Hey man, thanks for the great info. I just ordered an Alienware M18 and for the ram I got the 5800 xmp 32gb ddr5 option. Seeing this video helped me enable XMP when it gets here! Thanks a lot brother. EDIT: I got my laptop and it seems it was already enabled for you if you chose the XMP capable RAM upgrade when buying it and customizing it at checkout.
I have a Lenovo motherboard and I cant seem to find any settings inside the bios that would allow me enable anything related to xmp seems very very few setting available to me, I should add my ram is XMP compatable
Hey i cant find the performance mode setting, i did change the default setup i have an acer nitro 5 and i dont know if maybe there just isnt that setting on this laptop
First thing you have to find out is if the RAM is XMP enabled. Next, intel or amd? If intel, and you can't see performance settings in bios... The best you can do is get MSI Afterburner, and INTEL XTX to bring up performance. You won't have the option to enable XMP, without performance settings in bios.. But you can at least tweak the RAM timings with INTEL XTX. If you're on AMD, you should have access to similar settings as "performance" regardless of computer manufacturer.
Acer is a selfish company and doesn't let most users access this feature. Reason being is most likely due to warranty. When a comany provides a good warranty they usually don't allow features like this.
Hey, I have (pretty much) the exact same looking bios as you but in the advanced tab i cant see the performance options even after loading the optimised defaults. My motherboard is the asus prime h310m-r r2.0 fyi
It's got to be the type of RAM then. The thing about ram, is the only way default bios works is if the RAM has XMP profiles to select in performance settings.

That means it operates on a completely different bios. But many times, the system will have two 8gb slots one being on the back of the motherboard, have you looked into where the ram slot locations are for that specific laptop?

Question I just added 8GB 3200Mhz with 4GB 2666Mhz Ram is it possible to overclock
You can only go as high as the lowest mhz ram stick. So even with the new 3200, you're stuck at 2666 as long as you use the 4gb stick
How do you do it on an acer pc
plz respond
An acer.. depends on the motherboard and type of pc you have. If you can provide me details on what type you have and the OS (Operating System). I may be able to help.
Hi
I have an Alienware area51m r2 with 2x32gb ram from Kingston it’s not the fury one but it does support 3200 mhz
But i am currently at 2933mh
I did everything but I can’t find the xmp1 option to select on the final step.
Thank you
Dell put out an update to limit the system to 2933. It's just dell being assholes.
I don’t have a performance option inside of advanced what should i do?
Probably need a better computer or an manufacturer that allows access to performance in bios. MSI, AORUS, ROG, all provide this.
@@JBORD101my MSI doesn’t show it
hey dude, i have 2.8 gigabyte hardware reserved ram, i tried resetting the bios and it worked, and then it got back to 2.8 gb hardware reserved, then i reset the bios again and it worked, then im now back to 2.8 hardware reserved, and i tried resetting bios to default settings again it didn't work and now im stuck with 3.19 ram although i have 6 gb ram... i have hp p012ne if u need it, windows 10 64 bit
Well. Sadly you have to use a few GB of RAM just to run the computer. The best option for you is to get a 16gb ram card and use that. 16gb will give the system and any game you play plenty of memeory to function, and it's relatively cheap.
@@JBORD101 alr man appreciate it
well help please i have legion y540-15irh and for some reason 1. mine bios looks like from 1980 compare to other legion videos 2.i dont have any over clock options in bios
Make sure everything is up to date first off. To include the bios, cpu, gpu, system hardware.. This should give you access to a performance option, and if it doesn't then it is because you don't have RAM that has XMP profiles on it.
I use an HP desktop but I couldn't find the settings so it didn't work help please i could go into the bios and than press F9 but it didn't get met access to those settings
HP normally doesn't allow these settings. Sometimes their OMEN series has access, but they lock the settings if you didn't pay top dollar..
@@JBORD101 well that seems an good reason to get an new motherboard and psu and case to just easily step away from HP and being able to use xmp settings
Can someone help so basically, i have this ram which is ddr4 2400 mhz but whenever i install this ram to my pc my pc would go slow and when i open the task manager CPU % stuck on 99 and the most high percentage is services and controller apps
You might need to restore the drive at that point. Or get a new set of ram.. this is a weird one, I'll admit.
I cannot see administrator even after clicking F9, pls help
It's the advanced options and performance options, the. XMP if your ram is able
i can't find xmp profile thing my pc is a medion erazer i have i5-9400 and rtx 2060
It likely doesn't have performance settings. Or your ram doesn't have xmp.
Bro I have Alienware x17 r1 and i have put kingston fury impact 32gb and in bios overclock is enabled and xmp 1 is selected but can't increase the speed still stays on 3200mhz not 3466mhz
Do help me figure it out?
The dell alienware motherboard/bios maxes out at 3200. I'm in the same boat but it's hardware limitation, and is part of Dell's design. Sorry I don't have better news brother, I know its frustrating
I can't see the overclocking settings
You may not have the option in general
@@JBORD101 so how we can overclock?
@@shinx4366 overclocking ram is dependant on manufacturers a lot. But you can download intel XTU or MSI Afterburner and overclock your system in general.
@@JBORD101 ohh thanks
Thanks Canelo!
