    Greetings!
I've had the Work Champ for 7 years and I must say it is the most awesome tool!!!
I remember when I was alone after my Parents passed away, I packed up all the cutlery and stuff since I felt I did't need it at the time...When I got married, I unpacked some of the things but forgot to unpack the knives. In our first morning when I was making breakfast for my Wife, I could'nt find a knife, so I Washed the Work Champ blade and made jam and buttered toasts with it and peeled and cut an apple with it for Her! 😅
Over the years I've used most of its tools routinely, like the screw drivers to open and fix things around the house like the washing machine, heater, fans etc as both the Phillips screwdriver sizes are idea. Even have used it to open stuff in the car or used it to open and fix the water geyser a few times!
The main blade obviously gets used a lot to cut and do things like opening plastic bags and paper envelops, opening boxes etc!
I've used the files for filling plastics and other soft materials many times.
I have even used the saw to cut small wood pieces to size and for sawing PVC at times.
I've used its pliars to fix toys etc and bending small metal rods, paper clips and stuff while making things or tightening small things.
Its scissors are particularly useful and handy and routinely used to cut thread, paper, tape etc.
I always use its can opener to open cans containing sweet corn or tomatos or mushrooms etc while cooking.
I even use the cork opener to open those 3 holes on top of Coconuts to drain the juice out and drinking it!!! 😅
I have used the bottle opener a couple of times aswell over the years.
I have used the tweezers a few times to remove splinters stuck in my hand's skin and once used it to remove a small piece of glass stuck in one of my foot.
The only tool that i think I have never used is the leather awl, that tiny screwdriver in the cork opener and the plastic tooth pick!
I just love this Swiss Army Knife!
    Best Regards,
    Farrukh

111mm are very useful. The Work Champ liner lock model in particular is great. I have an older side-lock, as well as a liner lock.
The burrs will indeed come off first use.
The main blade is thicker, and stouter at the base. Thus a stronger knife. And the stainless liner lock makes the whole knife a little sturdier.
The little pliers is like a super tweezer. I do use it. It gives me strong fingertip action.

Good review, thanks! I believe the Hercules(I think discontinued) is the "smallest" at 5 layers, along with the Skipper Pro...your Workchamp is 6 layers & the Workchamp XL is at 10....the next lower tier is the Rescue Tool & the Skipper at 4 layers, still beefy...I'd use a pouch(a Nite-Ize, for example) for these, as I'd be afraid of losing it in my pocket because of its size...

I'm a bit obsessed with these things as well. The quality of the steel is high on my list of reasons.
When working as a teacher I used my swiss knife during woodwork classes a fair bit. We were making bird houses to sell to the community to raise money for the school. One time the knife folded on my thumb which caused a but of excitement, due to the amount of blood that resulted. Bit embarassing....I was supposed to be showing them what to do!
So I realised a locking version would be better and eventually got the swiss tool, which I can recommend, if you don't have one already. The blade is longer than 3 but less noticeable in a multi tool I think. I don't live in an area where I'm going to be stopped and searched anyway.
    Enjoyed the vid! Cheers.

i like the old lock better too, but the advantage here is that the liner locks 2 tools instead of just the blade.
and seeing as the other locking tool is often used as a prybar, it does seem like a useful improvement.

That’s the pinnacle in the 111 without getting the bulky XL. I prefer the locking blade because it’s safer to use. Nice review.

Hello, I stumbled across this video, and I have to say the Workchamp is amazing! I every day carry the Hercules. For me this is my favorite toolset on a SAK. The next would probably be the Handyman. I love the 111mm for the size of the handle in my hand. My Hercules is clipped to my right pocket, via a Nite Ize small S-Biner. This method allows me to carry the Hercules in a sideways orientation, without it twisting about at the top at the top of my pocket. The Hercules is probably the thickest I would go(or want to) for a SAK. I also love the fact that with 111mm SAK's, the split ring and clip mechanism is out of the way for most of the tools on the SAK, unlike on the 91mm tools. That is a very cool trick to know the Leatherman Bit driver attachment will work, thanks for sharing.

I'm in Edinburgh and Go Outdoors has had a decent selection of Vics, Gerbers,Leathermans in the past and I once bought a lovely Helle fixed blade there, also the Angling Centre next door has knives for sale in the gun shop. But as you said it's always cheaper online! Just wish we could trade on Ebay in the Uk🙁

They call it a remer. It isn't an awl unless it has a hole. I can only guess the remer is stronger without a hole.

Greetings from across the great pond! Great video and as an owner of both the Workchamp and Hercules With Both Lock types, I also prefer the side lock. Main reason being that it's lighter. That's either in a sheath, or in the back pocket. Plus it "snaps" better when opened compared to the liner lock. Although the side lock models were once superfluous, they're beginning to dry up now, especially here in the states. Although you can get them from most points east, as in Russia for the moment...

i imported the workchamp XL from Heidi's shop, Switzerland. Somehow, Malaysian distributor didnt bring this in. The tax is high (35% of the gross value including shipping). Anyway, i love it. the tools are great and no need to talk about the quality since its a SAK.

Great review Sir. I have the same model of Outrider that you show in the video. It has been my favourite travel knife for years but now I have to be careful if travelling in Europe due to the longer, locking blade. I now have an Explorer to carry in countries with restrictive laws (here in Canada all Swiss Army knives are OK to carry). The other day I was replacing a doorknob on my garden shed door and used only the Outrider as my tool. This got me thinking that something like the Swiss Champ, the Work Champ or the Hercules would be extremely handy for many of these small and ad hoc jobs around the house. Rather than digging out full size tools, just grabbing one of these knives seems very convenient. I am leaning toward the Work Champ because of the size, the locking blade and the 2 in line Phillips screwdrivers. The only difference I can spot between the Work Champ and the Hercules is that the Work Champ also has the metal file/saw which likely is actually more useful to me around the house than the wood saw. I think I just sold the Work Champ to myself ... LOL :-) I have several Swiss Army knives of all sizes (over a dozen knives) but I do not consider myself a collector ... I use them all. Which one I carry depends on where I am going or what I plan to do. I love the variety ! Ingenious little contraptions :-)

Another Canuck here. I also have the older Outrider and carry it in my pocket or in a belt pouch. Being a lefty I like the main blade being on the right. Years ago one of the "Swiss" brands had a "Lefties" model with the nail cuts on the opposite side.

Another good reason for Scotland to become independent: get rid of those ridiculous knife laws. You can't avoid knife attacks with laws, because those who attack don't give a s**t about laws. All these laws are good for is preventing honorable law abiding people from making legal usage of safety features like locks and risking injury. Cutting bread or filet fish etc with a medium 91mm blade feels just wrong.

    • @scotsman7626
      @scotsman7626  ปีที่แล้ว +1

You can't be serious? Scotland has much worse knife laws than the rest of the UK, we literally have a knife regester in Scotland, the rest of the UK doesn't, and knife dealers are required to apply to local councils for a knife dealers licence and pay £500 for a license that last 3 years. England doesn't have this to the best of my knowledge.
However you are right, you cannot provent horrible attacks useing laws, locks are indeed safety features, and demonising them no sense, especially when cars have to have seat belts, table saws need to have crown guards, chainsaws must be fitted with a chain break, all safety features.

    • @Brayne01
      @Brayne01 ปีที่แล้ว

@@scotsman7626 wow, I admit I didn't know about these Scottish laws - so you are too independent already, at least when it comes to knives 🤣

On my saw when I first got a 111 mm Victorinox had the same thing. Just take a ceramic rod and knock off the birds or cut through some wood. We’ll get it all off nothing to be worried about.
