    Dear Galeazzo,
    I am always impressed and my compliments are probably sounding repetitive to you but as someone who was alive and very young during this time I have to let you know how much I love your videos. This is one of my fav songs. I love the early Beatles. It was so exciting and powerful. Nothing like it before. It was like belonging to something magic. Your explanations are things I always tried to hear on the records, before the stereo versions.
    So for me this is dream come true.
    I would love if Paul and Ringo would comment on your analysis. This is a very serious and important device to teach the world about how the music was made. Many millions of us want to know. That is why any song that comes out regardless of what it is sells today. We are starving for Beatles music/information.
    So thank you so much.
    I am a sincere fan of yours.

    This is like watching Einstein demonstrate how "easy" it is to calculate special relativity. The more I watch, the more in awe I am of your gift. I'm also humbled by the certainty that I'll never come close to reproducing the beauty that emanates from your instrument.

    Galeazzo, I knew about the single note Paul sings in harmony, but all the little details and the G# are mind-boggling. This is a real gift you bring us. Who would know without your help? Thank you, bro. Love it. When we used to do this in the 60's it was all so simple. NOT! :)

    Awesome work. So often I watch these and realize that Paul and John's vocal lines are put together so well that I had the melody wrong the whole time. What the main chorus line was my head is actually a blend of John and Paul.

    This combines a few favorite things, the Beatles, a guy with a fabulous voice, and breaking things down in an easy to follow manner that fascinates me no end. I've loved the Beatles always but you demonstrate the talent they had that I didn't even realize, and your own awesome talent.

    This is a great demonstration of the vocal brilliance of the Beatles. There is a reason that Wings could never approach the vocal heights of the Beatles and it is simply because John and George were not in the band.

    Again, we see how deceptively brilliant the Beatles were, even in their early 20's. I find it very interesting and enlightening that Galeazzo points out how Paul had an incredible talent to compliment John's vocals. I listened many many times to Please Please me, but I could never get the third harmony right.

    Your tutorials always give me a new appreciation for the Beatles. John's vocal here gets very tricky at times, hitting falsetto highs, then dropping into the alto part. People who only know the Beatles music casually assume that Paul always took the high parts but John sometimes took the highest notes. He had a great range.

  • @mickavellian

    Oh so NICE to see you again my friend. You mention the facility of Paul singing harmonies and keep his part dynamic adapting the harmonies on the spot) to John's quirky ,and sometimes massive string of surprises when they played live. That is why I LOVE Paul keeping the mother hen role and anything that got derailed , and nod to Ringo to recover the track SMASH on track.

    Once again Galeazzo's infallible ear is a blessing to Beatles devotees everywhere. All the books say George Martin was not all that impressed with the boys at first blush. How could this be given the sophistication they showed here? It's almost as if the boys sprung fully formed with this one amazing recording. I wonder if Martin helped them with their harmonies at first.

    • @TheBeatlesVocalHarmony
      @TheBeatlesVocalHarmony  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve I think the achieved, especially Paul, a great ability in harmonizing during the Hambug years and then George Martin came up to refine them in case there were complicated harmonies that required very skilled intervent.

    Great job! What's amazing about this song is it was only their 2nd outing on record, following up Love Me Do, and yet it in my mind it already contains every element that was soon to make tunes like She Loves You and I Wanna Hold Your Hand big hits- the energy, excitement, vocal harmonies, catchy guitar lick and the trick of all the voices and instruments cutting out completely for a split second before kicking back in- in this case right at the end of the verses, just before George's guitar figure leads into the chorus- later on you can hear the same trick in She Loves You, All My Loving, Can't Buy Me Love etc. This is a WAY under-rated song in the Beatles catalogue!

    On some versions, the stereo mix I’ve been told, John got the third verse wrong. When my band performed this song in the seventies we included the mistake, “Why do you never even try girl” but we never told anyone, until now anyway. I have seen videos of McCartney and his band, and I believe I have heard them do the same.

    • @benmerliss7702
      @benmerliss7702 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's interesting. It's true that lyrical flub you're referring to was on the stereo mix. On the mono mix (which you should hear if you haven't already) the lyric is sung correctly.

    Caro Gaetano,innanzi tutto grazie per i meravigliosi video che ci regali di volta in volta, non solo accuratissimi ma pieni di una passione che può caratterizzare solo un grandissimo fan dei Beatles. Faccio parte di una band di cinquantenni che da poco più di tre mesi ha intrapreso le prove per uno spettacolo incentrato esclusivamente sui nostri beniamini,dal 1960 al 1970, ripercorrendo le tappe più salienti dell'immenso catalogo musicale a disposizione. Siamo in tre, fra poco 4 (anche il batterista ha un'ottima voce) a cantare, e ci alterniamo nei vari brani. Vocalmente, Please Please Me é sempre stata ostica da eseguire a tre, per i motivi che tu hai più volte sottolineato nel tuo video. Abbiamo provato più versioni, compresa quella che Paul McCartney effettua in qualche data dei suoi tour, e che é molto bella ma con armonizzazioni non come l'originale in studio.Avremmo una domanda da porti: unendo le tre linee vocali da te indicate singolarmente, il risultato non é del tutto convincente. Nel verso "Please Please me whoa yeah...",all'inizio la voce di Paul e quella di John si incrociano con delle note all'unisono, e lo stesso dicasi per il "like i Please you", con la voce di John e di George. È proprio così nel disco con le tracce separate? Grazie in anticipo. Ci piacerebbe metterti nei crediti delle nostre date, che si effettueranno solo nei teatri, sempre con il tuo permesso. A presto. Giò

    It is amazing to hear the technical explanations of how they do what they did, but knowing them well know that all that was instinctive.

    • @ZoeTheCat
      @ZoeTheCat 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. I've grappled with that exact thought. John, Paul & George didn't think about it technically. Their ears/brains just instinctively KNEW what to do. It's one thing to have that innate ability to compose. It's another thing to be able to actually produce it. Our Italian host here definitely has the pipes, but I think he's equally in awe of how their brains just knew how to compose it.

      Well said. Galeazzo has analyzed what most of us have taken for granted for so many years, broken it down and lovingly recreated these amazing harmonies so now, we can finally appreciate the true (and apparently) effortless genius of the Beatles. If anyone doubts how unique their sound was, I challenge them to try to duplicate it. I've tried and it is nearly impossible. Thank you for all your efforts!!
