  • Every since my bike was fixed after being backed into ive had a sort of oscillating humming noise that seems to be coming from the right side. i noticed it at about 350 miles. which was after the fact i had the damage fixed by the place i bought the bike. since then i have put over 700 miles on the bike and it seems to be getting louder. i can hear it from 50 yards away if someone else is riding the bike. The place i bought it said they called Polaris and Polaris told them the noise is normal. I know it's not, and i will be taking it somewhere else to get a second opinion. I can feel it also in the right peg when the noise is sounding.

I have the same sound you speak of with my vision and it is defiantly the belt. As the belt and pulleys warm the tension of the belt increases and the sound you hear are the belt's cogs mating with the rear pulley. I have about 20k miles on mine now and the sound has not changed. I am convinced that it is a Victory characteristic.
Another sound you might hear that I believe is also from the belt and pulley meshing and that is one of a scarier sound, like the grinding metal sound of a dry worn bearing when at speed. My bike has made this sound for quite some time and is not changing it's characteristic at all. I hear it mostly only when I ride past a close barrier that can reflect the sound back to me. Having stock pipes makes it easier to hear. I have had it looked at and have been told that nothing is wrong.
Finally, Victory belts squeak. Drives me crazy. All the adjustment in the world has not rid me of it so I finally resorted to spraying a good dose of silicon into the belt every few thousand miles.

I know this is an older video but my Vegas started doing this at about 1000 miles. No accidents. With a passenger bikes around me could hear it when coming to a stop light.

@Robert mine was actually because my fear sprocket was warped. shop changed it out and sound was all gone and the bike ran smooth and quiet again.

Thx for the reply. My doesn't pull bad, but one dealer said he'd put a Do Not Ride order on the bike if it came from his dealership. I'm just gonna let it go I think. Took the bike out tonight. It was whining like my X wife. I'll prob live with that as well.

I have a 2015 Gunner, and what you described is EXACTLY what I have been hearing and feeling since my bike hit 200 miles, and it got worse after my 600 mile service,,,the accelerating engine noise sounds great,,,it is just this rubbing, whining and moaning that feels like something is rubbing inside the engine and that something is "out of round", sort of rotating "out of balance" and yes,,,my local dealer where i got the bike says that these are all normal for victory engines…i love the looks of my bike, just wish i did not have to listen to this BS noise, from such a nice bike

steven berdy mine ended up being the rear sprocket. it was not running true. they put a gauge up against it and found it was bent. it was causing the belt to constantly run against the wall of the sprocket. if the belt was adjusted it would be back against the wall of the sprocket after just a block or two of riding. changed the rear sprocket out and the sound was gone. i had taken it to the place i purchased it half a dozen times trying to figure this issue out. they always said there was nothing wrong with it. took it to a different place that newly opened around me and i actually worked with them on the bike and that is when the issue got resolved.

Now i'm wondering if my bike was hit by a car. U'r description of the whining noise is identical to mine. It takes about 15 or 20 minutes to kick in.

My 2014 Judge is making the same noise you described. Additionally, My bike won't ride straight without my hands on the handle bars. Should i be concerned. It want to dive right. I noticed this when i took my hands off the handlebars to adjust my helmet.

first off i need to correct a previous reply above where i said they replaced the belt. they in fact replaced the sprocket! not the belt. Now all is good :). as far as the drifting goes... my bike drifts slightly right. Not noticeable at all even if i have one hand on the bar. My friend has a 13 jackpot and he said he cant ride with his hands off the bars either. i think it may be because there is just one disc brake and the centrifugal force acts on the "Straightness" of the ride. But again i will say it is every so slight on my bike and my buddy's. So if yours is doing it noticeably hard then something else may be wrong.

It's the belt mine did it for a while dealer couldn't ever get it right so I sat down and would adjust and ride and adjust and ride until I finally figured out the right adjustment on my own and it's been this way for a year now and no noise

i actually just got my bike back from another dealer because the original dealer didnt seem interested in finding a fix. the sprocket was replaced after the lady backed into the bike but was replaced under warranty and not insurance (for w/e reason the original dealer decided). but after several more months of testing the bike out myself and then taking it to the newest more recent dealer i was there with the mechanic and we found that the sprocket was bent. he would adjust the belt and then ride it around the block and the belt would move back tot he same place. once the belt was replaced the sound went away. The original dealer people are morons. this is only my second bike and i knew better.

I hate to say this , victory, Harley, there all the same , you leave your bike there you lose riding time , and there answer is always the same, that noise is normal, o , ok , how come my buddys 30 year old bike sounds like new, if you brig your bike to a shop and leave them with a blank check and say fix it I don't care what it cost %99 of the time they will find something and the bike come's home running fine and your happy. the reason shops tell us the noise is normal is because they don't know what the problem is or that noise it's making can be a few problem's and they don't want to play process of elimination with there money. but give them a blank check and tell them to spend away till they fix it and would come home fixed , my shop told me ride it till it gets worse so we can spot the problem, I told them #1 I don't want to here the noise it take the fun of riding out of the ride and #2 if I have to wait till a prat brakes , I can do that myself, then go in and fix it. welcome to real life. hate to sound like them but in the big grand scheme of thing's a bike is not important , family and health are, so go out and ride the wheels of it noise or no noise, : )
