As soon as my job lets me work 100% remote, this place is numero uno for moving.

Because we prefer warmer temps & less wind, we settled right on the Siuslaw in Mapleton & we ❤ it!

We still live in Eugene, for now, but about six years ago we bought a small (700sf) home with a small lot in Florence for 95k. We love it there! We can be at the beach in about five minutes, there's lots to do and great food all over the place. The nice thing about the casino is, it's back off the road and not visible from the road.

Just be easy. It gets sketchy on the backstreets after dark. Visit the Arbetorium (the Arboretum) then go across the street and grab some crunchy catfish.

    • @steveearnshaw5426

Wrong state. Florence does not have an arboretum and no catfish.

@@steveearnshaw5426 the Arboretum is a marijuana dispensary off Hwy 101 and you get the crunchy catfish across the street at the gas station! You stand corrected Steve.

Ah..gotta love it when facts offend people who just want to be in their FEELINGS.
Every Demoncrat ran city, county and state is in shambles in some way. Either poverty, rampant drug problems, no good paying jobs, run down environment.
For the life of me, I can't figure out why people vote Demoncrat.
      When will they ever learn!?
The reason why is...because Demoncrats allow people to do what they want with no accountability.
The hippy-lettuce purple hair weirdos and the alike love the soft Demoncrats over tolerance approach to society.
The main cause of the ruining this country. Just look at all the big cities and liberal states.
They have become cesspools of filth.
Accountability is a beotch isn't it?

I build and live in a tiny house. Would this town be tiny house friendly. I can either rent from an RV place or buy a lot.

    • @LivingOnTheOregonCoast
      @LivingOnTheOregonCoast  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, there's tons of RV parks and there are currently a handful of lots that could work for you. Send us a message if you have any questions about lots for sale. (503) 974-0567

Thanks for this video! I'm planning on traveling to Oregon in September for the first time, & Heceta Head Lighthouse is my top destination. I'm a huge lighthouse nerd, so seeing as many lights as possible is my goal! I'm a little confused as to which town actually claims Heceta though, as I've seen Yachats & Florence both consider it theirs in different books I've read.
Maybe the reason for the elevated petty thefts and minor crimes has to do with the older population? Retirees seem to always be unfairly targeted. 😕

    • @LivingOnTheOregonCoast
      @LivingOnTheOregonCoast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Heceta Head Lighthouse is technically Florence. It’s about the same distance from Florence as Yachats. You’ll probably want to check out Cape Arago Lighthouse and Yaquina Bay Lighthouse while you’re in the area. Where are you can many from?

@@LivingOnTheOregonCoast I'm from NW Ohio & have never made it to the Pacific coast, so I'm super excited! Was supposed to take this trip in May of 2020, but obviously that didn't work out. 😑 I'll be flying into Seattle & am trying to iron out my itinerary at this point. I definitely want to see Seattle, Portland, Crater Lake & then dip into California just to say I've been there. I'll then journey up the entire OR coast! There are so many things I want to see!

That would depend Bobby. If the structure is made permanent through the payment of Systems Development Charges and it meets all the requirements of Building and Fire Codes. Yes! I'd say years 2015-2016 onward the city went pretty downhill in terms of quality of living and everything. The combo of druggies flocking from the valley and random rich people from other states buying up everything here has made me really hate living here lately, makes me want to move but I can't 😢

I live there and if you like Southern Californians, this may well be your place. People are unfriendly and will stab you in the back (just like California). Not one steakhouse in the whole town and seafood is limited as there is no longer a fishing fleet here. Hard to find many things here of course, it's a small town and what is here is very expensive. With regard to the local healthcare, one nurse told me that if you want to find out what's wrong with you, you'll have to wait for the autopsy. Absolutely no good contractors here with few exceptions and of course labor is non existent. Other than that, it's wonderful here! No rush hour traffic and I like the temperate, cooler weather.

You should REALLY report the FACTS, and not try and gloss over them, so that you can benefit from being a realtor.
I have a friend who lives in Florence. Him and his wife are retired so they really aren't affected by the reality of what Florence is like; as well as Oregon as a whole.
I'm going up to Florence next spring to visit my friend for a week.
I will see first hand what it is really like. From all that I have read, Oregon is a beautiful state as far as scenery and the outdoors life.
However!... as far as living in that state. It is ran by Demoncrats, who like every other Democrat ran city county and state. It is filled with little to no good paying jobs, everything is highly taxed: which is the only real revenue that the government system can live off of the poor working class that are barely making it.
Rampant drug problems, petty theft; which the police are told to not really enforce by the Liberal government. So that problem continues to grow out of control.
Be on the receiving end of being ripped off by some lowlife scumbag who's selling your once owned item so he can buy more alcohol or drugs.
Anything stolen from you, is a very horrible vulnerable feeling.
The government and police don't think little things matter to people I guess.
Taxes are insanely high in comparison to the earnings available. No state tax, but the government makes up for that well beyond by high taxes on everything else.
Housing and rental properties are sky high. Once again higher than they should be compared to the abilities to earn wages to compensate for those high taxes.
Thus these things equate to a depressing environment. If it wasn't for the natural beauty of Oregon, it would be one of the worst states to have a nice life.
Unless you just accept living barely a hand to mouth lifestyle.
