Ok. I just started on your channel and have a few comments/ critiques. First, your Love for any type of fishing is clearly apparent. Your sound quality is really good and makes the video easy on the ears. What I like best is that you are genuinely happy when others catch fish and or accomplish something. Well done overall. Keep up the good work. Fishing is hard, hard work and making it constantly look fun is not easy. Thank you for your hard work.
Drop that rod you drop our friendship. Hahaha. Gotta steal that one. That’s a great line. Love seeing your sub #’s climbing too. Keep up the good stuff.
I work on a long line boat most of our catch is tuna some swordfish but most of money nowadays comes from tuna the reason the tuna looks so bright red in the grocery store is because they gas it with carbon dioxide not monoxide dioxide and that's what gives it that bright red look and it'll stay like that long after it's good to eat but don't let it fool you it don't mean it's fresh
Great job man, glad to see you guys on the videos, and your right you can make the poke bowls hundred different ways. All good as long as fish is fresh like you said. Keep it up brother, hope business opens up and gets cranking for you soon.
Appreciate it! they never get old for us we eat them all the time, are constantly try and adding new things to them! Me too, just trying to take advantage of my down time!
What a nice days out I have difficulty hooking those tunas in schools on the surface..that jigs seem to do the job i tried to get them on line but on the info that you left below but apparently they are not taking online orders. thank you for sharing I love your channel and my wife the cooking too
They can be picky sometimes! this school was just very fired up and were in a feeding frenzy! Yea they get pretty backed up sometimes the jigs are very popular down here because they work so well!
You're right, sesame oil is like pure vanilla. I just made this today, so, here's the recipe. 550 gram tuna, 90 gram mayo, 30 g minced red onion, 10 g minced scallion greens, 30 g soy, 70 g siracha, avocado, sesame oil to taste.
Poke looks really good. You can try adding Togarashi Seasoning (not too much), sweet yellow onions, and Wakame (edible seaweed). I also like to make a dipping sauce that I either mix with my white rice or cover/dip the tuna. Either Spicy Mayo (Japanese Mayo with Sriracha 50/50 split) or "my secret sauce"( KimChee Base, Sriracha, Honey, Togarashi/ Japanese 7 spice).
Funny I just watched a video of a guy that caught an 18lb black fin and he had about half the amount of fish after u cleaned it all up. Bleeding the fish helps out so much when it comes to tuna.
I 110% agree with bleeding the fish right away esp tuna. I’ve had tuna before that wasn’t bleed and the bloodline in the fish is at least twice as big possibly even more.
Ponzu sauce instead of soy sauce. They sell it at Publix. Add more green onion and the white part of the green onion. Jalapeño too. And red chili’s. No seeds in the peppers. Finley chopped red onion. The rice. Hit it with rice wine vinegar. Recipe on bottle. They sell at Publix. Makes the rice so much better.
There you go having fun again I'm sure you're going to get criticized for that from somebody but yeah y'all look like y'all having a good time and you catching one of the best fish in the ocean blackfin tuna man oh man what a blessing y'all have fun and enjoy the meal and enjoy the day
yes they changed it to 2 per person recently! we got our 10 and everyone took home 2 tunas. and im not sure! has been slow here as well they should have definitely showed up by now!
we honestly just hunt any kind of structure in the Bluewater, deep ledges or wrecks, BIG floating debris if we are lucky enough to find them. Just like any fishing its never a guarantee, some days for float for hours and hours and never see a single wahoo. persistence always pays! unfortunately wahoo spearing season is over for us down here!
It's pretty damn hard to beat fresh blackfin!!! I make my sauce with the first 8 ingredients first then add tuna and mix. Put your rice in a bowl add tuna, sesame seeds, green onion then sliced avocado. I also like black rice in my poke! It's tasty with just chips and a drizzle of sriracha on top! 1-tablespoon finely chopped shallots 2-tablespoons mayo 1-tablespoon honey 2-teaspoons spicy chile paste 1-tablespoon gochujang 1-teaspoon ish of sesame oil 1-teaspoon ish of soy sauce 1-teaspoon wasabi paste 1lb ish of fresh tuna 1 avocado Salt pepper white and black sesame seeds to taste
Contact Kico's place key west on instagram or can give them a call, they are often sold out! Everyone down here uses them! there's a link in the description of this vid for them!
Looked pretty good to me, was that sushi rich? If not that’s probably only thing I would change and as I’ve said in my other comment I should try leaving the tuna in the fig rapped in paper tower and plastic rap for 2-3 days. 95% of fish is better the fresher it is but tuna is one of a few fish that it’s better after a few days in the fig. Give it a try next time u have tuna or wahoo.
It may sound silly but it's really nice to see a gentle release of a fish, a proper release, rather than throwing the fish in the air when released. Just sayin' . Good on you!
Hello from California! New sub here. Love how you started the day "serious fishing" for swordfish. Ended up on tuna with laughs all around the boat. Lots a fun! Love your channel. You got something special here. Wishing you 10k subs and beyond.
Welcome! haha thats why I love fishing! we thought we were going home empty handing everyone down and out and that day completely turned around! Glad you enjoy the channel and thanks for tuning in! lots more to come hope you stay tuned! thanks a lot!
New subscriber! Try adding rice vinegar, salt, and sugar (if you have access to kombu, its adds a nice depth) to your rice to make sushi rice. It's my go-to when we catch tuna or bonito (out of SoCal). Takes your poké to a whole other level! There's a recipe on Serious Eats that's a nice resource: www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2010/07/sumeshi-vinegared-sushi-rice.html Keep it up, man! You're destined for TH-cam success!
Dayyum.... 🇬🇧 🎣 - only 3 tuna ever seen and probably never caught and chicks in leggings, sweaters and jackets -v- 🇺🇸 🎣 - tuna as far as the eye can see and chicks in 👙..... is there any room in the keys for one more?
U should try drying the fish off completely then rapping the meat in paper towers and plastic rap for 48-72 hours. I know people talk about eating fresh fish only hours old and all that but tuna actually taste way better when u let the meat cure for a few days.
Key West Waterman I don’t know y but I find myself falling down the rabbit whole and end up watching over a dozen videos of people filleting fish. I’ve learned some really great ways to process fish and that’s where I found out about the aging process of tuna. In Japan after they process the fish they dry it off completely then rap it in paper towers and plastic rap and put it in the frig for 2-3 days. I’ve tried it and I’ve actually noticed a big difference, it’s definitely more tender and the flavor is enhanced.
As a fellow fisherman...best line: you drop that rod, you drop our friendship! LOL! Love it!!!
Haha! I love it!
Great video, thank you for your time and work making it.
thank you for watching and sharing!

hahah right!

haha thats wild!
Great videos you should try Tupat’s Hawaiian island poke sauce made in New Smyrna Bch.
Thanks for watching! and I love trying new sauces! gonna order me a bottle! I grew up in Titusville, spent a lot of time surfing in new smyrna beach!
I 110% agree with bleeding the fish right away esp tuna. I’ve had tuna before that wasn’t bleed and the bloodline in the fish is at least twice as big possibly even more.
Yes! its a major key in quality and freshness!
Awesome as always. Keep it coming. Is that canal right behind your house were u cleaned the tuna?

Y’all slayed ⚔️ the tunas!👏🏻👏🏻. Looked like a boatload of fun😂😂

That looks like a lot of fun. One of the small tunas could be awesome live bait for a marlin or bigger tuna.

Key West Waterman 🧜♂️ Love the Spearfishing Videos that is really cool
Nice video! What's the limit now 2 fish per person? Where's the mahi? Seems kinda slow so far. Usually killing them by this time in central florida.
yes they changed it to 2 per person recently! we got our 10 and everyone took home 2 tunas. and im not sure! has been slow here as well they should have definitely showed up by now!
Man I can’t wait to move back there
its a wonderful place!
On the job Training it doesn't get any better than that..:-)
haha amen to that!
Would like to know where and how you find wahoo to spearfish them!

Korean bar-b-q sauce, siracha, sesame oil, and mayo. Try that mixture for your poke. Let me know how it comes out.

Try a little ponzu in it also.
I normally do! put ponzu on everything lol, tweak my recipes a little each time depending on the mood!
