Thanks for your review! I, personally, avoid Mo's when on the Oregon coast. I love to travel to the coast, frequently. And, there are so many wonderful places to eat fresh seafood. The food trucks are often amazing! Gold Beach has a great one! Nehalem's has a wonderful fish and chips spot! Astoria has one of the best fish and chips with a variety of fish, including tuna which is absolutely delicious!! The local chefs from food trucks to nicer restaurants know how to cook the local, fresh fish!!! 😋😁💯🤩😍

Firehouse right down the street is good chowder, get the deluxe, it’s covered in shrimp and cheese baked on top.

Next time in Florence, go to Novelli’s on the dock. Guy Ferrari says they have the best seafood chowder on the Oregon coast.

We have eaten their crab chowder many times! We love it, but I think the chowder at The Horn in Depoe Bay is better 😉

I lived in Florence, and I think you guys are being generous. Mo's has the worst seafood in Oregon. I don't think I ever met a local who liked their food, so if not for the unsuspecting tourists the place would have gone out of business long ago.

I used to make a 2 hour trip to Mo's back in the early 80's just to get their seafood. Wonderful chowder and everything was delicious. That was still when Mo's was in the old garage and Mo herself would come around and pour coffee. It seemed like the Mo's experience got less and less enjoyable after they built the first "annex" right across the street and closed the original location.

I agree 1285 Restobar does have the best clam chowder. I live in Florence and had all of them. As for the Casino it’s good too. But I really like their Calamari at Bills the best.

Next time you go to Florence, go to the Firehouse. Some of the best on the coast. If money doesn't matter, Killo's in Lincoln City.

I lived in Florence for seven years. Mo's was known as the McDonald's of Clam Chowder. Like McDonald's, Mo's was dirty and the food was very poor quality. And like McDonald's, you could literally, buy it and place it directly in the toilet. It was a place people went to once, unless they were a McDonald's patron or just a fan of bad food.

We lived in Eugene for decades and only ate at Mo's when we used their parking lot to go crabbing
Despite the questionable food, the view of the river is outstanding, and the servers very kind.
There's better seafood in town for sure

Mo's is so middle of the road, that may even be a compliment. There is sooooo much better seafood on the Oregon coast. We live in southwest Oregon.

@@bestfoodreviewroadtrip7612 From a 42 year resident of Oregon, these are some killer restaurants to put on your list for next time. Local Ocean Seafood (Newport, one of the very best in the state), Tony's Crab Shack (Bandon), Zola's by the Water (Brookings). Hukilau (Florence), Hwy 101 Burger (Lincon City), Tidal Raves (Depot Bay).

thank goodness the beer wasn't flat....did you ever put any kind of vinegar on fish & chips? i would always put malt vinegar on my long john silvers along with the tartar sauce

Mo's is definitely a go-to for many people but a lot of the food is middle of the road IMO. The clam chowder is good but I prefer the Chowder Bowl's chowder. It does depend on what you get, though. Always loved the bay shrimp sandwich and the peanut butter pie at Mo's.

I live in Florence, having retired from Seattle. Sadly, I must say that the food here leaves a bit to be desired. After the chaos of covid, the various restaurants have struggled with staffing, pricing and quality. We're paying Seattle prices for food that simply doesn't meet the same standards. I guess I got spoiled by the unparalleled quality, variety and freshness. Still, I do enjoy it here and the people are very, very friendly, one of the shortcomings of the "Seattle cool".

Mo's has really gone downhill, especially after the COVID situation. We ate there last year, in Florence, and thee was nothing good about any of the experience. Service was poor, food was mediocre, place was not as clean as it has been in the past - so pretty much done with Mo's. We can get much better meals elsewhere, for the same price, or slightly more, which I am willing to pay if the food is quality and service is good. Too bad, as Mo's used to be the place. Tourists just have not figured it out.

Sea food on the coast is mostly deceiving, you expect its local fresh fish. Mostly not. Your getting mostly frozen commercially available off the back of the Sysco truck fish, fries and bagged soup. There are some rare places that do serve the best local fish but your not getting actual quality out of season. Crab season if you can afford $30-50/lb crab is amazing. Stick w the local rockfish, as any salmon you get is dyed Atlantic frozen crap, unless your paying $45-65 per plate for Chinook from up north. Oysters are not a local item in most of Oregon. Don't waste your time, I've actually been served Jared oysters on a clam shell as fresh on the half shell. Beware of small towns on busy weekends. They never have enough stock or help.

    I thought it said, "OH."
I used to live in Kentucky and my bf's people lived in Ohio. That'd be a weird seafood review.
But my family live(d) in Newport, very close to Florence & this Mo's. I'm pretty sure I've been, but I'm also pretty sure I can't remember a damn thing about the food!
    This review is bizarre.
