of range in the equation. I’m going to do some math based on GPH estimates of the three engines you’ve mentioned. This will decide my choice for my new boat. Keep being you brother!

    • @ripptydevibes2581
      @ripptydevibes2581 ปีที่แล้ว

      The savings in GPH does not give small engines further range. Pretty much standard that the bigger the engine the further the range

    Honestly I think 18 8 is truly the perfect bass boat size, can get into tight spaces very maneuverable, but big enough to handle significantly rough water...plus that’s the longest you can typically get a single axle trailer from most brands which I think are better cause there’s less crap to worry about

    I'd say the ride quality is another big one too. I started on a 16ft the went to a 20ft Skeeter that was really smooth, then drove a friend's 22ft Ranger that was amazingly smooth, then I bought a 19ft Ranger that is an extremely rough ride and less stable compared to my Skeeter and that 22ft ranger. Right now after 1 year, I'm already trying to find a way to sell the 19 and get a 20ft boat again because I live on a Lake of the Ozarks which is extremely busy and rough and the 19 is just a killer and sketchy ride.

    I think 19 to 21 is the place to be. HP doesn't matter. Always a speed demon that's faster. I have a 21 ft skeeter and my fishing partner has a 19 ft skeeter. My boats more stable all out but his isn't unstable. The pros don't outweight the cons and vise versa.... His boat gets into tighter shallower spots. Mines more enjoyable offshore in rough water. Comes down to what you can afford, store, tow etc. I'll never go back to a 16 ft boat unless I have to. I hope I don't have to!

    200hp Yamaha 4 stroke at WOT uses 19.2 gph. A 250 hp Yamaha 4 stroke at WOT uses 23.8 gph. Big Difference. If you can run 72 mph in a 195 with a 200hp motor and 40 gallons of fuel (like you say), your range would be 150 miles at WOT. Running a bigger heavier 205 with a 250 Yamaha 4 stroke at 72 mph, would give you a range of 151 miles at WOT. Lot to consider for just an extra mile.

    • @deckmonkey1459
      @deckmonkey1459 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure it's going to be an equal comparison in real life. The 20 is about 13% heavier with 25% more HP and you wouldn't be going WOT. I would think you could go the same speed with less throttle in the bigger boat especially because the 250 has a higher gear ratio. You might only have to run at 3500 rpm instead of 4500 rpm. The 200 is also more fuel efficient than a 150 at some speeds, up to 30% more so that could also be the case with the 250.

      You guys running low proboats not so much..I find what's above the water works like a parachute when the wind starts.
      Honestly I have been in different boats the same size that had more stability than others. Hull design and weight layout might be more important than just a half a foot or more.

    Man they need to put the pro xs 175 on that 185.. Now what's the difference in the 200 to the 250? They are the same weight. I have a triton 19trx with a 225 and it runs the same speed as my buddy's 18trx with 200. I know the 200 thru the 300 pro xs 4s are all the same displacement. So why not be able to have 225 on the 19ft?

  • @hunterbull7804

    I like the 205 Hybrid. Why is it the norm to put carpet in bass boats? Your hooks stick to it and I get really bad leg fatigue. I saw a Falcon hybrid at a dealer at Lake Conroe that had every option and was like 90 grand though! One thing I like a lot on the falcons is how the rod locker opens. My dream boat is still a gambler though.

    Fiberglass vs aluminum bass boat

  • @nonstopcontracting4894
    @nonstopcontracting4894 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Each to their own. I'm a believer in bigger the better. I enjoy a deeper hull for a better ride, I like the space and storage, I'm a multi species fisherman and carry a ton of equipment. The length is nice, I didnt hear any talk about the breadth . Again, stability. It makes a huge difference in big water. If you fish smaller bodies of waters them fine, but running 18' or 19' is all you need to run on Lake Erie if you know how to drive? No, I disagree.

    I wonder what the real difference in range is. When you have a smaller boat, yes your gas tank is smaller but so is your engine which burns less fuel so it should balance out. Or close to it.

    • @BrianLatimerFishing
      @BrianLatimerFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They really don’t burn that much less. I have a 115 pro xs. The range is far less in that boat than my competition boat
