    Hi Taz, the "mold" in your kettle could have been just a stone boiled out of your tap water, uk tap water is considered as hard, highly mineral water!
    For the cleaning method I don't like the vinegar smell staying in the kettle so we use at home 50% water and 50% lemon juice, works well too!

    • @MySuriMusic
      @MySuriMusic 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +26

      You can also boil water and a couple spoons of acid citric powder in the kettle. Works just the same but quicker and probably cheaper 😊 just don't forget to rinse well afterwards.

    • @flibbertygibbette
      @flibbertygibbette 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @@MySuriMusic I use citric acid powder, too! Works better than vinegar for me for descaling the pot, and can take off years of limescale. It's actually really great for cleaning and as long as you get food grade citric acid, you can also use it in those occasional recipes that call for it.

      Up up, it’s limescale/stone! Water is hard here and most of us, use filtering water jugs that then we use to pour more filtered water into the kettle so we don’t have to clean it as often. Water in London is notoriously really hard (and gives many people dandruff due to irritating skin) so having a filtering jug is important! Not mold and won’t hurt you but it will make your water taste eh and no one likes weird chunks in their drinks!

      From how she was talking about it, I would say this is probably what it was but some kettles are poorly made, and they do trap moisture, which for anyone with a poorly made kettle can cause mold, easiest way to prevent. It is just leave the top open, so it can dry better.

    supposed to use half the seasoning packet, if you eat the noodles like that! since there's less water to dilute the seasoning, itll be more salty which is why yours probably came out very salty!

    Probably hard water inside the kettle. Could have also been mold if you never rinsed it out and allowed it to dry. If it wasn't cleaned often enough and left always wet...mold could have formed. That's why I never use those kettles. Would only use glass (to be able to see)...or just heat water in a pot.

    Hi! The instruction manual tells you how to clean your kettle. You need to do it monthly, or when is a small layer if stone/limescale forms. It's really easy. Mine works like that: in a jug I dissolve citric acid in that much water that is the minimal amount you can boil in your kettle. Mine is half a liter. I use a teaspoon for that. I stir until every citric acid granule is dissolved. I boil the water, and leave it in 5-15 minutes.* You rinse the kettle under running water and you boil the kettle with full water twice.
    If the whole kettle is limescaled: you pour more water (until the top line) after 5 minutes of letting it to dissolve. You this after I put the * symbol. You boil again, and rinse the same way I wrote above. It works like a charm.
    For the outside I use a microfiber cloth, with just water. Almost every day, but at least weekly. If it's too dirty you can use bicarbonate of soda in the water, just a bit. Works for most surfaces.

You can either bring it to a boil again or just pour out the citric water (you can reuse it to clean your shower head or tap) then rinse out the kettle a few times with clean water

    1) buy a brita pitcher, the filter helps a bit with the lime.
    2) clean the kettle every 2-4 weeks, half a cup to a cup of regular vinegar with water (some add baking soda I don’t)- boil and let sit for several minutes. Remove water, repeat of necessary.

    To keep your kettle clean:
    1. Fill your kettle with water
    2. Add 1 tablespoon of citric acid
    3. Boil kettle
    4. Empty and rinse kettle
    5. Fill kettle with clean water and boil again, discard that water and you will have a super clean kettle with 0 limescale

    a really good tip to clean your kettle is to put a teaspoon of citric acid in it as well as the water and boil it one time. After that you rinse it once more with water and you're done - clean kettle. If it got a lot of lime you might want to repeat the process.
    btw. I hope it's called "lime" - English isn't my first language but in German it's called "Kalk"
    it also works with white vinegar but it takes longer since you have to let it sit there for 20-30 minutes after boiling. So personally I prefer the citric acid method :)

    As a fellow anxiety veteran, the pause at stumbling block was relatably funny because I'm doing that throughout day for the past month or so. I need to go see a doctor soon, I'm going to get a stroke I guess 😄. Some periods in the day I'm entirely a bumbling stock, so to speak 😄
    Luckily, I have a desk job with no need for frequent verbal communication, so people don't see how I am falling apart and piecing myself together throughout the day.🤫 You have to keep working on it, and while that adds an extra burden on daily life, reducing the number and types of things you can do, it cannot deny you happiness and tranquility. Silence and quiet are the best medicine for me, while the rest of the world gets drunk on adrenaline.

    It was probably Limescale/hard water build up. Used filtered water! I have a Brita Kettle and it doesn’t really get Limescale in it.

    You probably have hard water, so there is a calcium buildup that can kind of look like mold. If you can, use only distilled water in your kettle and don’t keep excess water in it when you’re not using it. Every month or so (depending on how much you use it) bring to a boil 50/50 water and white vinegar a few times and then give it a scrub. It’s a pain, but it’s worth it.

    Get a bottle of lemon juice from Aldi or Lidl and put a few drops in and leave it in for abt 5/10 mins and it will clean the lime scale and it will be as good as new and and lemon juice bottle is like 23p
