Nick mate, the reason why the decals go wrinkly when you lacquer them is because whoever you buy them from probably uses an enamel based lacquer to finish them off before selling them and the acrylic lacquer you use reacts with them, why not try making your own and finish them with the acrylic car lacquer yourself? You have a good printer, they won’t crinkle up then. 😉👍
Hi Bob, I hope you and your good lady are ok. I never thought of them using enamel lacquer as being the reason for the decals to go wrinkly, that would explain some going wrinkly and some not, I do now make most of my own decals and stickers, it’s just that these had gold in them which I couldn’t print hence the reason for buying the decals in the first place…..twice in the end lol🤦🏻♂
Cheers mate, all the best, Nick😊👍🐸🐸
Hi Nick, really great job you’ve done. I have made transfers printed on paper and I just cover them with clear sellotape instead of laquering them. Always enjoy your videos 👍
Thank you my friend, good idea for transfers, glad you are enjoying my videos and thank you for watching them.👍😊🐸🐸
After a few years of use, those railings would never have been straight anyway, so the overall result is much more realistic than the toy: 10/10 on a tricky restoration. I'd be happy with it! Neat!
Thank you Fraser, now that’s a good excuse about the railings that I never thought of lol👍👍🐸🐸
Brilliant restoration, mate, lovely finish, and decails are fantastic wee float looks great, thank you for video.
Paul ☘️ ☘️
Thank you Paul, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching😊👍 All the best, Nick🐸🐸
Looks gorgeous Nick ,fantastic work ,brilliant finish
Thank you Laz👍😊🐸🐸
An idea for your windows...pledge floor polish in a white bottle. It goes on milky but dries clear. If your not sure try on an old one as it works for me. You can brush it on or airbrush Any questions please get in touch :)
Thank you Simon, unfortunately the pledge won’t make a lot of difference to these reproduction screens, I do use it quite often when I have cleaned up original window units, it gives them a shine but they need to be clear to start with.👍😊
Hi Nick, I'm certainly glad I've seen this one. I've got the same model to do myself. What a fiddley model, so I'm very glad for the tips , but as usual, you've done an excellent job very well done, and thanks .
Thank you Mark, I hope this video helps you to do yours, don’t do your decals like I did though lol🤦🏻♂🤣😂 Good luck with your restoration, all the best, Nick🐸🐸
Hello Nick another great restoration great paint work hope you and your family are keeping well regards Glyn
Hi Glyn and thank you, all good here thanks, I hope you and your Family are well too, all the best, Nick🐸🐸
Great job, Nick, very crisp lines. 👍🏻
Thank you Chris 👍😊🐸🐸
Beautiful restoration Nick you got there in the end such a tricky model to do anyway looks amazing well done 👍.
Thank you Adrian👍😊🐸🐸
That's a cracking little model Nick, I haven't got any Spot On models they seem to be more expensive than Dinky and Corgi, but wow, they look great. The D reg number plate you used was 1966. I remember going to Liverpool Wholesale Market years ago delivering mushrooms at 5am and these little electric milk floats were out in their hundreds all around Liverpool. Looking forward to your next restoration, take care, and all the best to you both. Peter.
Cheers Peter, yes the spot on modes always go very expensive, thanks to David Yeates I now have this one😊👍 Thanks for the info on the reg I used. We used to have quite a few electric milk floats here in Jersey, a pain in the arse when you got stuck behind them and often they ran out of power on the way back to the dairy as there were quite a few hills for them to go up🤦🏻♂🤔
Take care, all the best, Nick🐸🐸
very nice finished job Nick, congrats on your first spot on pity it put up a fight , I have two of these to do for a mate and I learned a lot watching thanks for showing us 👍👍
Thank you, glad the video was of help, I learned quite a bit doing this one too👍😊🐸🐸
Enjoyed watching you struggle with that Nick😀rare casting, never seen one of those before, shame about the decals, I find adding a dash of washing up liquid to the water helps break down the surface tension of the water and it also acts as a lubricant to help slide the decals off the backing paper. Look forward to your next one, cheers Kev..
Thank you Mr P. It’s good to have a struggle now and again it keeps one on one’s toes lol, I was annoyed with myself for messing up that decal, entirely my fault but there you go, I suppose these things happen lol, I will have a go at putting a bit of of fairy liquid next time, Cheers for the tip😊👍 All the best, Nick🐸🐸
Very nice job Nick👍
Thank you Bill👍😊🐸🐸
Great work Nick as usual, keep up the good work, all the best, Bob in oz.
Thank you Bob, glad you enjoyed the video👍😊All the best, Nick🐸🐸
Great outcome Nick Cheers Michael
Thank you Michael, all the best, Nick🐸🐸
It looks real good
Thank you👍😊🐸🐸
Wow Nick i got one of these about 2years ago been putting it off an till now im going to put it right to the back of the cupboard now 🤣 . It look like it was going to be easy ive had 3or4 spot on model but only done 1 so far a Thames Trader its a firm my dad work on in the 60s , i used to stand up in the footwell as a kid .
Take care Nick
Oh no, my videos are supposed to be encouraging people to restore models not putting them off😂😂🤣🤣 I reckon with all those excellent code 3’s you’ve been doing the milk float will be a walk in the park for you😊👍👍
All the best, Nick.
Great one this time nick them bars were a pain a1 resto all the best steve
Thank you Steve👍😊🐸🐸
Very smart restoration nick, a bit fiddly this one but you managed it and it turned out brilliant shame about the decal, I have damaged decals myself in one way or another so your not alone 😢 I have one to do from David iam thinking chains not bars whatsoever you reckon .
All the best Martin 👍
Thank you Martin, it was entirely my fault with the decal, I didn’t leave it long enough before I lacquered it, trying to get too much done all at once and it ended up taking twice as long lol🤦🏻♂ Chains would be ok or maybe make some bars instead of the repro ones, good luck with the restoration when you do it whatever you decide, I look forward to that video😊👍 All the best,, Nick🐸🐸
Hi Nick you have done a brilliant job 👏👏👏👍 and yes they can be a bit tricky to do. Would you like me to send you another one in the express dairies for you do .
All the best
David
Thank you David, glad you like it, I guess you have done a couple of these before😉😊 I was a bit disappointed with the repro window unit but I think most of the repro windows are a bit like that now, the ones that I have bought anyway, but I did really enjoy doing this one and I was quite pleased with the end result. I would love to do one in the other livery if you have another that is going spare, I would be very grateful and thank you for the offer, it is very kind of you, I said to my Mrs when I had just finished this one that I must look out for another one to do it in the express Dairies colours. Many thanks again, all the best, Nick👍😊🐸🐸
@@crapaudnicksdiecastrenovat1739 no problem Nick leave it with me
ernie will be very happy in that now nick
Lol, I hope so 🤔😉😁👍🐸🐸
Ca Va Mon V . for them over here, the number plates used to run numbers and letters. Then in 1963 it started three letters, numbers and a letter at the end. So starting 1963 as A , that plate you have is would have bene from august 1966 to August 1967.
Thank you for the info Mon V I didn’t have a clue how that all worked over the other side, now you’ve explained I’ve got to try and remember ay 🤔👍😁🐸🐸
A wonderful job Nick. My kids have never saw a milkfloat in action, they would fit in with todays green recycle trend perfectly. Just a thought on the bars, are they upside down?. Best wishes from Ian B & family.
Thank you Ian, I remember getting stuck behind the milk floats here in Jersey a few times, they were pretty slow, we were all glad when they gave up using them lol. I did try the bars the other way but they didn’t fit any better, ah well repro parts eh🤦🏻♂All the best, Nick🐸🐸
Hiya, great job on this.I have a few spot ons but never seen this one. may i also ask where you get your new parts from please.
Thank you Simon, I usually get my parts from model supplies model-supplies.co.uk/
They also have an ebay shop but it’s cheaper to by from their website! 😊🐸🐸
Great job... spots on ... Is that part of dinky toys or??
Thank you, no not part of dinky toys, spot on we’re made by Triang.
