The blade should always be you main tool of any multitool. No you are not overthinking. The blade should be more center.

I think the main question is if how often do you use the pliers. In that aspect Leatherman is the better option. If you not use the pliers every similar tool is better in the victorinox. Even the warranty 25 years vs lifetime.

Good point on the pliers and the warranty. Both are great options, but you can't beat lifetime warranty. 👍

I'd like to see you test either SwissTool. I've heard very good things about them and perhaps better than the Surge

It goes against the idea of a multi tool system. If you need this many tools just get a tool box
