Sure that map is perfectly realistic. You simply recreated the isthmus of Panama rotated 90 degrees anticlockwise, complete with a manmade canal bisecting it. I thought that's what you were doing until you said otherwise. The actual map generation didn't do you any favors though.

Cheers mate! Btw the game has a free demo on Steam which is unlimited, it's just an older version of the game. So if you have the time, you may as well give it a go :)
@@OshanMan oh, I have been playing that demo thinking it was the full game because someone told me it was, I guess its time for me to finally buy the game then.
The game has quite a steep learning curve - the early game is the hardest as usual - but once you reach the late game and become insanely rich, it's easy going.

I've started watching this series to see other way of doing things in the city. And yes, You are doing everything other way that I would think should be done. Super interesting to see a different perspective and I hope to learn something. Im in my second city now, little more than 1.3k so far, so bit beyond basics, but it is interesting nonetheless. Your strategy with early trade is cool. I always (well, "always" in my case means just two attempts) try to build my cities self sustainable, but next time I think I will try it this way.
First of their Name used to be a GOAT ass title, now since the update, its become the worst title to get, and an absolute trap that can fuck you. Making it worse than useless, its game breaking. I started a new game just yesterday with it, and while it gives you 55 people, and food to last a few days, it also absolutely pisses off your population. Because with 55 people, comes the expectations of 55 people, and they all start off fuming at not having their needs instantly met. Its nearly impossible to fulfil their needs to satisfy them before they start striking, rioting, or just emigrating altogether. Most of the time, i dont even have a few days to give them housing a stable food source and basic services before its lord of the flies. We all know the things you need at the start, housing, wells, hearth, warehouse, speaker, janitor and food source. But you rarely have the time to build all of that before people start shit over how mad they are Honestly it ruined the game for me and i quit for a while after that update, i only just came back and ended up losing a bunch of people to emigration at the start. Once i had 30 or so though, their moods stabilized and now im up to almost 360.
I'm at a weird spot with logistics in my build. Currently, it's cretonians. Eventually, I'd like to shift to cretonians and dondorians but have them on opposite sides of the map. I'm struggling with logistics for shipping food back and forth in a way that makes sense. Anyone have advice on figuring out how to ensure resources are moving properly throughout your cities?
By default, warehouses have a very low operational range in the latest game version. Try clicking on one and changing its "radius" to cover more of the map. This is probably what's messing you up right now. Hope that helps :)
"We're going to make the easiest start to SoS." *Creates Isthmus of Panama on a fever dream of a map* Now just figure out how to facilitate white collar financial crimes and you'll have the real deal Panama on your hands.
Hey there, Mr. Oshan! I'm a little late to the party, seeing that you have made more videos by now. I have an intuition I'm a little older than you, so maybe my tastes are different, but in my experience, the best TH-camrs/Letsplayers/whatever are the ones that just freestyle with whatever is on their mind; eventually you'll find the most natural style for you. Btw, having been unemployed for a year know, and after several automated rejection emails, don't let the Blank Template live rent free in your head
Hey mate, your words are appreciated regardless of their time of arrival So far, I've been following my established process for making videos, which might not necessarily be the most natural style for me but allows me to practice what I studied in analysing and making it more efficient and it's working out well, so I'm enjoying my time. I'm coming up on being unemployed for half a year. It's a bit rough but I'm fortunate to have my family's support, so thankfully, I'm not too miffed. If you ever feel lost, I wholeheartedly believe trying to create something, does wonders for our health and wellbeing somehow, even if it's just for ourselves and not for other people. Best of luck with it all and thanks again!
I never realy enjoyed playing Humans because they are so hard to keep happy, they require so much services compared to other races. I got over 1500 pop with Garthimis and almost as much with Amevias without any trouble, but with humans Im just struggling. (I always played a single species playthrough) Am I playing humans wrong or are they just not the right species for me?
Hey mate, no sweat if you can't play as humans, as long as you're enjoying the game, since that's the most important thing :) That being said, I would say it's not super difficult if you wanted to do well them, just a bit trickier than the rest. Try to focus on one or two food sources, one or two industries and then go all in on research labs and import everything else as needed. It typically keeps them happy for me since they love researching stuff. With all the tech points can make your few industries super efficient and also make all the services as the other brudda mentioned. Hope that helps :)
You can also make one big video a month. A 10h video with chapters. That way people would watch as many episodes as they want in one go and you would also avoid the curse of the views dropping sharply every episode. Like, you are putting the same effort in every video but since youtube only recommends the first episode you get less and less value for your efforts. Some youtubers have done it and they seem to like that format. P.S. Just to be sure I will clarify that what I said is only a suggestion, just throwing an idea at you, no pressure or demands. I will watch your vids regardless of format as long as you put effort into them 🙂
Cheers for the suggestion :) I think the current system I'll be putting in place will be more manageable but I could certainly experiment with making movie length, higher quality stuff. I just feel like I'll get sick of editing a massive timeline, haha

So far as content goes, I enjoy videos that have a point to them rather than the "waffly-longplay" style videos. They can be up to an hour long, but any longer and I just won't have time to watch them (dad-mode). If you want to appeal to younger audiences, then keep the video time under 10 minutes. RE video format, I know some successful TH-camrs take notes (pen + paper) whilst they're recording of where interesting events take place (eg. people starving @ 20 mins. bugs invade @ ~40 mins). That way, it's easier to jump-cut edit to interesting sections, and you can save yourself the breath between those parts if you have nothing to say.
Cheers mate! I've been experimenting with video formats since this video and I think I understand the direction I'd like to go from now on: A condensed (10-45 minute) video or two a month, Maybe a guide video or two as well, And a two hour stream every week/fortnight. Since you're a father, I do not recommend my streams, since I cannot guarantee their family friendliness just yet. The tip with the notetaking, I've been doing a version of it where I stay silent during the recording and then talk only when interesting things happen, so it'd be easier to see in the editing but writing down actual times might be better overall.
@@anti-mate407 ahh, the reason that one neighbour asked for 80k while Cretonians asked for only 8k was because the 80k nation had 10x the population/power/size, so they demand more money for them to bother trading, haha
