Been around a lot of great fishermen in the mid 90's like Tim Maddock probably the best tourney fisherman in S Florida history. Learned a lot from him and a friend of his back then. He had a 27 ft Conch at that time, great boat. You take this to another level with what you do. Out west having fun traveling and watching over an old friend but went back to the keys last winter for 7 months to take care of another friend who needed my help. Brought back my love of that area, hoping to be back within another year or two. . Unfortunately 8 days after taking his second vax he died on the bathroom floor. I argued with his doctor and nurses not to get it.On a lighter note I saved all my fishing equipment would love to buy a Cat or a sailboat when we get back to travel around in. Great job love this channel. People don't realize how tough the fishing life can be, I know how hard you work.. Thank you for sharing.

I need wahoo in my life, what a fish... sadly we don’t get them in the UK, but the UK waters are warming and we’re starting to see yellow fin and blue fin and we’re expecting to see at least 20 new shark species in the next decade, who knows... we could have wahoo then too.... awesome vid champ, I am well envious

I've made great flasher Daisy chains out of old CDs. There's lots of them and they're very cheap. You can pick up hundreds of them at garage sales 4 pennies.
Yea I see CDs used quite often! I just tend to use my gear extremely hard so I go with stuff that last a little longer, the CDs tend to break quickly in my possession lol! the "murk crew" flasher sets I use last forever!

That's awesome to see them schooled up like that. I never get to see them underwater. What is that reflective daisy chain you hang down in the water? Seems to attract them well. Are they just hookless drone spoons or something?
Lenny McMillion they are probably the coolest fish I’ve ever seen in the water. Gets my heart racing everytime! We just call them flasher. No hooks, anything reflective works just fine!

I got a question about bluewater hunting hope you can answer. How do you determine where is a good spot to stop your boat and jump into the water and set up your flasher? It's just open blue water without any structure... do you use fishfinder? If you don't have a fishfinder how do you do it, just by looking at the blue ocean all round you?
No we almost always are hunting some type of structure, a pinnacle, a deep ledge or wreck, or a big floater on the surface. On rare occasions if the blue water is pushed out we will drift the color changes! patience is key with blue water, many days we don't see a single fish.

Super pumped about all the new content & I plan on checking out on your channel over the next few days. Gotta admit, the catch/clean/cooks really add a whole other element to the videos, so make sure you clean em' and cook em' for us to see as often as you can!
Anyway - quick question Aaron... it seems like in a lot of your blue water spearing videos you mention different "spots" you hunt on. Aside from seeing a bunch of debris/weed/flotsam and jumping in under it, what makes a good spot to shoot pelagic fish? Like do all your spots stay the same, IE - you go back to the same numbers day after day, week after week, because those numbers happen to have a big hump under them or is it always just because you see something floating and that makes it a spot to check out (which I'm sure you do obviously)? really appreciate that and ill check him out for sure! we normally are frequenting the same spots, which some type of structure, a deep ledge or wreck, a nice hump. but mainly looking for bait and lots of life. fish gotta eat! A big floater is great too if you can find em!
Man I love your videos. I do a lot of spearfishing on the gulf coast but mainly for red snapper, AJ and flounder. I come down to the Keys for two weeks every summer the week before and the week of the mini season. I'm interested in shooting some grouper and hogs. Do you captain charter trips? I mainly spear on scuba, but I do some freediving. Thanks for the content.

just keep at it! and it will happen! and they are typically around 30-40 ft but I tell people I recommend being a 60 ft diver so you have time to operate at the 40 ft range if that makes sense.

haha, I hope not! I have been diving my entire life. we have a pretty good sense of when its safe and when its time to get out of dodge. not saying its impossible, but we dive smart and watch each others backs so we can go home the same way we came out!

What’s the traditional school of thought in terms of strategy to keep sharks from taking that out of your hands as you’re swimming up to the boat woth it?
Theres no exact answer for that unfortunately, its different every time, if the sharks are aggressive we often work together to fend them off while one person fights the fish, once you get the fish in your hands the sharks typically leave you alone.
I would imagine that would be pretty damn intense.

When your shooting wahoo do you guys always have one gun on a float? Can you just let the boat fetch the spear on the float?
typically always use a float set up on wahoo, sometimes will shoot them with a reel gun, but prefer to use a float. and no you want to stay with them yourself, you don't know how good of a shot it is or if there are sharks
