Aaron, I have been diving since the 1960's and stopped last year when I hit 74. During that time I have never had anyone explain, in words and pictures, the proper techniques of getting cheeks and collars off a grouper, let alone your other instructions for cleaning fish without messing up a good fish. Great training material for a diver AND a fisherman. You have a great nack for explaining how to do things. Your natural casual manner really comes across. You could incorporate a lot of your videos into training material. As a fellow Floridian, Thanks for doing what you do!

In Hawaii, what you call “nerving” we call “spining”. Same same. Hitting the spine, paralyzing the fish, but not killing it. Great vid! 🤙🏼

Assume the shaft at 22 min was SS. When shooting caves in Anegada in the 80's I bought 2 brittle spring steel shafts and snapped both shooting dog snapper in caves. SS bends, spring steel snaps. Also jewfish in the 60's rig diving we used SS. We always had wavy shafts from re straightening. Just finished my book 60 years of spearfishing. Spearing Mag will have some chapters and also help me find a publisher. You have amazing spearfishing for 2022. Many places shot out from overfishing and in Mexico and Panama commercial greed and no enforcement.

Kinda of hard to explain, but I always bleed fish, by going under the gills at the bottom. Behind the head and bottom of the gills- just slice that , hitting that artery that your shown. And while gutting I slice all the way up to the head. Sometimes when you pull the guts out, the gills come with it. I do this with fresh and saltwater fish. Especially freshwater trout, clean and gut as soon as possible. Beautiful Pompano 👍 ATB .
